Now that it's been more than a month since Xbox Developer Direct 2024, we're starting to think about Microsoft's next big gaming show. March is upon us, the evenings are getting lighter, and we're not a million miles away from the annual Xbox Games Showcase at this point. So, what do you want to see from this year's event?
It feels like there's quite a lot of 'potentials' on the table for the 2024 showcase. Plenty of announced first-party games didn't show up at Dev Direct '24 and could easily make an appearance in June, we have rumours of a digital Xbox Series X launching in the summer - and Microsoft has confirmed more hardware in some fashion for 2024.
When it comes to the games specifically, there's loads to go at. Just this week we've heard news of a fresh Fable co-developer which has brought Playground's reboot back to the forefront of our minds, and we have the likes of Perfect Dark, South of Midnight, Everwild and loads of other Xbox games that are surely due another showing soon. Honestly, there are so many options for this year's showcase!
We don't have a specific date for the event right now, but we know it's landing in June as per usual - the team said they'd 'see us there' during their special podcast update earlier this month. Last year's show took place on June 11th, so you can expect it to hit at a similar time in 2024.
Whenever it does air, what do you hope to see most from the show? Pure games, games, games from Xbox? A look at this '2024 hardware' we're supposedly getting? Or maybe even another update on Xbox's plans for bringing games to other platforms in the future? How about a mixture of all three?!
Comment down below and start speculating about what we might see from Xbox this June.

Crackdown 4 and Gears Tactics 2 please Xbox.
Thinking of June already?! It felt like January & February went by in a blink of an eye.
I would love to see more on Indiana Jones. That’s my most anticipated Xbox game at the moment. I would also like to see something on Everwild. Rare announced it awhile back. It went into a reboot or two. Last I heard they were thinking of something similar to Viva Piñata so I’m curious what they are cooking up for that game.
Really expecting a full slate of reveals. This is usually Xbox big showcase and this year I am very hopeful for big announcements on Fable and Gears
I’m really hoping for an update on Perfect Dark
I want to see the Xbox Quantum - the first Quantum video game console with unlimited power potential and the ability to send you to alternate dimensions - it also doubles as a pizza oven. 😛
I'll settle for more about Indiana Jones and perhaps some new details on Fable and Perfect Dark.
Some surprises that aren't years away hopefully. Can't say I'm too excited about any of the exclusives they have coming up that we know about. Hopefully a slight hardware refresh and perhaps the LONG overdue family gamepass plan
I'd like to see games that are actually coming out anytime soon
Release date for indy and avowed is a must (fingers crossed they hit the 2024 target).
Otherwise I think it's time to hear something Gears related. Updates on perfect dark, south of midnight, and Fable would be welcomed. Starfield DLC.
What is Tim Schafer/double fine working on?
Gears of war collection, Gears 6, Fable and Perfect Dark. The new controller that is less noisy and has haptics. Anything else would be a bonus. Just happy that HellBlade 2 and some others will be out so they don’t take up any more time.
Bonus points: Quake Reboot
@HonestHick +1 for the Quake reboot. That's my all time favorite FPS!
My wishlist:
Fable gameplay
Overclock gameplay
Midnight gameplay
Gears trailer
Forza horizon 6 annoncement
Call of duty games for gamepass
Starfield full mod support
Doom 3
The evil within annoncement
South of Midnight, Everwild, and Fable.
Oh and Gears of War 6, but only if it’s nearing completion. It’s a right pain when games are announced but only come out 5+ years later.
I won't hold my breath, but i would love to see Xbox go the way of PlayStation and have more Single Player, Story driven games like The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, Uncharted, God of War and Spiderman. Enough with the Souls like games and there are plenty of indie games to last a lifetime. Also, an Xbox specific bundle and partnership with Fortnite would be cool.
Gears 6
Gears Tactics 2
Marcus Fenix Trilogy Remastered
And for those games to never release on the PlayStation....
@TakeItEasy evil within announcement being?
ark 2
avowed
stalker 2
perfect dark! and they better have good goldeneye and perfect dark music. not whatever perfect dark 0 has.
Avowed in better condition a bit smoother and fluid in combat and game play and 2024 release date.
Indy some more gameplay and 2024 release date
In my dreams but bloody about time, Gears 6 gameplay and very early 2025 release date.
Will be 6 years in 2025.
I’m getting very frustrated with very slow development times as most can tell, that’s across all platforms. Like I said in the other thread, all employees taking massive advantage of working from home, and slowly game development down massively.
@Nic-Noc20th-C if they actually do it right, Crackdown 4 could be awesome. No more broken promises though like last time.
@hitmanfan47 it’s one of mine too. I do not and will not play battle royal fps games. I have no interest in building. I want to run gun and jump. I miss the days of fast paced arena shooters. I would love to see Quake come out and be some thing different in the FPS genre that is currently just wide open maps with minutes of time passing without seeing someone to shoot. That goes for COD to, the maps are huge for just 6 vs 6. Players are just hiding in a building with a sniper. Thats boring to me.
State of decay 3 (feel like it's been a while since announced), Everwild update, Gears 6 and/or Tactics 2, ID studio update, Fable release date, forza horizon 6
Guys, it's too soon to be asking these questions. I don't want to think about it or the time is going to slow down.
Not expecting anything, but here’s my wishlist:
I’m prepared to be disappointed when none of this gets shown.
@NarutosBiggestFan you mean the kind of games that have put PlayStation on the brink of disaster. Yeah, great idea.
How about some decent games that are playable at launch without being in a beta-like state riddled of bugs.
Another game like The Ascent would be cool.
I would like to see a party based rpg with action based combat. With tanks and healers involved. In a nice beautiful setting. No space, sci fi, guns, robots.
@BrilliantBill
I know, really not sure what’s going on with the studios of late.
But all I know is it has not been the same since covid and now this hybrid working.
It’s the same where I work, so there is definitely something with the WFH factored in.
Don’t get me wrong if you are the company accountant then WFH is probably ok.
But most employees jumped on the bandwagon that really should be at the work place, and that’s most developers included in that.
More recent JRPGs, maybe? 😁
