Re: Video: We're Loving These Heartwarming Xbox Series X Christmas Reactions

orionreplay

I remember Christmas Eve and my dad wanted us to open one present to the three of us kids. We chose one and he declined and had us pick another. We then opened his choice. It was original NES with robot. We were stunned. We immediately barreled downstairs into our basement where the TV was and played Duck Hunt for hours, my dad included. He always loved those types of gifts to the family.

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator's Free VR Update Is Now Available

PSVR has sold some 5M units as of a year ago and who knows how it did this year within pandemic. I have it for my PS4 Pro and while it is not PC quality graphics, SW Squadrons on it is still pretty amazing. Microsoft has no foundation with VR to build on, so it would be from scratch. What I think would be best is to get the XBox Series S/X to be able to run an existing VR solution, much like a PC. Got the Oculus 2? With the VR patch, you can use it with the XBox Series X. That sort of thing.

Re: UK Boxed Charts: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Beats Cyberpunk 2077 To Christmas No. 1

orionreplay

Here in the States I was in a Best Buy this weekend and saw massive Cyberpunk displays. I even saw CP2077 in customer's hands.

I always feel that while we get information readily here, most people do not. Nothing on the display hinted at issues with the title and they had Cyberpunk accessories, figure or toys (?), some type of t-shirt and the actual games for sale. AND people were buying them.

Somebody was still asking for it for Christmas and it was being purchased. I hardly even think the blue shirted employees could even speak to CP2077 issues, if even asked.

Edit: Oh and Valhalla is the gift that keeps on giving. Great game!

Re: Talking Point: How Are You Finding Cyberpunk 2077 So Far?

orionreplay

Dolby Atmos gives great performance on my XSX. My issue is that sometimes the character speaking to you can be a little too low to hear properly. Yet street noise is coming through quite nicely via the surrounds.

Graphical performance I have no issues. It's a good looking game and I await the Series XS patch in the future, which I knew I'd be waiting for.

My 'OK' is the game itself. I find I actually fall nearly asleep at times. NPCs seem to like to talk... a lot. I am positive it will pick up the deeper I get, but so far the story (for me) has been just Eh, OK.

Re: Halo Infinite Fans Call For Xbox One Version To Be Cancelled Amid Cyberpunk Debacle

orionreplay

I felt the July trailer was pretty good and looked forward to it. It felt like Halo 1 all over again. Without any details, I have to imagine this has been in the works for at least a couple years. Very well in the meat of the XBox One generation. I think the July gameplay showed us was the culmination of that, but people clamored for Next Gen, and rightfully so. So 343 went back to the well to make it snazzier and more Next-Genish.

I think the XBox One version is there already. 343 is busying themselves with painting the house and installing quartz countertops and hardwood, but the house is still there.

I wonder if they can extract the XBox One version for Day 1 and at the same time also release the Series S/X version? Old gen and Next gen on the same day?

Re: Xbox Exec: People Were Worried Game Pass Would Devalue Games

Been a Live subscriber for 16 years now and when I saw Gamepass I joined there too. Find old articles from the early '00s and the media sincerely doubted the validity of Live service back then too. "No one will pay for that," was the rallying cry. Now scream ahead to today and you can't imagine Xbox without it. Gamepass will be the same. I love my GP.

Re: Poll: What Is Your Xbox Game Of The Year 2020?

orionreplay

If FS 2020 had been on the Xbox this year, hands down winner for me. My PC struggles with it, but from what I could witness, I can not wait to see it on my Series X in 4K next summer.

I put a vote in there for MC Dungeons. My kids love it... and surprisingly, for an adult it is a fun play too.

Re: Review: Cyberpunk 2077 - Packed With Potential, But Desperately In Need Of Some TLC

orionreplay

Starting as a Nomad, I was utterly shocked at how undercooked the driving aspect of my first vehicle was in the desert outside the city. Literally driving highway speeds, a single cactus stopped me cold, like slamming into a wall. I thought to myself, these could get some serious pointers from Forza Horizon. In the city and into missions, I am feeling average. I like the room to room combat, but in the streets I feel very alone, yet see these mannequins that are supposed to be NPCs. They don't even acknowledge your vehicle and I inadvertently slay many NPCs with a simple nudge while trying to park. They will not get out of the way of a car coming through. This of course brings in the cops, who appear to be hunting me, but I quickly learned don't leave their spawn area. I'm still in it to win it and knew going in I would be waiting for my Series X patch. I went back to Control for the time being!

