Exoprimal has been July's marquee Xbox Game Pass addition so far, with Capcom launching its brand-new IP straight into the service this month. The reception seems to have been mixed since the game's arrival last Friday, but we want to know how you've been finding this new Game Pass title so far.
So far, the consensus seems to be that Exoprimal is good fun, even if there's some concern about the longevity of the game in general. It seems like one of those titles that needs quite a bit of post-launch support to keep players invested!
Luckily, Capcom has at least committed to a good few seasons of content in the coming months, including some crossovers with series' such as Street Fighter and Monster Hunter. We're intrigued to see how these seasons unfold throughout 2023 and into next year.
Anyway, all of that aside, how have you been finding the game so far in its launch state? Are you happy with what Capcom has served up here, or were you expecting more from a company on such a good release run at the moment?
Let us know what score you'd give Exoprimal in the poll down below, and feel free to tell us why in the comments section!
What Score Would You Give Exoprimal So Far? (755 votes)

Don’t have time as I have too many single player games in my backlog but glad most are happy with it!
It must not be for me. I have logged about 4 hours now. I've found it quite boring and repetitive. It's still installed but I think I'm moving on to something else.
It is the game I'm playing most right now. I wish it had another mode or two but the loop is fantastic. Every game you play unlocks more [serviceable] story, more weapons n stuff. Co-op is fun, pvp is also great fun. PVP is very novel: the race and the final push. Forums like this always attract more pve only people, shut ins mostly, but this one is no stress. Or good stress rather. After getting to player level 15 or so the difficulty starts really ramping up and doesn't go down.
The story and characters are cliche and weak - the VA is over-affected; over-dramatic, the whole cast is there: Nerdy guy who figures it all out. Tough cookie lady with a backstory. The "boss" - wisecracking, yelling, the whole 1980s cop movie police sergeant thing. Robot people find an emotional attachment to. But as a whole it's still fun enough to keep me interested.
If Capcom keep up with this title it has potential to be in their big leagues. I said 9. Not as a review but because I am personally enjoying it so much. Probably an 8ish as an impartial review.
Two words, Capcom; Dino Crisis. 🦕
Having a blast. I like that it's really not another sweaty PVP game. I'm level 42 with 66% story completion. A lot of interesting mechanics. Really enjoying coming home after a long day of work and killing waves of dinosaurs. Matchmaking is good, characters are fun and it's just a little japanese crazy which I enjoy. Love the boss battle as well.
Haven’t spent enough time on it yet but so far it looks good and plays well. Not sure it’ll have lasting value, for me at least. A great game for Game Pass to try out.
Put two hours into it and I don't think I'll continue. It's just a pure grind fest. Keep doing the same thing over and over to level up and eventually find how YOU can do the most damage. Once you do the most damage, the next step is to find four other players that will agree on a team strategy, then continue grinding with them just as you did before.
@EVIL-C That’s three words? 😉
Joke aside, I’d love to see Dino Crisis make a comeback as I loved it back in the day. I am enjoying my time with Exoprimal but after a few matches at a time it does become repetitive so I only play a couple each day.
It's actually pretty good but it needs some QoL updates and definitely some new modes.
There's a new PVE end game mode coming in like 1-2 weeks. But there needs to be something like a PVP team death match.
And the dinosaur mechanic should have to be a team vote to activate it rather that one random person on your team. It's so vital that it be used at the right time having one player in a 5-team game use it whenever they want makes no sense.
@Dramlin you won't have access to all the games modes and game types until at least 10+ hours. They bafflingly tied that to the games, ahem, "story".
@dreadful Thank you, I wasn't aware of that. Now the tough choice on whether or not to grind up to that point. The gameplay is decent enough, just repetitive and often times busy.
boring as f, how many times one can do the same stuff over and over again I give this game 2-3 weeks
I was a little disappointed but that's my fault, from the trailers I was expecting a looter shooter like Anthem against Dinosaurs not an Overwatch style hero shooter.
It feels pretty generic and I've already lost interest in it.
@Dramlin You've probably only played the Payload final mission. Which bored me too. And "Dino cull" regular mission types.
But there's, Energy Hammer, Area Defence, Vortexer Sabotage, NPC Escort missions (lol), Energy Taker big PvP mission, A/B/C point pvp control missions.
And the games best *****... 10 player Neo-saur battles. I honestly would urge you to at the very least play up to the 10-player Neo T-Rex battle before you decide whether to move onto something else! You have to play it!
I think you only should need about 20-25 matches to get to that point. Just make sure to keep clicking all the ! story tabs to move it along (I skipped every single cutscene lol)
Thanks! Yep, I'll give it a go to see what else is there. I watched most of the initial cutscene and quickly decided against ever subjecting myself to that again. Every cutscene has been skipped since, but I wasn't aware of the "!"s. I'll start pushing the story along. Much appreciated!
friends an family keep bugging me to play it everyday so i'd say its found its crowd lol
@AlwaysPlaying I know, got hooked on Chained Echoes the last couple of weeks, and then couldn't finish Exo One or Spelunky 2. Now I gotta choose between finishing The Ascent (tbh I got pulled away from that last year), Marvel's Avengers (which kills its own momentum with how disappointing it is), and continuing with Exoprimal.... All while juggling Destiny 2 (people say it's in a slump right now, but it's actually THEM burnt out from the game).
@dreadful it also really doesn't make sense if the main tank or healer uses the big dino. But the game is so fast paced a vote could mess that all up you know? Maybe pre-match?
@EVIL-C Evil Canevil (sp?) or Evil Canadian?
So far 6/10. I guess Capcom knew why they put it into Gamepass. Nothing really exciting about this game.
@MaccaMUFC There was a ; after Capcom. The comment was framed as if it was addressed directly to Capcom themselves. Perhaps "Two words to Capcom; Dino Crisis" would've been more clear. I just want a new Dino Crisis! 😍
@Jark Neither, the C is taken from my name. I've used such a variation of this nickname online for over 20 years. No reason to stop now.
@Cashews Wouldn't be a big deal I don't think.
Player activates it, prompt on the screen "Player has activated Dominator: Vote YES/NO"
Right on the dpad for yes,
Left for no. Simple, easy, fast. Entire team gets to vote on whether it's used and used correctly.
It's alright but Goat Simulator 3 and Diablo IV are holding my attention way better
What a derivative, redundant hunk of recycled PvE crap. Is it attempting a tongue in cheek take a la Borderlands with this childish "dinosaurs comeback with a parallel universe sprinkle to boot" plot line? Why this isn't a Teen rated game I do not know. Why more people didn't vote it into the ground I likewise do not know. I thought for sure all the people who would say this game was reasonable output from a dev the size of Capcom would all be too busy playing Bramble at the moment to vote otherwise.
Its good fun but i can't myself playing it for the long run, very glad its on GP as its not worth the 50 its costs.
Just a word of advice. It starts out very samey for the first few ours but then it starts to unlock and there is so much more going on. It's a weird way of doing it but I like it.
