It's been a few days now since Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn made its debut for Xbox Game Pass on July 18th, and considering the game's opening weekend has now passed, we'd like to know how the Pure Xbox audience is feeling about this Game Pass action RPG.
We had mixed feelings on this one during our review time to be honest. There's merit to what developer A44 Games has built here, but the title is certainly a little rough around the edges at launch.
We understand that you've likely not seen Flintlock through to its conclusion just yet, but nevertheless, how are you getting on with the game so far? It was quite hyped up as a day one Game Pass title, so has it lived up to those expectations for you?
The reception for the game generally trended a little bit higher than what we scored it here at Pure Xbox - Flintlock has a 70 on OpenCritic, and a Metacritic score of 71 at the time of writing. So, what score would you give the game so far?

It’s impressively bad.
I'm still playing Elden ring so it garbage compared to that but that still makes it a good game ha nothing amazing but definitely worth a go I'll go back when the mood hits!
Tried it, another souls like, not for me
For Gamepass reportedly set to bring in 5.5 Billion dollars with the new price tiers, I expect far better than this.
I’m enjoying it but Dungeons of Hinterberg is the real gem of last week’s releases. Great game!
Path of the Goddess is also quite good. Impressive week of GamePass releases for me!
Played it, completed it, loved it. Really interesting fantasy 18th Century setting, combat deeper than it looks, nice turns from the actors playing Nor and Enki, and hey, there might be a bit of jank, but when it's got this sort of character and heart, and is such good old fashioned fun, who cares?
Surprisingly moving ending, too. Although that last boss can GRTF.
(The reviews on the Xbox store are an absolute cesspit.)
I admittedly haven’t given it enough of a go to properly judge but also I’m not sure how much more I want to give it. Movement is much clunkier than it looked in the gameplay previews and it just seems very generic in nearly every aspect.
Had a quick blast it's not too bad. Microsoft need to sort the review bombing though with gamepass as most games have weirdos 1 starring and not even playing 🙄
You know, they say if you don't have anything nice to say, you shouldn't say anything at all...
Honestly the look and story seemed interesting but something is a bit amiss with the player movement speed. Unfortunately it throws me off all the time even though the gameplay combat actions and traversal mechanics are good/better. Sad, I'm just gonna quit as I wanted to like it.
They went for a hybrid souls-like with shooting and it just feels off from a general walk perspective, similar to Remnant 1&2 (if you like those you might like this one). How they could mess up the most important function of a game is beyond me. Other souls-like's like Lords of the Fallen (though it has a combat sound issue) managed to not mess up with the general aspects of gameplay/movement and I'd suggest play it instead as it's also on GamePass.
It's not for me. No complaints about the way it looks or how it plays it's just not my type of game.
I played it for a couple of hours, but that's probably it. It's just not my sort of game. Decided to give Tchia a try and I'm really enjoying that after a few hours. Really pretty game, and quite calm to just walk around and explore.
Played only an evening and deleted it, enjoying path of the godess right now.
@kuu_nousee probably cause it's not a souls-like
@AndroidBango @AndroidBango To true they should police that more what the reviews actually say and on multiple games
SBI game won’t even play this on Gamepass.
I've completed it with all achievements done
I enjoyed the game but can't give it more than a 7 out of 10 that's my opinion anyway
@NORTHERN_beat then a Darksiders-like. It's basically that but just not a satisfying time from a basic feeling. Games of the past that did it much better. Especially Darksider 2.
@LaurenceJ1987 Try Lil Gator if you like Tchia … nice fun game like A Short Hike
@Lucylu1983 Nothing wrong with a 7 … have it downloaded but trying Path of the goddess first
@AlwaysPlaying Yep, played both of those too. Good simple fun.
I should say these are not my sort of games.
Even so I just found it a bit dull with nothing to grab me that made me want to keep playing.
@awp69 fully agree on Dungeons of Hinterberg, it’s really got me hooked. Loving it.
Tried a demo during Steam Next Fest. Didn't like it.

I finished the game yesterday. Game is good, but not very good or perfect. Gameplay was fun and the combat and that's why I decided to play it and stick with it and finish it. However the graphics are just ok and the story not so interesting to me. I also had some difficulties at the final boss and plus because of a bug I had to repeat him 😫. It's like a 6 or 7 max to me.
