The new Forza Motorsport has now been available in early access for the past few days as part of the Premium Edition and Premium Add-Ons Bundle, and the "Top Paid" Xbox Chart shows that it's been a popular purchase so far!
With that in mind, we thought we'd take this opportunity to poll the early adopters of Forza Motorsport to see what you think so far. If you haven't bought it yet but you're intrigued, here's what the Premium Upgrade contains:
In our review of Forza Motorsport, we gave the game a "Great" 8/10 and praised it as potentially "one of the very best sim racers ever to grace Xbox", but felt that it needed a few more career events, tracks and bonus features to get there.
Do you agree with that, or do you have a different opinion entirely? We'd love to know your early impressions of Forza Motorsport on Xbox Series X|S or PC, and let us know what score you'd give the game so far as well!
Early access players, what do you think of Forza Motorsport so far?

Not being that much of a fan of the more Sim style Racing, it was never a game I'd have bought for Early Access - regardless of whether I could play on Game Pass.
Whilst I have played every Forza on Xbox, I have bought most of the 'Motorsport' entries after launch in a Sale and without Game Pass, that would be my plan for this. However, thanks to GP, I don't have to wait for sales.
Sim Racing games in general wouldn't really get more than a '7' in my book - simply because I don't really feel they have 'evolved' and/or are significantly better than many other Racing game over the past decade+. Visually they maybe getting more and more 'photo-realistic' in stills, but the Game Play loop isn't really 'improved'.
Haven't played too much but what I did, I enjoyed.
As much as I love Xbox this "early 5 day access" is really poor. Forza is probably my favourite gaming series but I'm waiting till launch day still. How long before it's a week early access, or two? Sadly with the sales from this and Starfield as well I doubt Xbox will turn about face, but I shall still vocally call this out as the cynical cash grab it is, charging the "supposed hardcore" fans more for the sake of it
It’s cool I paid for the highest version … I rather it than horizon and I’m sure there will be many updates I just don’t know why Xbox games get attacked when ps games has its issues
I bought it mainly for the car pass and the 2x credits coming with the VIP pass. I would have bought them anyway. That you get an early access is a nice bonus.
But paying alone for just a custom overall or special paint scheme / livery , something pure cosmetical and an early access is something I would not do. It has to add something of value. 5 days early access is not something I want to pay for.
ACG told me all I needed to know. This game needs a rework to its progression system
If really get down to it, early access is never worth the money. Only throwing money away. Wait few more days and you're golden.
So... early days, but enjoying it so far.
I tried FM7 a few years ago and got bored VERY quickly and couldn't get into it... but this new game has got me engaged quickly.
As long as the content keeps coming (and players keep populating the servers), this game's a winner.
Nothing spectacular, but it's everything it needed to be and that's just fine 🙂
EDIT:
I've never been much of a sim racer... always leaned a bit more arcade... but this has a chance of converting me!
@JokerBoy422 Yeah the current progression system is terrible, easily what brings down the game the most.
Yeah I am loving it. I have a wheel setup and it’s the first game that feels properly done for it for me. It’s great you get to tweak regulations, ai for cars and assists to find your gameplay level and get better. Some minor bugs and issues.
6 percent came here to say they didn't play early access and aren't interested in the game at all?? Why? What motivated you to read this article and participate in a poll? People confuse me...
@JayJ I was excited to try it out before I heard about this. Now I'm just turned off from it. Hopefully they change it, but if not I've got other stuff to play. This year has been nuts!
Multiplayer is a bit annoying; the whole "simulating a race weekend with practice/qualifying" probably sounded good on paper but in reality it's tedious - spending 20 minutes killing time before a 5-10 minute race just feels like a chore, especially if you then get taken out on the first turn by an idiot who can't find their brakes (especially as the penalty system has issues; I keep getting penalised when someone else hits me if it causes me to hit someone else or get knocked off the track). Career mode is lacking something; all the races are short and there's not really any sense of progression - a few car upgrades, but then at the end of the tournament you're on to a new non-upgraded car - and "driver level" seems to have no effect on anything. The lack of any kind of music during races feels weird, the UI is a bit clunky, it's a bit buggy, AI drivers are terrible, and it feels half finished somehow, but it looks pretty I suppose.
