@Kaloudz I read it as preventing future pr issues of some people asking after the starfield event why wasn’t that stealth dropped. Or after the June event why no game stealth dropped.
Hell starfield comments last night on twitter asking why it wants there was already crazy
@dsar9012 the lions share of sales for these games are in Japan and the lastgen Xbox was non existent there. This gen is starting off different as we all know where Xbox is working with the developers/publishers to help make sure it hit Xbox’s And it helps with the Xbox consoles doing a lot better this gen (so far) in japan
@Krzzystuff The guy was the original person in charge of the Xbox platform like he did Phil's job before and for a bit after the launch of the original Xbox
And GPU, and gamepass PC or just console verison is available in quite a few Asian terriorties. Xbox has been pushing GPU with a bunch of popular vtubers. That has been a pretty successful marketing campaign
I feel like this guy is still upset in a way with what went down and how he left. Like Xbox has made headway in japan we have some game series that I never thought would hit Xbox (I know there is still quite a few missing)
@Kooky_Daisuke I wouldn't say it's greedy, as many f2p games shut down for ever fortnite there is a radical city, dwarin project, project spark etc So if ads could help a bit where the report is saying Xbox isn't going to take any revenue from it and make sure they fit for the games then why not,
@blinx01 @VisitingComet1 @Rmg0731 game announcements most times are for recruitment drives it is way easier to get someone to apply or think of moving if they know what they are signing up for. A great example is that star wars eclipse game that was announced in December that game at the earliest is coming is 2026 and that's if they can get people to sign up.
@mousieone A senior designer normally overseas a team handling a portion of the project in this case say they are handling a portion of the level design usually a specific environment like oh the forest/town area A lead normally overseas that entire part of the project
@Stocksy almost everyone I know pays full price. The general public is way to lazy to look for deals sure alot converted from gold to ultimate but after that expires (most didn't do a build up of a gold prior) they just let it charge monthly. And I'll be honest once my 2 years of gamepass ultimate lapses (from all access purchase) I'll probably do the same of just a standard monthly fee
@BAMozzy yeah my guess for square games specifcally is they always take the upfront money but you are right we know that some companies games are even based on hours played after a smaller upfront amount (paradox is the one we know has this deal)
Not sure why this analyst says not many publishers would take this type of deal. The game is out of its first quarter were majorty of sales are, the game was considered a disappointment. So why not recoup some cash and maybe with some talking about how great it is. Make a few extra sales in the process
@Medic_Alerttitle. Most times in gaming we don't see any games announced (I know Nintendo is its own thing and does do this) that we can play in 6 months. And yeah I play any games not just the newest ones, and that's each there own thing If you are someone who only plays games that are only the newest thing in the market, thats awesome and also a great way to game as well
@Medic_Alert I guess what that means to me is hey you are getting all of activisons catalog on gamepass which to me and a large segment of the Xbox ecosystem users is big gaming News. Knowing that when it closes can expect crash/spyro and call of dutys in gamepass is massive.
@Medic_Alert you know outside of them announcing one of the largest aqusitions in history.
But if you mean more things like Nintendo directs/ state of plays. I can agree once and awhile those are nice
@Bleachedsmiles first if this comes across as rude I'm sorry not trying to be, nor a defender of how or speak works as sometimes it's garbage.
But if you mean the activision deal they cannot even mention what the plans are until after the deal closes. As if they do it prior even mentioning plans, it could be breaking a few laws.
@KilloWertz nobody can right now as people are getting pouched And also a ton of new money is flooding the industry tk start new studios from investors is floating around this may not he indicative of the project (I could be wrong) but we have seen this alot in the last 6-12 months Most have non compete clauses so they have to wait out the timeframe then their new studios gets announced.
My guess to this is be instead of one 2+ hour long conference
They do one in may focus on games hitting this year. Then September's be games for 2023 Plus as a few mentioned there prior showcases didnt show gameplay. So this could allow for a bit more gameplay demos if you make each show 2 hours and give time to flesh out each game shown
@Krzzystuff I think they will have a 5-6 this year but this show is just indies no first party announcements. Redfall Starfield Forza Until dusk 2 smaller Xbox published games
It's a twitch showcase so be warned.. every one of them focuses also on random streamers to give "reactions" to the footage for more length then they show the games
@tanaka2687 so is it you hate him doing his job. (Guy has a show on giantbomb where it is mostly this thing). Or Jez who also is his man job as those leaks brings in the clicks for Windows central?
@Kooky_Daisuke I get you not liking specific games it's just the wording. I don't think you offended anyone.
