Time for me to accept DA:Origins was a one off and the IP will never reach those heights again. 2 was bad, inquisition was better but still mediocre at best and now this. Cringe, modern day characters we see in 90% of games thrown into the no longer dark, fantasy world of Dragon Age, stripped of any actual interesting RPG mechanics and gameplay.
Good news. 5 felt like it was open world just because everything else is. It hurt the game imo, especially the pacing. Gears has always been best as a focused, linear game, nothing wrong with that.
@Banjo- I’m not a big fan of stealth games 😂 I just wasn’t impressed with what was shown, Perfect Dark was never about the story to me, it was about getting a group of friends together on an N64 and playing 4 player split screen at 15fps against bots or each other 😋 🤣 it was a blast with fun weapons.
I’m still kind of sad they created a new studio full of top top talent and instead of making a new IP they decided to build a new game around an old one. Kind of fits in with what the industry does now though industry wide.
Standouts to me were:
Indy, Expedition 33, Gears E Day and Mixtape.
I thought the graphics looked good in Perfect Dark but the game did not look good. Just me.
I don’t like what they’re doing with Fable, I don’t think they can pull off what made 1 and 2 so magical. Can you choose male or female like the originals? Probably not in 2024.
E Day has me excited I just hope they do Dom and Marcus justice.
There was more to like away from the big releases made for ‘modern audiences’ imo, with games like Expedition 33 standing out.
Do you agree with me yet? Phil Spencer is fully on board with what’s going on with Xbox, sorry I mean Microsoft gaming, and he’s as big as a corporate stooge as anyone else there?
E. I had to tap out early I was tired and it was boring me to death. I didn’t see anything amazing, only game that caught my eye was that man & deer game or whatever it was called.
@awp69 I mean, that’s great, but they did acknowledge a problem and said they were working on a fix.
5th February 2024
‘ We would like to assure players who have encountered audio delay on Xbox consoles that the Alan Wake 2 development team is aware of the issues and continues to work on resolving them.’
My advice. Dont buy this game on Series X, the lip syncing is still not fixed and they haven’t updated the game since February or issued any sort of statement since. I can’t play while it plods along like a bad dub. Would not even consider DLC.
Isn’t he going on a podcast soon? Uncle Phil’s biggest achievement is making gamers believe he is one of them. He’s not, he’s a corporate stooge. I know others believe it’s those above now calling the shots but I very much believe he’s still a huge part of where Xbox is now and it’s strategy going forward.
What he has to say once he pops up again will be very interesting.
Really enjoyed the game, like others have said it was pretty tough in parts. Only thing I didn’t like about it was the story but gameplay and graphics conquered.
Infinite was good, just not great. 343 got the gunplay and gameplay spot on I feel, it felt like Halo. The open world was disappointing though especially after its development time, it was small, lifeless and pretty uninteresting. The more linear sections were like a copy and paste of each other too for the most part, poor after 6 years in development.
Where to go now? I don’t know. I want more of Master Chief but 343 can’t afford to release just a ‘good’ game again. Halo should be great.
@Banjo- I didn’t play Ryse until I got the series X. I remembered its launch and the reviews complaining about its length and gameplay. I think both are fine and it’s another game that still looks superb today. I feel that game was unfairly reviewed across the board for broader reasons that just the game itself.
Even the non linear Sony games, they’re more Ubisoft like than people like to admit, it’s become tedious, across nearly all open world games not just the Sony ones.
I will try Hellblade 2, I’m a sucker for games that look this good 🤣
@Banjo- As much as I dunk on Xbox and their subpar exclusives, on the PlayStation side I’m completely bored of theirs. They’ve become predictable and uninteresting. TLOU2 and GOW:R both sucked imo, I couldn’t even finish the latter. I have zero interest in Horizon Forbidden Ubisoft or SM2, I think I’m done with the big Sony franchises at this point.
@Cherip-the-Ripper man, I love The Order 1886, I bought it on release and didn’t feel ripped off. Still one of my favourite PS4 games and it still looks incredible. It makes me sad that we’ll never get another.
I don’t mind shorter games as long as they’re satisfying. RYSE: Son of Rome is another title I adore that got ***** on for it’s length.
Nice review thanks. I thought the first game was just okay and I only really want to play this because it’s a graphical marvel.
I did not enjoy playing as Senua in the original, I did not like her or the annoying voices waffling on that apparently are meant to have some mental significance. I took nothing away from it apart from disappointment aside from the graphics. Reading the review this is much the same.
I’ll sub to Gamepass for a month to play it, but no way would I want to buy this game at full price.
@Lup it just felt like more of the same on a bigger scale, the map alone is daunting in Odyssey. I played it and dropped it pretty quickly. I’ll admit I love the Egyptian setting of Origins, so that also carried the game somewhat.
I thought Xbox would do better this gen, I was wrong. It’s failing miserably against the competition when it comes to selling units. I can also understand why that is, sub par exclusives that were meant to hit big time and and time again and the pivot towards releasing their games everywhere. Why would anyone consider an Xbox over a Sony or Nintendo console at the moment.
@Lanmanna as a fan of the original and its story, every single story element they added or changed was awful. From the ghosts to the ending of the game. Graphics are nice and the music was top notch but everything else was underwhelming imo, especially the story as I’ve mentioned. You can tell it’s from the same guy who made kingdom hearts, utter nonsensical.

