Forza Horizon 5's second expansion, Rally Adventure, is finally now available to purchase and play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC, and first impressions seem to be that it's a great addition to the game.
There are only a few reviews on the web so far (we'll be bringing you our verdict just as soon as we've spent enough time with the expansion), but the early scores are very good, averaging at 81 on OpenCritic at the time of writing.
Here's an example of one of the reviews:
GamingBolt (8/10)
"Forza Horizon 5: Rally Adventure might not feel as different in its offerings from the base experience as last year's Hot Wheels expansion did, but it proves to be yet another chance for Playground Games to showcase how fundamentally fun the Forza Horizon formula is."
Something that seems to have been brought up a few times is how much fun the map is in particular. A lot of people are highlighting that it's actually far more enjoyable than the standard Forza Horizon 5 map:
Based on what we're seeing and hearing so far, it sounds like Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure is well worth a purchase if you're interested, and don't forget that it's included as part of multiple discounts on the Xbox Store this week!

It sucks that Microsoft can’t build their own games and have to buy studios. They are probably buying reviews too. Next your soul.
This was my take away from one day on push square.
Btw I love forza.
@sixrings had us in the first half….
Not too deep into the rally expansion yet, but so far... YES!
This feels like a big improvement over the base game (which feels kinda dull/dead).
Maybe one day we get a standalone Forza Rally game!
Also a city street racing Forza Metro (similar to PGR) would be nice too.
I loved the base game, I enjoyed the HW DLC and so far so good on Rally DLC. To me, this is by far Microsoft’s best game of this gen.
Loving the DLC so far. The navigation callouts got pretty grating after a race or 2, thankfully they can be turned off. Outside of that its been a welcome return to the game!
Just as noisy, silly and surreal as before. I really need the more grown up Forza Motorsport right away.
I got bored with the base game a LONG time ago. Never really took to the hot wheels expansion either (preferred the one on FH3). Have downloaded rally adventure though and will give it a go later today. If I don’t like it then I’ll be uninstalling the whole FH5 package, which will free up quite a lot of space!
About 10 minutes in I dug into the menus and was able to remove the left turn, sharp right turn blah blah blah.
Can’t complain, cost me all of £3.49 and February’s reward points. Graphics are superb, much less pop-up/in than Mexico. Not keen on the new music or the navigator, but both can be muted.
Rally & Off-roading are my favourite parts of Forza Horizon so I'm interested to try this out. Though I'll likely just buy the expansion bundle on a good sale down the line.
@antstephenson I'm definitely here for Forza Metro! PGR was such a great series, and there's really nothing that fits that bill anymore.
So far so good. Minor gripes in the Festival Playlist requiring you to mostly fully complete the Rally Expansion in order to do the weekly challenge for 100%. Would have been nice if they didn't rush us.
The pace notes for the Rally Events themselves are awful too, with them not being clear enough, accurate enough or sometimes just plain wrong.
But all in all it's a solid expansion. The aforementioned map is super! With every event having a race and rally there's a lot of content here too.
I personally feel original FH Rally expansion is still the better rally Horizon experience, but this is as solid an 8/10 as it gets in my view.
Content that should have been in the base game. As someone who's been playing FH5 since launch. This update had me uninstall FH5 to play FH4 again. This is probably my biggest Forza Horizon disappointment yet.
Its ok, Not that great. New does not mean Good. Just like the Hot wheels DLC. Lets see if anyone is playing this next week lol, Probably not.
@BBB FH4 was never deleted from my console and PC. I only uninstalled FH5 after the disappointing DLC. As a matter of fact I'm still working on the LEGO DLC on FH4. FH4 is just night and day better than FH5 to me.
Nice map, some decent races and it sure looks pretty.
The co driver pace notes get pretty annoying quickly, but you can switch them off and I enjoy the point to point rally races.
I'm gonna have a lot more fun with this than I get from the hot wheels expansion....
@Titntin @KonstantTrouble
Chicken!
Ngl, having a blast with this one! Very good addition to the FH franchise. Well made imo!
Edit: And indeed the Ford CMR is a fun car to drive. I haven't even tuned it yet!
@Nexozi "Chicken!"
If not wanting to have your game completely ruined by constant repeated phrases that drive you nuts after 2 races is somehow being a 'chicken', then I'm happy to cluck and flap my wings!
@Titntin OK u really turned off the co-pilot instructions that quickly. 😂 It's one of the random shout outs that's not needed where ur racing. In a few races it's like:
Medium left
Chicken
Medium right
Lol! I'm so sorry I never heard them say 'chicken' - even when I watched my wife playing it!
