This was so beautifully done. I love how much story was told in 3 minutes and how well they made you attached to the two Marines, if I finite does half as well with its story as this trailer then 343 finally found their stride.
Between this and the flights, my worries have not only been pushed away, but I’m extremely hyped for this now. I normally ignore my birthday, which is the 9th, I’ll be taking it off of work this year and playing this all day!
@Would_you_kindly I definitely would. The flight made me a lot more optimistic about Infinite, but I’d still like just a small glimpse at the campaign to see what they’ve improved/changed. For me, the gameplay is the best Halo’s felt since 3, I’m just hoping the story backs that up.
@LtSarge I have a bit of a back log (like most gamers), but I think you’ve convince me to give it another shot. I loved the environments and enemy designs, but for some reason the rest just didn’t resonate with me. Like you and @Magabro said, I may not have been in the right mind set for it at the time. Worst case scenario, I’ve lost several hours to a game that isn’t for me, best case scenario I’m thrilled that my original feelings towards it were wrong. Thanks for the feedback!
I feel like I need to go back and try the first one again, I bought it at launch and hated it, but I see so much praise for it that I feel like I missed something.
I can’t wait for this, I loved Outer Worlds, but I’m a bigger f stash fan than sci-fi, so I’m all in. I love that two handed magic is needed for some of the most powerful spells. I hope they stick with the length of Outer Worlds, it was perfect for me, not too short, but not bloated or too long either.
@Hurblyburbly that’s good to know. I’ve really enjoyed the difficulty so far, so I’m curious to see how it gets later in the game. I got to the lantern beast and just about beat him on the first try, I just needed one or two more hits, but I didn’t have time to try again. That fight reminded me of Dark Souls in the speed and ferociousness of the fight.
@Hurblyburbly I’m really enjoying it. I love that it feels like a PS2/Xbox era game, but still new and fresh. I’m finding Taro’s relics and clearing the shrines right now. One of the boss battles in there took me a few tries, between it being a surprise battle and there being no healing around it was tough, but I like that it’s deceitful on how difficult it is, it looks like an easy charming game, but it’s not.
I played the boy version for an hour, it played great. It’s the closes 343 has come to feeling like Halo for me yet. It makes me a little more optimistic about the campaign.
I got my invite. As into Death Loop as I’ve been, I’ll pull myself away for a few matches. I’ve been very vocal about my concerns with Halo Infinite, while this won’t ease any of my campaign concerns, I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays and feels.
@themightyant I agree with you, I think this is a huge part of it as well, but for me, it makes me more nervous. I understand being reluctant after the last showing, but after all of this time it shows to me they still aren’t confident in their own product. I’m really hoping I’m wrong on that though.
@Dezzy70 I’m really hoping they surprise me, but it’s just hard for me to get excited when they won’t show us anything but multiplayer (something I don’t care about). With the size of the studio and the finances of MS backing them they should be able to deliver something astounding. I’d even have more faith if they pushed it back again, at least that’s give them time to show it off some and get co-op in there (again, something I don’t care about a ton, but is a huge draw for many).
@Dezzy70 the closer we get the less faith I have in their campaign, they don’t even seem to have faith in it considering they’re only really sharing multiplayer. I’ve never been nervous for a Halo campaign until now, thanks to their own silence and because I found 4 to be fine and 5 to be a huge disappointment.
I think my three favorite OG Xbox games are Advent Rising, X-Men Legends and Escape From Butcher Bay. It’s criminal that I can’t play any of these through backwards compatibility. I’ve even considered rebuying an original Xbox just so I could play these.
@CrazyJF I’ve heard such great things about that game. I really want to grab it but have been waiting for a sale since I already have so many games in my backlog.
I’m really hooked on Deathloop. I’ll be heading to a friend’s today to play our first session of Alien RPG, then back to Deathloop when the kiddos go to bed.
I will agree with one massive exception on The Path of Neo, the final fight of that game was absolutely atrocious. When they literally told the player they were going to give you a massive end battle instead of Neo vs Smith (the way he should be), it completely took me out of the game.
The complete lack of communication over the campaign makes me concerned. I couldn’t care less about multiplayer, so the radio silence makes me worried that they don’t have faith in their own product. I wasn’t a big fan of 4 or 5 either, so this one really needs to deliver for me to stick with the series.
More Halo multiplayer and no campaign was enough to leave me completely disappointed. Admittedly, I’m all in for Midnight Suns, especially if Magik is a playable character.
@Xenomorph_79 I’m not a big fan of Rogue Lites/Likes, but I did enjoy Hades, even that lost me though. I see why people love it so much, I just, like you, get sick of doing the same runs over and over again. If it had that same gameplay without the Rogue elements it’d be the perfect game to me.
@stinkyx I know exactly what you mean, one of the best gaming moments I’ve had was in Crysis 2 taking out enemies using stealth at the church. That level design was so masterfully done and complimented the powers so well. I had such a great time with it that I still remember the feeling I had after getting through it.

@FriendlyOctopus thank you! I’ll play that until it’s time to pick up my kiddos, then it’s sushi and a movie with the family, my usual tradition.
