Man did we have some fun with this when it first launched, but the lack of content made us leave pretty early. It was a fun 2 weeks though.
It makes you wonder if game preview is actually a benefit to games? Had this released later with more content the player base may have stuck around. Instead my and my friends put around 10 hours in to it, had seen all it had to offer and then never even thought about going back to it.
I was really looking forward to this to scratch that XCOM itch. Luckily though I'm still knee deep in Starfield (currently on NG++++) so hopefully when I get around to it everything will be sorted.
Just about to hit the 100 hour mark in my play through. I've done all the faction questlines and looking at the achievement list I'm about halfway through the main story.
So many times I set myself a target for a play session then 3 hours later I'm turning the Xbox off knowing I did absolutely nothing I set out to do π
Still Starfield, about 80 hours in and only just got my first "Power". I've started playing around with the outpost builder now so messing around with different concepts before finding somewhere nice to make my home base.
I'd love to know where they get the data for these deals from. I got EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate edition, 10% off. I have not played a football game on my Xbox since 2010 maybe, the only sports game I play is NHL
@StonyKL In case you didn't know you can fast travel to another landing site without first having to go back to your ship.
It's a double edge sword really in terms of land vehicles. They would be great for the Barron, rocky wastelands but now I've been to a lot more planets with life there is no way vehicles could move around the forests.
@tallythwack the ship builder is incredible once you get the hang of it. There's no hand holding with it just an errors list that tells you if modules aren't attached or you haven't got enough landing thruster power etc.
I've spent at least 3 hours building my ship and it was well worth it. You are right though, different vendors have different parts aside from the common stuff, you also have to upgrade your ship building skill to use them all. I am hoping to find a vendor that has everything in stock somewhere to make life easier.
I've gotta say Quake 2 because I've only just started SoS, I know I'm going to love it but I can't see me picking up another game this year now Starfield has it's hooks in me
The fast travelling doesn't bother me but I have got a couple of negatives.
It needs some sort of vehicle/mount for surface exploration. The lifeless planets are so boring to get around. I don't mind walking on the planets with life though as there's plenty to see/scan.
The space part of the game feels bolted on. You fast travel to a planet just to see a big picture of it and chance of a random encounter. The combat is fun though when it does kick in.
I'm in love with the ship building, it's awesome. I spent an hour yesterday building an incredible looking ship to only realise I can't afford it π would be nice to save "blueprints"
2 hours til I'm home from work to boot it up. Reckon I'll get through character creation then off to bed.
Reading the lower scoring reviews they mostly seem to not enjoy the main quest line but the only thing I can remember about Skyrims main quest is climbing a mountain and fighting a dragon at the top. Can't remember anything of Fallout 4 π
Releases 1am UK time. I'm at work until 6am π, spend all night reading reviews. Get home from work, take the dog on the shortest walk be has ever had and cram as much Starfield in as possible before I fall asleep in front of the TV π
Like most I don't want to start anything serious as I wait for Starfield. I don't know why but I felt like downloading Viva Pinata for some chill gaming. Forgot how much I enjoyed it and my little girl is obsessed with all the colourful characters. I never played Trouble in Paradise so I may give that a spin after I pop the last achievement in the first game (Play for 50 hours), I can't be far off it considering how much time I played when it first released
My 18th birthday, 2005. I was first amongst my friends to get Xbox live. 8 of us in my bedroom with a mountain of beer playing Halo 2, 4 player split screen on a 14" TV. Played non stop for around 14 hours.
Don't like the sound of goalie fatigue. Seems like it will take away the opportunity for goalies to steal games. Happens plenty of times in real life where goalies make an insane amount of saves to win a game
@Spankmonkey Thank you for reminding me about Slightly Magic, it has been added to my favourites. I had it on the Atari ST so I'm glad the Amiga version is on there as well.
Had a blast on this over the weekend and don't regret my lifetime sub one bit. Even finding games I'd forgotten about just by seeing the cover art. Already completed 2 of the Dizzy games.
I'd like to recommend a game called "pushover" to people here. It's a domino puzzle game and highly addictive. Back in the day before save games when you had to write down a code for the level you were on. I'm pretty sure it was branded by "Quavers" too but that has gone for obvious reasons.
I hope the interface update allows to scroll horizontal menus with lb/rb or the triggers. That is my only criticism.
So much of my childhood on this list. All the Dizzy games are ace, I remember begging my mum to let me ring the helpline for some of those and the Lucas arts, waaaay before walkthroughs on the internet
If Playstation want the same quality version as Xbox but won't supply the Dev kits in advance doesn't that just mean that CoD on Playstation will always be a year or 2 behind to ensure the 2 versions are of the same quality.
Man I had so much fun with Outriders. This article reminded me that I purchased Worldslayers ages ago and have still yet to jump in. It has been bumped up my backlog.
@Ep_13 just to clarify as I watched this interview last night. Todd was asked directly if id helped with the gunplay as rumoured and the answer was no. Both Bethesda and id were happy with the gunplay already in the game. The studios collaborated on the graphics only as stated in this article.
Lamplighters League has been on my radar since it was announced, stoked it's coming to game pass. Sea of Stars and Galacticare look like my kind of games too.
I love Bethesda games but was a little worried about Starfield. Far from it now, I think they have made the last game I'll ever play. The ship builder alone will give me endless hours of enjoyment.
I really do hope I can buy a boat from Stan. My favourite character from the Monkey Island series. Already planning a session with my brother to jump straight in to this.
@Banjo- Lost Odyssey 100%, still one of my favourite JRPGs. Although a lot of people liked Blue Dragon I couldn't get in to it myself. Just my opinion though.