Re: Here Are Some Of The Craziest Xbox Stories We've Seen In 2020

orionreplay

I'll say it. I had no issues with the Halo Infinite we saw this past summer. It looked great to me and the action was so fluid. I was eagerly waiting for it, but then the internet lost its mind. Maybe now we'll get something even more refined.

Microsoft's ability to roll with every punch this year was the surprise winner. Call it a fridge? We make a fridge. Call him Craig? We make him our friend. In the past XBox would have stumbled, but MS was dancing around the punches in 2020.

Re: Looking Back At The Original Xbox Launch On Its 19th Anniversary

In summer 2002 a squadron mate went on leave and he surprised me by willingly giving me his Xbox with Halo and Oddworld until his return. I hooked it up and got hooked myself. When he returned I bought my first of many Xboxes. My original I left in Iraq for others to play and returned home to my new XBox 360. Much later I got the XBox One in spring 2015 and now today have the XBox Series X in my home.

Re: Viral Videos Appear To Show The Xbox Series X Emitting Smoke

orionreplay

The bottom of the X, just above the spinning pedestal, is as open as it is on top, with another grate of circles. If one wanted to do something like this with vaping, you could easily enough. Inhale, blow it through the bottom, which then makes its way out the top. Done. Crack out phone. Famous on Youtube for 15 minutes.

Re: Viral Videos Appear To Show The Xbox Series X Emitting Smoke

orionreplay

No issues with mine. I even took some heat samples myself last night while the kids played Forza Horizon 4. The bottom was actually cold to touch (room temp) and the top grate was the hottest point at mouth exhaled-breath warm (like 37 C or so).

Yes, if you blow on the back of your hand that's how warm my Series X was last night in FH4. Quiet as a fart in church.

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your First Impressions Of The Xbox Series X|S?

orionreplay

I love it. I adore it. The loading times are so radically smaller they make for brand new games. My only big question mark: Quick Resume. I went to show my wife what this all meant and as she feigned interest, I couldn't get any game to quick resume. Going from Minecraft to Forza 4 and back again, had each game do a total load again. Albeit a much faster load, but still a full load. Is Quick Resume suspended right now for certain titles?

Re: Random: Snoop Dogg Shows Off His New Xbox Series X Fridge

orionreplay

This is exactly what MS needed to do. They are firing on all cylinders right now. Instead of hiding and sulking from the LOLing of its design and comparisons to a fridge, they pop out instead and actually present a fridge to the public. This is awesome.

This gets a slow 80s clap that end that ends with the whole affair applauding.

Re: 2K Responds To Complaints About Unskippable Ads In NBA 2K21

orionreplay

My only connection to these titles is my cubicle-mate at work and she purchases these 2K NBA games every year without fail. I asked her about this yesterday and her response? She said she saw it, but it did not sink in that she was watching an "ad". It just played while she waited for the court to load.

Re: Hardware Review: 8BitDo SN30 Pro - An Excellent Way To Get Into Xbox Cloud Gaming

orionreplay

Does this in any way differ from utilizing the BT in the XBox One controller to link to the phone? That's how I have been doing it with a clip I got off Amazon.

I have tried gaming at lunch from work, but my cellular data connection here is not great and Game Pass squawks at me the whole time about it. When I am home on my wifi, it is wonderful.

I find it to be useful at home when the kids are playing Switch on the television together or my daughter is playing PS4. I then can sit in my armchair and still get XBox time.

Re: Poll: How Many Xbox Consoles Have You Owned In Total?

orionreplay

I had the original but then later bought another. The original-original was left in Iraq. I still have the 2nd one today.

I then had the 360 three times, losing the first to the red ring and replaced by MS. I still have the last 360 Slim in black today.

I then had the original XBox One, but later gifted it to my brother after I got the One S in 2016. I still have this one today.

SO... 7 in total for me. Eight if you count my Series X pre-order.

Re: What's All This About The Xbox Series X Running Hot?

orionreplay

My PC gets all sorts of warm when I run Flight Simulator. My Samsung S8 feels very hot to touch after playing games during my 30 minute lunch break. My PS4 Pro had to be relocated because it is blazingly hot during game sessions, even while the jet fans are wailing away. My XBox One does better, but can get quite warm too.

I fully expect my Series X to be no different.
