Re: It's True, Xbox And Bethesda Will Host A Joint E3 Showcase

Terrin

@Grumblevolcano same I don't want any her I'd chi trailer of a game 3 years off. but still Microsoft's shows are usually 90 mintues and Bethesda range 60 to 90 mintues a large chunk of the show.
I also like seeing partner games some mid range ones usually appear and loosing those just wouldn't feel like a Xbox showcase

Re: Xbox Exec Teases Unannounced IP That Will 'Blow Your Mind'

Terrin

@NEStalgi

Edit: I hate it went they do say this stuff like I don't think I saw a mind blowing game in around 10 years. But I get it. They are doing a interview they need to feed the hype beast. Just irks me

Exactly alot had obligations to work on stuff

I also think people forgot how games Xbox did release last year.
Bleeding edge
Battletoads
Gears tactics
Flight simulator
Wasteland 3
Grounded went into early access

Not including re-releases of
Bards tale (the original Xbox one)
Wasteland remastered
The old Tim Shaffer games like from Fandango

Most are not bangers or big games (the re-releases do take resources)
But I feel with this kind of drops to keep the game pass machine fed every month made the start of this year bare where they propped it up with outriders and such

But I keep seeing Xbox didn't release any games last year when I think they dropped more then they ever have

Re: The Coalition Is Moving To Unreal Engine 5 To Focus On Next-Gen Development

Terrin

@Murray
Yes and no. If the engine isn't designed for what you plan to do it can make huge delays. Especially if tools are not in place for it.
A great example of this was frostbite where ea stated all studios had to use it going forward.
Outside of battlefield the engine wasn't designed for it and caused huge issues with mass effect Andromeda and caused a ton of issues in the sports teams.

There is very few universal engine like unreal and for some smaller projects unity.
Also the teams using the internal engines are taking alot longer.
Forza with just updating the enginre had gone from bi annually to 3+ years. Fable using the Forza engine is looking like a 5+ year project .
Halo using the new slipspace engine 6+ years.
Outside of them most are using unreal

Re: Another 12 Games Will Leave Xbox Game Pass Soon (May 2021)

Terrin

@KilloWertz
Strange I just rewatched the announcement ( this was announced back at xo19 feels like forever ago damn covid) but I guess I don't get the confusion the square rep just states and names every FF title ( post 7 minus 14) will come to game pass starting in 2020, nothing about them staying or all being in at once

But I agree there should be some way to tell when a title is set to leave game pass outside the generic 15 day timeframe.

Re: Rumour: Starfield Will Be An Xbox Exclusive, Could Release This Holiday

Terrin

@Grumblevolcano
I would say they are people who knew this prior to cyberpunk. Remember they delayed Halo infinite after marketing it for there big console release title.
Them not announcing a release date or mentioning suggests that they are waiting closer to e3 to see if it is possible to be out this fall.

Also everyone mentioning crunch you maybe right. But also it may justmean putting internal groups behind to help speed it along.

Re: Several Parties Interested In Buying Square Enix, According To Report

Terrin

@Tharsman don't forget alot of companies in most sectors take loans for acquisitions, but Ido agree with what you are saying.

Even if square does sell I am unsure who would take them as a whole. People forget they have a manga line, and a pretty big merchandiseine of action figures and other stuff.
Not including a bulk of revenue comes from mobile gaming

Re: Halo Infinite's First Esports Event Has Been 'Locked In'

Terrin

@InterceptorAlpha I am not gonna sit here arguging with you but if you need some information on a recent podcast 2 jez even heard that internally they planned to delay halo before the showcase.
Also phil told Ryan from ign in a interview back in April 2020 that covid was making game development more challenging and ryan asked if halo could be delayed.he said there was always a possiblity of this but it wouldn't delay the series x launch as that is set.

Game development is really messy and most projects look way worse then that demo until finished.
Why you see amazing game play reveals are normally pieces of vertical slices or what they hope projects look like. And when titles come out they don't look nearly as good.
Sure by the showcase I agree they should have state the delay. But there is way to many variables to say because fans call them out they delayed it. If that was the case right now sony would be giving mlb also in ps plus as fans are freaking out about that on twitter as well

Re: Halo Infinite's First Esports Event Has Been 'Locked In'

Terrin

@InterceptorAlpha you mean they should have seen a global pandemic had wfh development all set for that?

You should look up how much this has hurt the games industry some projects are delayed years. Think halo and alot of others we know about were already well into development.
To get battlefield out this year they had to scrap/pause the nfs title expected to hit this year to just try and help the development
Some developers were saying things that would take 5-,10 mintue to fix by sending files in the office now take hours to send back and forth

Re: We'll Hopefully Get A Look At The Next Battlefield In May

Terrin

@chicken_chaser

NFS was original due out this fall.. so it is possible that come November if they move them back to NFS they could have it out in 2022..
But again covid has messed up alot of things with gaming and if EA say was planning fallen order 2 for 2022 and fallen behind they could be shifted to whatever project is there.
It's scary to think but we may not see nearly as many AAA titles for tbenext 2-4 years due to how covid had stalled gaming

Re: Yes, Google Stadia Works On The New Microsoft Edge App For Xbox

Terrin

@elpardo1984 true in the resell market but again that's not making the original companies Money that is just hey I want this weird bad part of gaming history. But those are still massive flops. It won't be any difference say if stadia shuts down (like it will next 2-3 years) 15 years later there controllers even though will be worthless will net a small profit for people to just say they have one
