Ten More Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass This Thursday

My son will be so excited for Paw Patrol. I almost bought him it on Switch, glad I didn’t.

MK, the Gunk, Broken age and Lake. Game pass is king of the gaming world. On top of all that you got Halo, and Forza. My brother's PlayStation 5 has collected actual real dust lol. I visited him yesterday and he's been playing Game pass on pc. He offered to sell his PS to me. I said no. I'll wait for PlayStation to have enough games to be worth it lmao

I really enjoyed Firewatch back in the day. I highly recommend it if you like story driven games. I may replay it again.

It's nice to know I can test out the limits of my new PC by playing Race With Ryan. Good stuff.

@Ihavenomouthandimust My PS5 has been collecting dust ever since moving over to PC lol. Most (former) PS exclusives are coming over to Steam anyway in the next couple years. Thinking of trading it in tbh.

Firewatch going straight to my backlog for early next year

@Ihavenomouthandimust @Razputinman I've always wondered what Playstation owners are playing in between the Playstation first party Exclusives. I guess there's multiplayer games, if not them then buying new games every few days. The only problem is that would cost a lot of money. I used to have a playstation 4 and would go months without playing it.

I bought a ps5 few months back...after the initial first 2 months of playing some off the exclusives they all ramble so much about...I'm fully back to playing on my series X....only using my ps5 at the moment for warzone and that's literally it because you can turn crossplay off to escape the pc cheats...I didn't own a PS4 I thought there would be loads of exclusives to play...turns out there isn't particularly that many given I missed a whole generation

@Chaudy what an odd observation. They do what most other console owners do. They just play games. You don't have to buy a new game every few days when you want to play something.

@Ihavenomouthandimust that's a bit narrow minded, don't you think? I bought mine for the games I wanted to play there, with the mates who also use the system. Just in the same way that I've been playing my XSX more recently (Halo), and my Switch the month before (Shin Megami). I go where the fun is. Nothing to do with hype or brand. If you don't like the platform, just enjoy what you enjoy.

Game Pass is just too good

@Chaudy if I want a game, I buy it. Then I play it. Then I wait for another game I want to play, or play something I already own that I haven't got around to starting. There is a substantial backlog for PS4/5 that I still need to get around to. Lots of things I either picked up in a sale, or was gifted etc.

This isn't a new concept. This is what happened for about 30 years prior to GP existing.

@AhabSpampurse that's exactly what you didn't understand in my initial comment. You have keep buying games, which means you keep spending more money. The more you want to play the more money you have to spend.

Contrast to gamepass, where you keep paying a monthly cost and keep getting new games to play every 2 weeks. I'm not saying there's nothing to play on Playstation, there's obviously lots of games. The difference is the money you have to spend, not everyone can afford to do that. For example even if you consider indie Games, most cost around £15.99 on Playstation, gamepass is only £10.99 and you are getting hundreds of games for that. So my point is, most Playstation owners would have to keep spending a lot of money Game after game if they never wish to stop using the Playstation otherwise you'll easily get Days where you finish a game and then wait a few weeks to buy another one.

This is why when I had a Playstation 4, i wouldn't use it for weeks and sometimes months because I couldn't keep buying new games to play after one finished.

I actually quite like that these games exist. They fill that PS2/Gamecube/Xbox licensed game hole that has opened up in the last few years.

@AhabSpampurse peoples tastes in games are different so everyone's view is subjective, I have a series S and a playstation 5 and I game on the PlayStation around 80% whilst xbox 20%, doesn't mean the xbox is bad or has bad games it just means there's more for me to play that I'm interested in on playstation

I really like xbox. Ive been part of the community since the original Live Beta with MotoGP.

But I also really like my PS5 and Switch. Everyone is eating good right now. Xbox, Sony and Nintendo fans. Just enjoy it for what it is without belittling the competition. Channel your inner Phil.

I must admit that my PS5 is gathering dust too. I have only bought a couple of PS5 games (Miles Morales with the PS5 version of Spider-Man and R&C: Rift Apart) and have Horizon:Forbidden West pre-ordered. It's picking up dust because I have far more games available, many 'new to me' games to try on my Series X.

That being said, if I only had a PS5, then I would still have a LOT of games as I have a lot of PS4 games to finish and probably would of bought the multi-platform releases I bought for Xbox - games like AC:Valhalla, Guardians of the Galaxy etc.

