It's not even been 48 hours since EA Sports College Football 25 arrived on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S as part of its Deluxe Edition and free Game Pass Ultimate trial, and it's already proving extremely popular.
In fact, it's been so popular that some reporters are suggesting that it's led a huge spike in Xbox console sales, specifically for the Xbox Series S. Here's what Insider Gaming's Mike Straw had to say about this on Tuesday:
Obviously we've got no concrete facts here to back this claim up, but we do know that College Football 25 has come close to one million concurrent players already - and the full release doesn't even take place until this Friday!
We've played a little bit of the game with that free Xbox Game Pass Ultimate trial so far, and our first impressions are very good indeed. If you're interested in checking it out, we've got some details elsewhere on Pure Xbox:

That's surprising, actually. I guess for those who just want to play the game at the lowest price, the Series S is the perfect purchase.
Out of all the games to sell a console i very much doubt this is going to be it
@DeanyBabyy why not sports games sell very well
@DeanyBabyy probably will have a short spike in the US because of NFL Support over there.
But with no numbers, what is a spike? 10% 50? 100+? What’s an average days sale etc etc?
@DeanyBabyy college football in the USA is very large. Having more teams being spread across the USA allows more fans to connect with a more local team vs NFL
I actually know a couple of people that did just this. They traded in their XBOX Ones for a Series S and College Football 25.
Ill happily stans corrected then guys, My bad..hope everyone who plays it has fun
Can't wait to play it and take Boise State all the way!!!
@DeanyBabyy I'm not sure if your an American, but college football here in the states can be treated like a religion. A guy actually poisoned a rival team's 100 year old trees. That's right trees he poisoned trees and then called a radio show to gloat about it.

So selling some consoles wouldn't shock me.
hope I didn't break any rules for the link.
Needs a patch a created fake team
Should run up the middle at will and the tackles are too slippery
@DeanyBabyy over 700k was playing the game so I wouldn’t be shocked
This shows microsoft that a with right exclusive game/ games they could still shift the xbox series.
They just need to find their Pokemon, Call of Duty, Minecraft or whatever and keep it exclusive.
Maybe even collaborate with influncers such mr Beast or The Sidemen. Whatever they touch seems to turn into Gold.
However it needs to be a must play game that the world wants, or simply must play.
But with such a competitive market and so many ways to play games these days I understand this a huge task for any developer and may now be impossible.
Im absolutely loving it. Been 10 long years and my ps3 (coz its region free and im in the uk) and NCAA football 14 has been played constantly and regularly but finally it can take a break.
Just playing campus legend at the moment and it’s great. A few things missing that should be in but to have a college sports game again. I can see why it is shifting consoles.
@Stocksy I am really enjoying it too the road games are awesome.
Dynasty is def good right now im trying to win the big XII just beat the cowboys at home. One thing I do not like is it subs the defensive ends out to often and for to long.
