Re: GoldenEye 007 Officially Announced For Xbox Game Pass

I played this game enough to know every nook and cranny. The songs are forever living rent free in my head. But I remember the most was being splitscreen 4-players and being pretty tipsy and screaming at the television. So needless to say, I am super excited this day!

Re: Poll: Are You Enjoying Immortality On Xbox Game Pass So Far?

2 hours in and I'm seeing how it really works. I got that first blush with the "game" after 45 minutes or so. Then it started to open up. They really do just throw you in without any guidance. You just start watching movie clips. Without any spoilers, but the first time you discover the real stuff going on, you get truly hooked.

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade Gamescom Opening Night Live 2022?

I gave it a B. Some interesting stuff for sure, but the big swingers fell a little flat for me. The Hogwarts video was a little under-baked and left us in the office wondering what all the commotion was about that it would be presented. I didn't understand the blonde in the black dress. She read from note cards the whole time and never gave us anything worth watching.

Re: Here's Your First Look At 16 Minutes Of Gotham Knights Gameplay

My coworker and I watched and his comment on the first 8 minutes or so, "Is this a walking simulator?" When the fighting started we both liked the grapple hook, but the fighting sequences quickly began to show the same take down moves being used on the same cookie cutter bad guys (so far as we've seen). It's OK. Not breaking any new ground.

I was on pins and needles. I was hoping for Goldeneye, as it seems most were. When I saw Redfall and then Motorsport, I was floored. WO LONG came out of nowhere and I kept scrambling to learn what that was. Starfield is going to massive. Kojima. Yes.

I gave it an A. It was a load of fun to see even in fuzz-o-vision live streaming. Now to find the actual 4K videos...!

OH you're breaking my heart. So many fond memories. I had a continuous subscription since '02 or '03 time frame until it transitioned to digital and then died. Even on my mil deployments, my wife would ship me my OXM with letters and cookies. Yet I always traveled with my slimline PS2 because that was so much smaller and easier to transport.

Re: Talking Point: Have You Bought An Xbox Series X|S Expansion Card Yet?

I had gift cards and after a small sum from myself, I snagged the 1 Tb version. Totally worth it. You do get 920 Gb on it to utilize. Not sure what is put on there by the XSX, but still the 920 Gb is greatly welcome and oh so brilliantly simple to use. I was also surprised at the small footprint of the card itself. Not sure what I was expecting, but it was smaller than that expectation.

Re: Early Impressions Are Good For Cyberpunk 2077 On Xbox Series X

orionreplay

I continued my freshly started game in the last 2 weeks and my first word was, "wow". So I had recently seen both worlds and this change was very noticeable on my Series X. My only gripe was the wholesale change to the perks within each trait. I was refunded all my points back, but they had changed names and perks themselves. That made me a little sad as I had been working towards a Cold Blood perk, that now no longer exists. But all in all, a fantastic update.

I was a Day One purchaser and ended up putting it away, waiting for the XS patch. Time goes by and just in the last two weeks, my coworker picked up the game and began playing. His experiences brought me back to it, even without the XS Patch. What a treat this game is. I am having a blast on my Street Kid. Soooo... now if tomorrow is the XS patch.... I'm there! I'm ready!

Re: Some Xbox Series X Owners Are Having Major Problems With 4K Blu-Rays

orionreplay

Due to crap internet for streaming, we rely a lot on Blu Ray and 4K UHD disks. We have watched a lion's share of movies on my Series X since November 2020 and have not seen these issues. I do not know what the disks are for sizes. I just know my family has no issues with our large library. Heck, we just came through the Christmas season and watched a ton of movies.

Re: Xbox Creator Demands Action As Sexist Xbox Live Recording Goes Viral

True story. In the opening days of Sea of Thieves, my kids and I would man the helm (admittedly, them just watching me play). I set off on solo adventures, yet never found another player, like ever. One afternoon my daughter spied what she thought was a mast. I sailed towards it in hopes of seeing my first player and not an NPC. I saw him on the beach of an island and I furled my sails and doing a salute, we sailed past him.

The next thing I know, my surround sound speaker system is just filled with all sorts racist spewage, calling me an 'N' this and 'N' that and even other known skin color comments. I didn't know how the local voice system worked. I had never found another player. Yet here it was live and coming out of my surround sound system. He just kept calling me every name in the book and my kids sat staring at me in stunned silence.

I later learned how to mute that garbage but my days in SoT waned.

Re: Xbox Is 20 Years Old Today! What Are Your Favourite Xbox Memories?

orionreplay

I got my 1st Xbox on summer 2002. When the 360 launched I left that home and deployed with the OG Xbox. I left that in Iraq for everyone to play and returned home to the 360. I then was at a loss without the OG Xbox, so with 360 in hand... I bought another OG. That I still have in my basement. I owned several 360s , settling on the final black model that had a smaller footprint. I could travel with it easier.

When the One was announced I was not happy with their military response for remaining permanently hooked to the internet, "We have an Xbox for you... the 360." So I remained firm with the 360 until May 2015. I then finally got the One. Followed by the One S holiday 2016. I then put both of those in the basement and now have had the XSX since Day 1.

17... almost 18 years on XBox Live.

Re: Xbox Game Pass Continues Impressive Growth, But Misses Yearly Target

orionreplay

My brother and his family are the ones that subscribe when they want to and unsubscribe at the drop of a hat, only to pick it up again 6 months later for a month or two. So at any point in the year, he may be considered a plus or a loss. Luckily, I have convinced my cubicle-farm coworker to get her first Xbox. She will be onboard with Gamepass annually. I added one for Uncle Phil.

Re: Talking Point: Is Xbox Missing Out By Leaving The Superheroes To PlayStation?

orionreplay

While not a super-hero fan, I did try Spiderman on my PS4. I liked the 3rd person, go-anywhere attitude it had. Climb a building. See that building in the far distance? Get over there and climb that one too. While I was Spiderman in that scene, it really could be any fictional character. Nothing made it just "Spiderman". It was just a city scape with its own rules, own story, and own bad guys. Xbox could do this too.

Re: Strangely, Halo Infinite Won't Give You XP For Just Playing Matches

orionreplay

I do not play MP. Yet was invited to the Infinite beta. I had no idea what I was doing and yet thoroughly enjoyed the "free" battlepass and ranking up by doing the challenges. Honestly, I didn't even think of it that way when I was playing. I was simply being asked to do stuff, so I did stuff. One of my favorites was the melee from behind. They had a quirky name for it, like "Ninja-something". It helped me progress in the battlepass and unlock gear that I didn't see on other players. It seems the ability to look unique will exist within the game.
