If they do it before using the potential of the current system I'm switching back to PC. Basically this makes people who bought the console at launch nothing more than paying Sony/Microsoft to be part of a beta program.
@Rafie By malice they don't care about the gaming industry. They could care less if the rest burned down as long as they controlled it. Supporting Sony is a knife in the back of the gaming industry.
@Rafie Sony does it with malice. They do a lot more than this. They are cancer in the gaming community. Everything they do is to destroy what isn't theirs.
@Neverwild Sony tried their hardest to get me to hate them, but it wasn't that hard for them with their practices. My hate for Sony goes beyond the Playstation. Microsoft isn't doing so well at the moment. Gaming as a whole has taking a giant dump on gamers. Between PC part prices to the lack of real next gen titles is hurting the industry all around.
As much as I love Cats I can't support this game because they accepted money from Sony to make it exclusive. This developer and their games are now lumped in with SquareEnix among others as companies I won't touch for their uncompetitive practices.
Nobody is ever going to force Sony or Nintendo to do the same. This mess just makes the gaming industry unpalatable overall. When Sony bought Bungie nobody forced them into this type of situation. All I see is corruption in all of this, I can't reward this behavior with my money.
It has to pass before anything. Sony is still being a baby about things. So when they grown up perhaps they can afford to buy nice stuff too. Until then all they can do is obstruct. And I will never spend a dime on a Sony product every again. I know I'm not the only one.
The DLC wasn't my cup of tea, to be honest FH4 to me is way better. I'm definitely going to be more critical when making future purchases. Gone are the days of buying ultimate upgrades at launch.
@BRT15 Some games seem to never go on sale like Elden Ring. But yeah, EA / Ubisoft games discount very fast. If I can at least buy the top bundle for base cost and already interested in the game.
My only problem is there isn't really a true this generation games. These are merely optimized for this generation. It's starting to seem like PC gaming will make a big comeback if neither console will embrace their hardware.
I chose Forza Motorsport with my reason mainly being, of all the titles it should be the one using Velocity Architecture with a peek at the future of this generation's technology. Hellblade 2 would be my next choice with all the updates we have been getting about the game, it looks very impressive using Unreal Engine 5.
@Dezzy70 Interesting. Microsoft seems to be fine doing the opposite. When they obtain a company it ends up on more platforms. I don' t buy that nonsense.
@Green-Bandit I wish I had better information but the technology they teased before the consoles launched just aren't what we are getting at the moment. How much is gained has yet to be seen but on paper it sounds amazing. Sony and Microsoft are both betting on this technology. So it's just a matter of time. I do think a pro version makes sense, I just hope they know what they are doing before they do it. Until we see something already promised, I don't believe they are ready.
@Green-Bandit There is a lot going on here that if you don't read into it, you won't find it. The idea of the Direct Storage Input allows the internal SSD directly using assets from the SSD instead of loading them into memory. This frees up the CPU and GPU to handle other tasks vastly improving games across the board, which may be more effective than just adding more power. To do this games have to be written differently than they have in the past. If they start to use these features they will know what needs to be changed to make a proper pro version or successor console. Just adding power is just brute force, the things driving next gen on PC at the moment are RT cores and AI machine learning via DLSS or FSR which the Series consoles use both RT cores and AI features including FSR. Direct input will be some next level stuff. I really wish they had things playable so people would understand. But this is likely the big reason we don't have pro versions for now. Even the Series S will start impressing when they get everything working as intended on paper.
@Green-Bandit It's not just Microsoft, the Playstation has the same problem. 3rd parties need to get onboard with the new hardware, part of it is on the console manufacturers to create tools for developers. First party games will roll out using some of these features. Epic confirmed they are working on Unreal Engine 5 to incorporate direct storage input. Not all developers are onboard yet. Consoles are a great environment to test because they are proprietary, it's just going to take a little more time, PC games aren't even using Direct Storage Input that I'm aware of. When they have it up and running pro models or successor models can be spec'd out to take advantage of things learned from making the switch. In my personal opinion which I'm sure means nothing to Microsoft and Sony, new hardware would be premature, and could be very costly if it doesn't work out like it did on paper.
@Green-Bandit When they get the Velocity Architecture working as intended they then need to get developers onboard with software development kits. It's been a while since gaming has taken a hardware turn like this. Even PC is still in early stages of using direct storage. The benefits will be huge.
@Green-Bandit The problem here is they haven't even figured out how to fully utilize the existing hardware. I would prefer they figure it out first so they can build a proper pro version or use that info for the next generation. We have yet to see what the Velocity Architecture with Direct Input and RT cores can even do.
@BBB FH4 was never deleted from my console and PC. I only uninstalled FH5 after the disappointing DLC. As a matter of fact I'm still working on the LEGO DLC on FH4. FH4 is just night and day better than FH5 to me.
Content that should have been in the base game. As someone who's been playing FH5 since launch. This update had me uninstall FH5 to play FH4 again. This is probably my biggest Forza Horizon disappointment yet.
Ubisoft alone doesn't have enough games to support paying monthly for Ubisoft+. Most of their games can be bought at a significant discount. I'm not sure how much sense this makes but I'm not against the service being there.
@Kaloudz When Sony is involved you can be sure something scummy is happening. If it's not Sony itself it's the toxic fanbase they've created. Personally after seeing what Sony is trying to do with the Activision/Blizzard acquisition, I could care less if Sony fell apart as a company. Not rooting for it, but I would definitely grab some popcorn and enjoy watching.
@Wiiiiiiii You could say the same for most games to be honest. Most specifically games that are using new technologies. This was released at a game developers conference. Not sure what else someone would expect. Even to realize the jump from when they made the original Hellblade is just amazing. I'm looking forward to playing this game more than a lot of other games releasing in the next couple years. Mainly because the original was soo good.
I used to like Resident Evil games until other games allowed a person to walk/run and shoot at the same time. I'm glad others are enjoying the remake all the same. These games always had a good plot/story.
They haven't even scratched the surface of what the current models will do. If they release an updated model, I don't know if consoles are worth it going forward. It would feel like I paid $500 just to be a beta tester. I'm sorry, I'm not in that business.
We have yet to scratch the surface of features to utilize the current hardware. It would be a mistake from either company until they can produce games based on the current technology. It would come across to consumers that purchased the current consoles. It would show as though they made a mistake and the current generation were just a bunch of Beta testers that paid $500 to participate in.
I don't know, to me rally was already in the game. This just feels like a game patch making the game what it should have been when released. If I didn't already have the content from buying the full version when released, I wouldn't buy this separately. I'll be looking at Forza games going forward a bit more skepticism. Good thing these games are on Game Pass now. I don't have to waste my money on half baked games. Going to be honest FH4 is better than FH5.
I personally believe Playground Games dropped the ball with everything FH5. This update will likely have me removing the game altogether. I can't even remember the last time I played the game. I actually play FH4 more than FH5.
@GodofCapcom Sony pays money for a non competitive environment. I read your comment and can only think that you didn't read the article. Sony has had a vice grip over Microsoft paying for marketing advantages that lead to a practical monopoly over Microsoft in the console market. Sony pays to keep games off Game Pass or the Xbox all together so they can boast the very image provided in this article showing that Sony regardless of this acquisition is still going to hold this advantage. I have zero sympathy for Sony in this situation. They sound like a bunch of whiney children throwing a tantrum. Not a good look.
