Dragon's Dogma 2 is about two months away from launching on Xbox Series X and S, and Capcom is yet to officially provide performance details on the console versions of the game. However, a fresh rumour is doing the rounds right now that hints at a 30FPS target on pretty much every platform - fueled by a few different sources.
First off, PCFocus is reporting that a Japanese Insider claims a 30FPS target for Dragon's Dogma 2 on console. The outlet provides no other detail on that front, however the game's Steam page perhaps backs this claim up a little bit.
On Steam, the PC version of Dragon's Dogma 2 has its minimum and recommended spec sheets listed. Both of those spec lists mention a 30FPS target but with a higher resolution for the recommended specs - and this is on the PC platform where higher frame rates are more likely than on console, if anything.
That PCFocus rumour has also shared an IGN Japan article that confirms the game only contains one save slot in its current build.
At the time of writing Capcom hasn't come out to clarify any of this, but hopefully we hear some official information between now and the game's March 22nd launch. In the meantime it's probably best not to take this information as gospel as it's only a rumour at the moment - at least in relation to the console release.
What do you think to all of this? Does it look like 30FPS is likely on Xbox? Tell us what you think down below.

Woah that's real disappointed and I'm suprised by capcom
It wouldn't surprise me if it is 30fps. I am going to assume it is until they say otherwise.
Hopefully people will have the wits to see that it is a design choice and not a "series S is holding it back" issue.
It has impressive graphics, I’m good with 30fps if they are stable.
Phew....thank heavens this is not a Xbox Game Studios title, otherwise the meltdown would be hilariously predictable😅.
red dead redemption 2 no 60fps still sold 50+ million copies
That's gonna be a pass from me. The first was too action packed and played godawful at 30fps.
There's absolutely no way that this game will only run on 30fps on PC though, unless it is just one of worst PC ports in recent years.
@trev666 Red Dead Redemption is neither fast pace nor a niche game. And it also play at 60fps on PC
As long as it’s a stable 30fps, I have no problem with it. Can’t wait to get my hands on this one.
Thats just saved me £61.99 thanks Capcom
@Kaloudz It's pretty much never for creative reasons
This game will run at 60fps or higher on PC, almost guaranteed.
Having said that, it is a bit disturbing they are listing 30fps even on the recommended specs, 4k30.
But capping at 30fps on PC seems to strictly be for legacy titles where the framerate was tied to the physics/logic. IE Shenmue, Okami etc.
Guess I’m just gonna have to wait for a sale then.
Oh who am I kidding….i was always gonna wait for a sale
I can probably live with 30 fps on a large open-world game… but ONE save file? That’s a game breaker for me
I'm good with a stable 30fps (with stable frame pacing). Reminds me of how FF16 really struggled with the 60fps mode as certain developers teams struggle optimise games.
@Kaloudz Ah I see what you mean. I didn't buy for a second it was for creative reasons in the realm of cinematic motion, ie "let's make our game 24fps like film"
But as far as maximising graphics over framerate for creative reasons because they're determined to create a certain look/style/scope? Then obviously that makes sense.
Such as some Playstation exclusives for example like GOW 2018 and The Last Guardian, they had to target 30fps to get the most out of the hardware to achieve a high end, cinematic look.
But in this case with DD2? I'm not seeing why it can't run at 60fps with more aggressive LODing, lower resolution etc, if the player doesn't mind a slight visual hit. It's not exactly groundbreaking visually, and the first game was so much more enjoyable at 60fps on PC.
Meh no big deal.
PC version it is
Im not payin 80usd for 30 and no future performance mode
@KonstantTrouble just yo let u know the orginal gane has many many problems besides the fps issues which you can find on steam forums
PC will get 60 fps one way or another.
Copy pasting my comment from PS:
The RE Engine has clearly hit its limit now then. Up to now it has really only been used for contained, focused experiences like DMC 5 and all the RE games we've had out of it so far, this is an unprecedented game for it in terms of scope. No wonder they've had to begin development on RE Engine 2. Been a really good run, easily been one of the best in-house engines developed by any games developer. I can forgive the 30fps here because of this. I'm not going to deny myself the chance to play what I think will be 2024s GOTY.
@Kaloudz
"I'm fine with that. A lot of times it's for creative reasons. Plague Tale was the same and remains one of the best looking games of the gen imo. I'm sure the game will be epic either way."
Except that A Plague Tale: Requiem received a 60fps patch and it still looks beautiful, it is no longer constrained to 30fps.
It's simple for me. I will NOT be buying this if it's only 30fps.
@InterceptorAlpha Then buy it on PC. The first game ran at 60 fps on PC.
I couldn't care less if Xbox or PlayStation can't run it at 60 fps. Neither did Red Dead Redemption 2 until it came to PC as you mentioned. Also Dragon's Dogma is hardly niche anymore nor is its genre.
@Savage_Joe Nah not unacceptable, a stupid decision but Zelda had a one save file again last year and it still ended up being the best selling game of last year.
It makes even less sense in a game with a character creator but at least on PC, you'll be able to get around it just by moving the save file when you want to create a new character.
@TruestoryYep Weird of you to pick and choose what to respond to on my comment. As stated, Red Dead Redemption 2 is slow paced. 30fps is passable for slow games, albeit not preferred.
The comment about PC was due to the supposed lack of 60fps on PC. Had you read the comment and article before lashing out you'd have understood that.
And in what world is Dragon's Dogma not still a niche game? Even the MMO was a massive flop and was shut down after only ~3 years.
@Kaloudz DD1 is good yes. FWIW it's not my genre of choice, but within the genre I think Dragon's Dogma is the best game I've played along with the Witcher 3. Witcher 3 seems to have a more solid story etc, but Dragon's Dogma has better combat and is just a pretty fun game.
@Kaloudz Haha, make no mistake, it's quite different to W3. W3 is the bigger more polished game, better story etc.
But I think DD is a lot of fun, from what I played it was quite immersive and addictive and the best combat in the genre imo.
