The Original Xbox for me. I worked in retail at the time and it really annoyed me how many customers would completely ignore the system in favour of the PS2. It didn't matter how impressive the first party games were or how much better multiplatform games looked and played, they just blindly wanted a PlayStation. To be fair, it was a masterclass in marketing from Sony, which is why the Dreamcast, despite having an amazing catalogue of exclusives, sadly never stood a chance either.

Thankfully things have changed since then.

@mousieone They didn't need to have anyone internally to work on it. They could have done exactly what Sony did and partner with Insomniac.

I could see this working if there was some kind of trade in centre. Maybe a retailer takes the games in and gives you codes for the games. Either that or sending them to Microsoft directly. I could be a good PR move from the point of view of removing plastic from the environment.

About time. This whole last gen thing needs to end.

I almost bought Hydro Thunder a week ago because I loved it on Dreamcast. Glad I didn't but am annoyed that I can't download it. What's happening Xbox???

This really isn't important. Does anyone actually care about getting 100% achievements for games? Surely that's not the reason to play a particular game. Ubisoft should not be expected to pay to run servers for the few people who still play their legacy games.

I own both so I've definitely helped those figures.

I'm ashamed to say I probably have around 500 games across platforms that I have never played.

I'm an idiot because I read that headline wrong and assumed it would be about the game Infamous on PS4. 😟

Anyway, fair play to Sony when they did this (although it pained me massively at the time). I think Microsoft would have done the same if the roles were reversed.

Why does this always seem to happen with Microsoft studios? Nothing ever seems to run smoothly. Is it too much control from Microsoft or too little?? 😟

It's funny that the last one was exclusive to PS4 given that the best version of SF IV was on Xbox 360. So much so that pro tournaments stopped using it favour of the Xbox version.

Hopefully this will be multiplatform but I'll probably buy it on PlayStation to have the full set on one system.

@SaltyG Really??? I think if you take a look at Push Square, you'll find plenty of people are talking about Xbox.

Game Pass, Acquisitions, Smart Delivery, MLB The Show. There are pretty much daily debates from insecure people on why Xbox is rubbish and PS5 is the greatest thing ever.

@munstahunta I completely agree. I just wish that more effort had gone into the Series S version. It will get improved over time and I suppose that's the way games are now. Most of them launch as a work in progress.

And again, I completely agree. Halo worked brilliantly well. Really brilliantly.

@munstahunta Saber Interactive ported the game to Switch and did an amazing job. CDPR had nothing to do with it.

If we know anything about this game by now it's that it hasn't been very well optimised from the start.

I own an S and an X and have been absolutely delighted with both for different reasons.

I'm certain that the S could achieve better performance in the right hands. I just can't believe that people were genuinely thinking that CDPR were those hands.

I really wanted them to focus on a Code Veronica remake. Help me out Capcom!

They had these for the PSOne, GameCube, PS2. Then I'm assuming that they stopped being made as there wasn't a market for them.

And now they're back for Series S for an insane price. Just seems mad.

This is completely unnecessary. Who is really going to buy one of these?

Microsoft is a far better destination for Activision Blizzard than Google, Amazon, Facebook, Tencent etc.

Xbox has earned its place in the games industry over the last 20 years and massively added to it. Sony couldn't have made that purchase, Nintendo couldn't have made that purchase, plus AB were looking for a buyer by all accounts.

As an owner of all 3 platforms, I'd like to see Xbox be more protective over all of the IP they now own to really highlight their offering. That will force the other platform holders to push themselves and their strengths further to compete.

I said this over on PushSquare but I'll say it again. Microsoft have always shuttered their last gen consoles fairly quickly. I worked in retail when the 360 launched and original Xbox consoles we had in stock were recalled by Microsoft pretty much immediately.

On a side note, I boxed up my One X the other day to make room in my main console space. Hopefully I'll actually get round to setting up a proper games room in my house to have all of my retro consoles set up so I can free it from its cardboard coffin.

I love my S but solely use it as a Game Pass machine. I have a huge collection of physical games and use my X for those. If I love a game on Game Pass I'll most likely end up buying it physically.

Rare themselves need a complete reboot. Their output over the last few years has been disappointing at best.

I realise that the people involved during their early years and heyday left the business a long time ago but, they're really damaging their reputation and legacy with the way they're doing things.

I do really like Microsoft and Nintendo being friends. There are a million reasons why this hasn't happened until now although I don't think it's fair to blame Nintendo. Why should they hand over one of their most treasured games to another platform holder just because Microsoft bought Rare? Nintendo published the game not Rare.

Now please make an HD remaster of Diddy Kong Racing.

I still think that the argument between PS and Xbox is moot.

Xbox want players in their ecosystem playing games on any platform they can. Console, PC, phone, tablet and soon to be built into TV.

PlayStation want people to buy their console and play only on their console. Unless it's a PC game 5 years after launch.

Watching Power On really showed me how forward thinking Xbox have always have been.

Also, Nintendo are actually winning the war on selling consoles currently.

I'm odd and have weird OCD tendancies. I have an Xbox One X for all of my purchased games (physical, digital and Gold games). I also bought Xbox Series S just for Game Pass games. I didn't want them crossing over onto the other and muddling up my library.

I also own 3 Nintendo Switch consoles. One OG Switch for TV and 2 Switch Lites (1 for physical games and 1 for digital).

I need help.

I just got my physical copy and I'm absolutely loving it. It's exactly as I expected. A smoother, more controllable experience is all I wanted and they delivered.

This is good. But also makes me more annoyed about the 100GB+ I needed to play Horizon 5. That is ridiculous.

It really doesn't matter because it will be review bombed by non-Halo players.

Seeing as how we'll never get this via backwards compatibility, I'm hoping that someone has the common sense to do a full HD remaster. Imagine this in 4k at 120fps with a Bacon Double Cheeseburger on the side. Xbox have been crying out for exclusives and this could be a serious game changer this gen.

@Blessed_Koz The movie analogy really doesn't apply here. Are you saying that the remake of Psycho with Vince Vaughn is better than the Blu-ray version of the original just because it's newer and made with more modern sets etc?

People go way too far over things like this. It's a game. If you don't like it or you think it isn't good enough then don't buy it. Devs and others getting abuse is completely unnecessary.

I bought an original Xbox as my 2nd system alongside my GameCube and it blew me away. It was such an absolute game changer.

With China just reopening a ridiculous amount of coal fired power stations to pump crap into the atmosphere, I think this PR stunt is a tiny drop in the ocean when it comes to destroying our planet.

Got this physically today and find it pretty shocking that roughly 12GB of 114GB is actually on the disc. It's an awful practice that is clearly designed to force people towards digital distribution rather than owning a game you can play out of the box.
