@MrMagic yeah, I agree with you. And it’s a reason why I don’t like the PlayStation framework, their philosophy on game design as inmersive, emotional, technical fest, but lacking on gameplay.

When “Game Awards” are presented by movie directors, producers, and actors, something is very wrong. At least, not the thing I understand as “games”.

Hellblade is like that. And being on Xbox let us be more honest about the place these products belong.

Re: Talking Point: What Convinced You To Pick Xbox In The First Place?

My last Sony home console was PlayStation 2, from there I was surfing the waves with Wii, then Wii U. Suddenly, me and my friends had more time and money, and wanted to invest in a new main system.

We weren't interested in God of War and such, so we picked Xbox One X, due to a promising service and features, and the many titles we skip before.

In our first years we caught up with Gears, Halo, Forza, Ori, State of Decay, and a some multiplatforms. So, we came for the system aspects, and stayed for the games.

Re: Analyst Claims PS5 Outsold Xbox Series X|S Almost 5:1 Last Quarter

This is just console wars fodder. PlayStation has a bigger cultural penetration than Xbox in regions outside US. We have a huge casuals market playing F2P games in mobiles and consoles, some just want to play Fornite in theirs TVs, and PlayStation is the device they know.

In the dedicated segment, off course there are almost no reasons to buy an Xbox (vs PC), except if you want to enjoy the plug-n-play convenience it offers. Their service is top notch, I'd like to remark.

So, the real question if it's Xbox is selling enough to be sustainable, and attractive for third party partners. My impression is that Microsoft will move to PC architecture.

Re: Ex-Blizzard President On Xbox's Future: 'Xbox Can Find A Path To Great Success'

Sarah Bond talked about 'transition', so I understand they are moving from the classic home console manufacturer to a ubiquitous system ("every screen is an Xbox"). Still, they want to keep being the Xbox brand, so the install base is becoming alienated.

'Great games' mean something different to dedicated players and sales departments. Yes, It seems Microsoft wants to be Andréi Tarkovski and Michael Bay at the same time.

Re: Former Microsoft Exec Gives 'Two Reasons' Why Xbox Closed Bethesda Teams

These experts always have a posteriori analysis. I can't remember anyone telling these things during the ABK debacle years.

I think this is the kind of execs that work in these corporations. Always trying to interpret the current data, never having a vision, and wanting to risk money to make it possible. The only plan is making cash.

And that's good! for the marketing and sales deparment, at least. But, you also need the madmen, the dreamers, the storytellers in some key positions.

@theduckofdeath Yeah, I agree with you. My point is how Todd is always cunningly justifying everything. He could be more honest, or just don't say anything. I remember him saying 'Starfield is the game I always wanted to make, it's a dream come true' or something like that. He is very prone to do that kind of PR talking.
