Oh boy, here we go! Sony's most recent business report features a bunch of information about how well the PlayStation brand has been performing lately, and as spotted by our sister site Push Square, it also includes a reference to Xbox.
That reference is found in a graph where Sony compares "leading category momentum" with Nintendo (Brand B) and Xbox (Brand C), concluding that PlayStation is the "strongest gaming brand". Here's a look:
Sony says these figures are taken from the "SIE Global Brand Tracker of Brand Momentum", with the "% of respondents indicating the general momentum of a brand" - that's all we know about the source of the data in the graph.
We're definitely not surprised that PlayStation has enjoyed stronger brand momentum than Xbox overall in recent years, although the release of the Xbox Series X and Series S — as well as the fantastic year Xbox Game Studios enjoyed in 2021 — would suggest to us that the gap has been much smaller in the past than this chart suggests.
But what do you think? Let us know your thoughts on these figures down in the comments below.