@pip_muzz the DLC addition is what normally swings it for me with the early access but extra cars isn’t enough of a value add for me.
@pip_muzz Industry has figured out that they can cash in on FOMO. It’s here to stay unfortunately.
@Dround87 I dont understand your confusion? People come to this site to read about and participate in discussions about, xbox gaming.
This is latest big title on xbox and our favourite site is asking for our opinion. Why wouldnt you take a moment to pick how you feel?
Your post is the only confusing thing I see here...
Lol idk. Was just suprised how many people with no interest in the subject of the article decided to click the link in the first place and then go on to participate in a poll which has a results button. I like to read things that I find interesting and relevant.
@Dround87 I kinda see what you mean. Im the kind of reader that ends up reading all the articles posted here, mainly cause Ive found it healthier to limit what I comsume on the net.. so it seems normal to me 😁 Maybe it IS weird and Im just weird, lol
I am digging it. The cars feel great so far. (I've only driven three.)
BTW, the premium upgrade is not just for 5-day early access. It includes a couple car passes and other DLC, the same as always. The early access period is just enticement to buy the DLC earlier.
As much as I liked Horizon i find Motorsport much better suited to my taste. While Horizon, after while seemed unfocused - sure you can do whatever you want but there's no obvious goal that game wants you to follow, especially once you do all the events, Motorsport is much more structured. 9/10 imho
@GuyinPA75
This has been explained a million times, but I will explain it one more time. With both the Starfield and now the Forza Motorsport "early access" Premium upgrades. You get more than just early access for your $30. You get things like in Starfield's case the first DLC to launch post launch included and some other goodies, with Forza you get some cars and the VIP pass.
To answer the article's question, I've been enjoying it a lot...until I got to the Miata racing cup, so boring lol. But love the game otherwise.
I am admittedly not a big racing fan, but my son is. The media I have been seeing so far convinced me to drop on the early access, plus all the Perks. I am now so hooked after this past weekend. One side of my brain says it doesn't like this type of gaming, but the other, louder side of my brain is screaming, WOW GIMME MORE. It's a weird split and I love it so far.
@ZuneTattooGuy Yep completely agree. People are WAY too focused on the 5 days early access and not looking at the real reason most of us bought the Premium Edition, or in my case as a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber, the Premium Add Ons DLC pack.
I had enough reward points to get a £25 Xbox Gift card so I ended up getting the Premium Edition for a whopping price of £1.99 lol.
Back to my main point, most of us got the Premium Edition for the car pass, VIP membership which pays out double the money for every race, the Welcome pack etc. I always go for the Premium Edition as it always works out cheaper than buying the DLCs separately. The 5 day early access is just an added bonus.
I haven't played it but the impressions have been passable to broken, not fun with the scaling and off in some areas.
So..... I don't know what to think without having even played it and not taking their impressions but I won't deny that seems fine depending on each user PC or console.
I wasn't that interested in it anyway as most elements didn't seem that compelling and I don't feel I'm missing out at all. Got plenty of other games racing or other genres to play.
Also the online requirement how limited is it? Probably GT7 restricted I assume than Sport fairly flexible.
@SuntannedDuck2
Having actually played the game I can say if you played Forza 7, it's a huge step up. Not only on a graphical level, but there is no microtransactions of any kind and the racing feels really responsive.
@ZuneTattooGuy Good to know. I didn't mind Forza Motorsport 7, the handling/physics, the career mode changes.
Going from 7 to 6 was a surprise to see where things started and what changes as I played them 5 a while ago, then 7 then 6 so context was given finally.
The graphics do look good, lack of MTX is interesting. I hope the DLC/updates are worth it at least when they come out.