Re: Starfield Is Getting Review Bombed (Again)
It deserves being review bombed just for being pure cringe. Oh and it’s a bad game.

Re: Reaction: Xbox's 2024 Showcase Felt Like A Throwback To The 360 Era, In The Best Way Possible
@Danny272 I didn’t want Gears 6. I don’t care about bland Kait or her story, very much happy they’re doing a prequel instead, I just hope it’s good.
Would have liked to have seen a handheld announced too.

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade The Xbox Games Showcase 2024?
@Korgon expedition 33 looks great. Definitely the standout for me too.
Re: Poll: How Would You Grade The Xbox Games Showcase 2024?
Dragon Age: SBI looks like Fortnite in a Dragon Age skin. Absolutely abysmal. I’m still not ever how bad it looks.
Re: Xbox: 'You Are Going To See More Of Our Games On More Platforms'
@NEStalgia he seemed like usual uncle Phil to me. I’ll give it more time and ask you again in 6 months to a year 😂
Re: Xbox: 'You Are Going To See More Of Our Games On More Platforms'
@NEStalgia hello there 🙂

He came back from the dead this weekend 😋
Re: Here's Everything That Was Revealed At The Xbox Games Showcase 2024
Can I just say what the ***** have they done to Dragon Age, that trailer was a crime. God awful.
Re: Fable Officially Returns To Xbox In 2025, Featuring Even More Snarky Humour
I don’t think they can pull it off.
Re: 'Gears Of War: E-Day' Is The Next Instalment In Xbox's Famous Franchise
I nearly cried. ❤️
Re: Poll: How Would You Grade The Xbox Games Showcase 2024?
B. Would have liked that Gears Remake at least acknowledged BUT the E Day trailer gave me the feels. Marcus and Dom ❤️
Lots of games I wasn’t interested in but a handful I liked the look of a lot. Good show for sure.

Re: Report: Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Lost $200 Million For Warner Bros
@OldGamer999 the people responsible for designing Mrs Freeze and The Woker in this game should definitely not have a job 🤣
Re: Hogwarts Legacy 'Summer Update' Now Live On Xbox, Here Are The Patch Notes
Strange how this game didn’t exist when it came to awards season.
Re: These Four Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (June 12-18)
@UltraGuy me too. Really liked the setting and crunchy combat. I enjoyed it as well.
@Romans12 The last boss was a pain.
Re: Report: Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Lost $200 Million For Warner Bros
😂😂😂😂
Good. What a disaster of a game on every level. From character design to its live service. More than happy to see this dog poo fail.

@Banjo- Hivebusters was great. Felt more ‘Gears’ than the whole of 5 imo. Looks incredible on series X also.
Re: Rumour: Xbox Showcase To Feature First-Party Shadow Drop, Details On Portable Console
I hope everyone here is right about a GOW collection. Need to detox after playing 5 😁

Re: Talking Point: Which Has Been The Most Reliable Xbox Console For You?
The Series X is the best piece of hardware this gen imo. Compact, looks good, silent and zero issues for me. No denying it’s a well built machine.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 25-26)
Subbed to Gamepass for the month so Hellblade 2 and some Cult of the Lamb on PS5.
Re: Hellblade 2 Developer Ninja Theory Thanks Fans For 'Incredible Response'
@AverageGamer we can joke about it, you don’t have to like it, that’s fine. The ‘community’ isn’t one single minded entity. Sorry.
Re: Hellblade 2 Developer Ninja Theory Thanks Fans For 'Incredible Response'
Nice group photo before Microsoft shuts them down 🤣
Re: Mad Max Dev Takes Offense At 'Nonsense' Criticism Of The 2015 Video Game
Mad Max was great fun. I loved the game. HK’s games are usually full of nonsense, Avalanche did a good job imo.

Re: Rumour: Xbox Planning To Bring More Games To PS5, Despite Some 'Unease' At Microsoft
Gonna have issues moving hardware if everything goes multi-platform, at this point I believe nothing is off the table, even Halo/Gears.
This is Microsoft gaming, Xbox is dead.

@rustyduck at least it’s good to see both body type A and B being represented. 🤣🤣🤣
Re: Starfield's Game-Changing Update Is Now Live On Xbox, Full Patch Notes Revealed
Can’t patch out the cringe writing. This game made me worried for the new elder scrolls.

Quite generous, 2 hours is like a 3rd of the game.
