It's that time again! We're big fans of the Microsoft Rewards program here at Pure Xbox, which allows you to complete tasks in order to earn redeemable points which can be spent on gift cards, donations and much more.
July 2023's "Monthly Bonus Round" challenge has just begun, and by satisfying a few requirements by July 31st, you can top up your account by another 1000 points (around £1 / $1).
These punch cards usually give out 2000 points, but that's sadly not the case this time around!
You'll find this punch card on the Microsoft Rewards app for console, and here's what you'll need to do:
- Launch the Rewards app on seven separate days
- Complete Bing on any device for 5 days
- Complete 2 weekly sets
Along with this, if you log into the Microsoft Rewards dashboard on a browser, some regions will find a "Summer Destinations To Explore" punch card for 50 points, as well as a Sea of Thieves punch card for 15 points.
If you're new to the Microsoft Rewards program, this is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of obtaining points - you can also earn hundreds per-day by completing Bing searches on PC and mobile, earning Achievements in Xbox games, finding Weekly Treasures, pre-ordering specific games and much more.
Note: Not available in all regions. Full regional details have not been provided by Microsoft.

Really wish they'd stop f*****g around with the reward system
I only got my Series X back a few weeks ago and have already added around 10,000 points to my total, bringing it to around 16,000. I use Bing on my PC and mobile anyway so that makes it easy to get extra points
1000 now?!
So price increase and reward points drop at same time?
That’s well unfortunate
What's even the point anymore? They keep reducing how many points you can get and taking away opportunities to earn points
It was fun while it lasted
I used to be able to earn around £10 a month from microsoft points with very little effort which paid for gamepass.
Recently, with points not tracking and reduced rewards, its getting closer to £5 and taking much longer.
I hope we start getting some decent gamepass additions soon or I may cancel at least until Starfield comes out.
It's just not worth the hassle, especially as I haven't used gamepass since Hifi Rush.
I have to think this is per result of the Game Pass price increase. Don't raise the price of the rewards, just lower the available points instead, resulting in more labor and engagement to attain the needed points. I've basically gotten to where I only do the daily stuff on the PC, because I can just do it at work on company time. But to chase every last point available between console, PC and mobile just has an awful ROI, in terms of time sank, at this point.
Unfortunately getting points is becoming harder. I still do all missions everyday but had to start saving them for games I really wanted instead of getting smaller ones periodically as I used to.

@Banjo- Nothing that requires my time is actually free. My time has value, same as my money. If anything, time is actually far more valuable resource than money, because once it's spent it can never be earned back.
@SplooshDmg Then just pay for it, I guess. No problem and no waste of time that way.

@PsBoxSwitchOwner This is not your first time and I don't have nothing else to argue with you, so don't send me more notifications.
@SplooshDmg not to mention that Microsoft benefit by us doing these searches etc.
@Banjo- That's not my point. I use the parts of MS Rewards where I find the ROI to be worth while. But I also think it's naive to think this is just "free". It's anything but. We've invested time into this, not money.
@Banjo- sure. Enjoy the rest of your weekend
@PsBoxSwitchOwner Yup. We're basically just volunteering to work for MS to generate them ad revenue, then they give us a sliver of it. I'm not against it, but they're really making this a lot harder sale than it used to be.
@SplooshDmg What Microsoft does is exactly what Google does but Google doesn't "pay" you. For me, the points that I get are free because I use Bing on my laptop and mobile phone anyway. I don't pursue Quests, so I'm not wasting my time to get a few points. Just by playing Game Pass games that I was going go play anyway, I get points for every daily achievement. However, I respect and understand that for others it's a waste of time. They can just pay for Game Pass or just not use it at all. No problem with that! I don't get a commission. As a gamer with many consoles, including a Switch and a PS4, Xbox has given me more credit and free games in one generation than the rest of my consoles together, so I find it odd to complain about this but okay.
@Banjo- The reward program is an entire program, it is not limited to searches you would have just naturally made on your laptop or phone. They have been consistently lowering the reward points given for completing daily and monthly tasks. People have every reason to not like that. This article highlights that what was was normally 2000 points is now only 1000. That's a huge difference. They expect us to do the same thing for less. I'm sorry, but I won't cheer for that.

I know that.

And where did I say that people don't have the right to not like anything??
SplooshDmg wrote:
They don't expect anything. They don't care if you do Rewards or just pay for the service.

That's perfectly fine, as I clearly said before. For me, it is still great value. Why would I say the opposite of what I think?
Slowly but surely gutting the Rewards system. Only reason I've considered keeping Game Pass Ultimate were the extra Rewards Points, but by the time the option to renew comes it might not be worth it.
@Banjo- Oh, maybe just the part where you said you find it odd to complain about this. Which is basically the same as telling us to all hush up and take what they're willing to give us. You do you, mate. I'm not replying to this comment section again. I have other stuff to do.
@SplooshDmg I just expressed my opinion. I only replied to you because you addressed me. I didn't say anything remotely similar to what you understood. I said that "I find it odd but okay." That literally means that for me it's odd to complain about it but okay if you or anyone do, and it was just a reply, I didn't start anything nor I told anyone to hush up. It was the other way round, actually.

I recommend you reading well before jumping to wrong conclusions and replying in such ways.
What I said is completely the opposite:

Microsoft can buy ActiBlizz, but those rewards were just too much!
A lot of their monthly rewards have been cut in half recently. Not a great deal as it's still pretty easy to get enough to renew gamepass each month. Not sure why so many people seem entitles to unlimited free stuff though they are still a business after all. While I'll admit I have taken advantage of the rewards system to not pay for Gamepass I don't think I am owed the rewards system and a higher amount of point simply because I have been using it up until now.
@SplooshDmg I also have found that I’m less inclined to pursue getting the points because it’s becoming less points for more work.
@Moonglow looking at what the company has done to the program since the start and midpoint of the year, it’s not bad enough for them to get criticized for making these poor decisions. Cutting down points significantly while jacking up costs on certain things like game pass now which is going to include the digital code on the rewards program is a joke. This is an example of corporate greed and MS will certainly lose a lot
@Zenszulu with the cost of game pass going up on Xbox while pc remains the same and lesser points, it’s pretty insignificant now. MS made a really bad decision
@RUNNINGDUDE1 bad decision? Inflation in general is an issue all over the world and prices for everything are increasing so it more than likely explains why a free rewards system would suffer as a result. They aren't exactly responsible for global inflation.
@Zenszulu using inflation is no excuse to dramatically cut down points. Lesser points means lesser ways to redeem points. The way ms has cut down massively on the program half way through this years, they ain’t done