Re: Pick One: What Was Your Favourite Xbox Game Pass Game In September 2023?
Starfield, since launch I've played maybe an hour of Sea of Stars and 90 mins of Cocoon.
Currently on NG+++++++, determined to max all powers on the way to the final achievement of lvl 100

Re: Seven Games Are Confirmed For Xbox Game Pass In October So Far
Lamplighters league and Forza are big wins for me but that's only if I can drag myself away from Starfield
Re: Pick One: Which Is The Best Bethesda Game Studios RPG?
@romando you nailed it. Everything about Morrowind was groundbreaking stuff. I don't think another game will ever give me the same wow factor again.
Add in the fact that the construction set provided was super easy to use and it will forever be one of my all time faves.
Oblivion's and Skyrjms RPG elements always felt dumbed down to me in comparison.

Re: Call Of Duty's Biggest Ever Xbox Sale Is Now Live, 40+ Deals Included
@Bobobiwan Call of Duty: World at War is and always will be my favourite CoD campaign. Followed closely by the original MW1 and 2.
Re: 13 Useful Mechanics Starfield Doesn't Tell You About
The thrusters are a game changer for space combat. A few dodges and a boost and you can take very little damage in the initial joust

Re: Roundup: Here's What The Critics Think Of Starfield So Far
@CallMeDuraSouka I read the Destructoid review and it made me feel a little sick inside π
I always find 10/10 reviews suspicious, especially if they actually point out some negatives. Surely that can't be a perfect score then.
Regardless, I don't pay much attention to scores of reviews, more the written word although I do tend to find myself drawn to lower scoring reviews.
Played for a few hours and have enjoyed what I have played. Not really set off on my own yet though, that's when I really get in to Bethesda games.

Find a bow and make a stealth archer character.

It says that new titles will be added weekly, does that mean that some will be leaving too? If not that lifetime pass looks pretty tempting.

Getting really bored of this underdog crap now. Low share player? You have a small install base, your problem not Sony's.
Exclusives were a thing before Sony entered the console space
You used to have system selling exclusives yourself, what happened there?

Re: Here's The Email That Set Sony's 'Alarm Bells Ringing' Over Xbox ActiBlizz Deal
I like the part where Jim talks about equal distribution on subscription services.
I read it as if you are going to release ABK games on Game Pass day and date they need to release on PS+ day and date too