Ill be honest I took it as you saying every game was just overall classified as garbage. I would say this is just generally the weakest month for gamepass that I can remember for myself (I also am enjoying quite a few games myself). Just doesn't have that same feeling like we had last feb-march or even last oxtober-december
My only problem is it's turned on for some games that are multiplayer focused. For aliens even as host I have to fully close and reboot or nobody can seem to join the lobby. But for things like Yakuza, nier it's a god send
@Tasuki touch controls are not my first choice but when I am laying in bed I like to sometimes play a game. So touch controls are easy to pick up play for 30 mins and out down. I actually finished 3 gamepass games this way
@Royalblues I hate seeing that as well thankfully Xbox this gen is finally getting somewhat noticed. And at least seeing a few releases.
At least we have a reason for limited run games, Xbox until recently had a minimum disk to print for any physical game. (I think it was 50 or 100 k) if you didn't plan to Print that many Xbox would decline the physical release. This seems to have been worked out as limited run games has announced there first batch of Xbox games are available this summer.
@themightyant but we do know gamepass users on average spend more on games then non gamepass members. And this isn't just games leaving game pass. The best example of this is Yakuza like a dragon did better then expected on Xbox due to fans of the other games being in gamepass And yes not everyone is going to spend more on gamepass some may spend less.
On topic as some have said I cannot see Xbox not putting indies on due to the avb purchase. They are an important part of gamepass, on conversation points. also to pad the amount of games hitting every 2 weeks.
@isturbo1984 Shannon Loftis was on stage a few times for e3 but the main thing she did for the longest time was being part of there publishing arm, for things like pgr and fable. And quite a few others But as the article said she was recently focused in the age of empires studio build
Would he pleasantly shocked if it was no one lives forever. As my understanding is nobody knows who owns the rights and trying to find out is an extremely expensive process.
@Tharsman Jeff grubb a few weeks ago said he heard that.Xbox was talking to Bungie but nothing concrete (I believe during grubbsnax and followed it up with but currently everyone is talking to everyone) and now speculates it was a bidding war. Which would make sense. As if I remember Bungie was said to be around 2 billion and most likely a 2.5-3 billion sale price. So the extra 1-1.6 billion could easily be a back and forth.
@NEStalgia yeah I can agree. As It .maybe they see what 1st party is doing in filling the gaps but if what we know and rumors are true it does look like 3rd party publishing is going hard in coop/mp route Never thought of the jp market as hear more and more stories of people picking up gamepass and a series s there
@NEStalgia first party I agree they let studios currently make what games they want.
But for 3rd party Jeff Grubb and jez both confirmed Xbox is out shopping coop/multiplayer focues games for gamepass. Apparently for this Xbox specfically was wanting a monster hunter coop focused style game. So they do want more of this style game. So it is either Xbox sees internal studios what they are making and plugging those holes with 3rd party or the Xbox publishing arm is very specfically just focusing on coop games
@FatalBubbles so this is a bit of a two point answer and some will provide some varing answers.
Multiplayer games spawn continued playtime more so then single player as much as Sony games sell 10 million copies which is one of the key metrics Microsoft is looking at is user engagement.
So when they see games like sea of thieves hittinhg 25 million and having (I think) 10 million unique users a month. And growing it's easier to get a bunch of large projects like this off the ground
The other is gamepass it's easier to get a friend to sign up to gamepass (if they are not) or stayed signed up if everyone in your friends circle is always planning a mp session of the next big gamepass title. (Why so many coop games hit gamepass)
Sure Xbox will throw us some starfields/avowed games which will grab a bunch of people but after 2 years will we see a new avowed updates like we just saw sot do today with their largest roadmap yet
@NEStalgia you make some great points but what do they consider a threat to them. Netflix sure considers disney+ as a treat but they gave stated forbite is there biggest threat. Do apple consider game consoles now as there biggest threat as people can spend money on that store front ibstead of theres also for using devices to do things like watch streaming services. I doubt they enter this space but I bet jez wasn't wrong that apple grabbed a few Xbox engineers to mess around in the space to see what it would looked like.
@S1ayeR74 even though android outsells iphone the indutry standard for mobile game development is iphone first then android. This is due to most Android users due not pay for games or not as much.
@Arcnail true but iphone sales are starting to wane.the pandemic has shifted alot of people's purchase, (they still sell a ***** ton of them) but it's about expanding like how Microsoft first went in with Xbox to compete with Sony.
On topic i think apple would explore and prototype this, as plenty of investment companies and tech companies are trying to enter the market, will apple actually release a product,That is another thing altogether

@Rmg0731 as the group selling square (investors/stock holders) won't care the slightest of who buys them out. It would be the highest bidder wins.
