Update (Fri 15th Apr, 2022): Didn't get selected for one of these in the first batch? Check again! Microsoft is sending out even more free Xbox Gift Cards, with many people reporting to have received one yesterday, April 14th.
Original story (Sat 9th Apr, 2022): Yes, it's that time again! Microsoft is once more sending out a batch of free Xbox Gift Cards to various Xbox users, and it's all in celebration of the massive Xbox Spring Sale 2022 on the Microsoft Store.
So far, we've seen that some Xbox users in the UK are getting Ā£4 gift cards and users in the US are getting $5 gift cards, but it's very possible that there are multiple variants out there, as is usually the case with these promos.
If you've been chosen for one of these Xbox Gift Cards (it's seemingly a random process), you should find a notification from Microsoft on your console, so check and see if you've had a message from the official Xbox account recently.
There's absolutely loads of stuff you can spend your free gift card on in the Spring Sale, including a bunch of games that are even cheaper that the gift card itself, so you don't need to spend anything! Now that's what we call a good deal.
Have you received a free Xbox Gift Card for the Xbox Spring Sale? Let us know in the comments below.

I was a happy recipient of a Ā£8 gift card for buying a game in a previous promotion. Got me Untitled Goose Game for nothing.
I got one once like 4 years back. Was a nice surprise.
Got one! š
Not sure what I'll buy with it though...
Maybe something fun in Sea of Thieves... New pet?
Apply it to the DLC for Doom Eternal or Outer Worlds?
Killer is Dead is on sale for like $4...
Hmm...
Iām not lucky enough to receive these kind of offers but I would be grateful if I ever did, Iād put it towards BioShock: The Collection that Iām planning to get from the Spring Sale.
It's that folks have said they'd actually received some on here else I wouldn't believe it lol. Been almost a year I think since one of these articles popped up and I've never gotten one, guess my country just ain't eligible.
Like almost 15 years and never received one...yet my gf got one about 5 months after she made an account
This is a real nice touch as they don't HAVE to do anything like this. I feel I'm already getting good value with Game Pass and Microsoft Rewards so it's nice to see events like these. Will check my account soon when I am back, but if I get it, will likely use it on Valhalla, or a multiplayer party game.
I just bought something from the sale, so I'll probably get one now lol
@StylesT I got mine after about 2 weeks. Got my Xbox 10 Dec and the message 27 Dec. I don't expect another one, but I'm not complaining.
@MaccaMUFC lot of value there. I still need to finish Infinite
17 years of Xbox Live Gold, 800 digital xbox games. Still not worthy of a Ā£4 gift card from MS.
Yeah I got Ā£4 this time much to my surprise. Will put it towards Lego Star Wars.
The only emails they ever send me are ones about the series S š
I got oneā¦had a message waiting for me today. Now have Ā£4 in my wallet. Runs out July I think it says though Iām sure the message said I had to use it by the 16th of April but now I canāt find the original message?
I reckon I got offered it cause I canāt even remember the last time I bought anything from the store
@Dusk_Actual Itās definitely a bargain. I finished all the games on the 360 many years ago but I do fancy revisiting Rapture and Columbia in native 4K, 60 fps and Auto-HDR.
@Richnj I know what you mean, Iām the same with 17 years of Xbox Live Gold and over 700 digital games. Us long time loyal fans are not worthy of a Ā£4 gift card but people who have not long joined are? Charming.
Iām surprised that I actually got one. I have no idea what to spend it on though, I was looking to buy a game already so I may as well just use it as a five dollar discount.
@bobzbulder If you want to see which games are in your price range, if you go to the Microsoft Store on the web, you can put in an amount for example say within ā¬5 or $5 depending on where you live and you will be shown games in that office range. Or between $5 and $10 and a selection will be shown to you making it less tedious to find games in your price range.
@CloudyDream Thank you, Iāll try that out. One question though, why isnāt this a feature on the console store?
I am curious, are have these giftcards ever been dropped outside the US/UK markets?
I got the word last night via the XBox app (on my PC) that I got one! That's absolutely a first here.
I legit thought this was some sort of mistake on Thursday the 14th, when I was trying to download an invoice from my Xbox Store order history. Called MS support (which is a mess to find a phone # for; even worse was navigating back to my order history from the support website); they told me it was a free gift. Lol
Background: I needed to prove I bought the Middle Earth Shadow bundle, bc I couldn't install the DE of Shadow of War (... it had turned out that I just had to download base game and DLC separately, sigh). Then in my most recent order history entry, I saw a credit from MS, that matched what I paid for Middle Earth, and thought maybe they had refunded me for revoking the credentials.
i receive s ton of free gifts cards each year from microsoft my highest was once 25$ or 17$ this year i received 7$ always happy with what i receive its always around spring or summer often time šš they also gave me 15$ to thank me to ge subscribe to gamepass they really gifted me alot those 5 last year.
I got the message that i got the $10 but it doesn't show up in my balance š¢
I was honestly shocked when I received my 5.00 thanks Microsoft!!
@bobzbulder I absolutely agree with you ! Microsoft needs to help consumers not feel overwhelmed by the Store experience, because it can be sometimes tedious to find the right game for you in the price range you want without wading for ages through the store to find it. Having the price range bracket would allow store users on console to easily all the games in their price range. This can only help people to be more satisfied and also find games that they previously might not have been able to find. If people make suggestions to the Xbox Team about this, then perhaps they will implement it. They often do implement consumer's ideas that they hear about, so if enough people voice their opinion about it then perhaps they will make it happen ! I really hope they do make it happen ! Also it would be really helpful to be able to search for games under the publisher or developer name as well to easily find all the titles by a certain publisher or developer.