I maybe fortunate to own 'both' consoles and I'm sure I would have 'more' PS5 games if I hadn't subscribed to Game Pass. It obviously doesn't make sense to buy Back4Blood, MLB21 (not that I would anyway) on PS5 etc if I can play for free via GP on XSX but for those with 'just' a PS5, they can still buy and play those games - as well as all the PS4 games too.

I have owned every gen of PS and XB - inc both mid-gen upgrades. The PS5 is still a great 'Console' (even if ugly and unstable when horizontal) and if I didn't have Game Pass, would get far more use. It would be a 'tough' decision as to which platform I'd buy multi-platform games for - a bit more 'resolution' (in general) vs more haptic feedback.

Each to their own of course, but from my perspective, Game Pass has transformed the way I game and as such has had an impact on where I game more - that is also helped by some of the decisions Sony have made around pricing and in particular 'upgrades' which is why I haven't bought many games on PS5...

@Odium lol I saw that and thought the same thing. I also love the MK story campaigns so I'll be giving that a playthrough at some point. The Gunk is also a must play....at some point.

@Krzzystuff That's actually a good point. I wasn't planning on playing Mortal Kombat since I'm not into 2D fighters, but if the story campaign is good then I might give it a go!

@BAMozzy I am in the same boat. I have a Series X and PS5 and my PS5 is a glorified 4K Blu-ray player at the moment. That's only because I chose to use my PS5 for exclusives-only (same with my Switch) where my Series X is everything else.

I get Game Pass Ultimate for free for...legal reasons I can't disclose...and it's been fantastic! It's probably even sweeter for me as the games on Game Pass are literally free for me.

Once 2022 comes around and things like Horizon and God of War release, then my PS5 will get some use; but it will be back to the Series X once those games are done.

If I only had a PS5, then obviously I would still have plenty of games to play, just not for free!

Looking forward to Firewatch and The Gunk. I will even give MK11 a try!

Not quite sure how this turned out to be a PS5 sucks and they have no games to play on it discussion. Couldn't be further from the truth, especially if you have a backlog from the PS4, but anyways I'll have to look into some of these games as I have no idea what any of them are outside of MK11 and The Gunk.

Really looking forward to The Gunk though. I've had it pre-loaded since the weekend, but I likely won't get to try it out for a little while. Hopefully it turns out to be good.

@Spaceman-Spiff Unfortunately, mine already has been. He’s obsessed with the Lego games and the Toy Story 3 game (which is, admittedly, great). I’d buy him a SS if my wife wouldn’t kill me just so I can have my SX back. Though part of me is a proud gamer dad watching him develop his gaming skills.

@LtSarge i used to think I was good at fighters until i tried it online....just turned out that my friends sucked even more lol.

But yeah the NetherRealms games always have pretty good single player campaigns and that's what i play.

Mortal kombat is a nice addition. Played the heck out of it on ps4. Very polished beat em up. Must admit, as a playstation fan boy im really quite pleased with my new series S. If it wasn't for the fact of very limited internal storage which is needed for the ever increasing S/X enhanced games i would use it as my main console. I store everything not enhanced on an external HDD but i refuse to buy one of Microsofts overpriced SSD add ons. Not having to pay for xbox unlimited is also amazing. Earned myself 12000 points in the first 3 weeks. Enough to buy another months unlimited.

@StylesT I love my Series S and play it 90% of the time but I played my ps4 for years and there is an epic catalogue of games there to dive into.

As I suspect for a long time, Microsoft is driving so hard with Sony that you do not know what is happening on the market.

Next year, only Horizon comes out, because Forspoken looks terribly poor, and GT7 is one big unknown. And again, a thin year for the Playstation.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has already announced several exes and a few games in XGP. There are so many blows from each side that Sony is unable to defend itself. Microsoft attacks in every field.
We will get at least Starfield, Redfall, Stalker 2, CrossfireX, Replaced, Scorn (unknown here), and in XGP Sniper Elite 5 or A Plague Tale Requiem, which will be multi-platform, but who will buy at a high price, when it will be cheap in XGP?

Sony's offer looks like for the poor, but for a lot of money that the poor don't have.

MK11 is fantastic, the best MK yet!! Already have it on PS5. Will this version include the dlc characters that came out a while ago? My fav character is Rambo. His fatality is sick!!

@GamingFan4Lyf I think a lot of us do the same. PS for exclusives, Switch for exclusives + things we'd rather play handheld, and Xbox for literally everything else. It's just the more featureful digital ecosystem for those multiplats.

Except Horizon and Ragnarok I see as 2023 releases, because Starfield will be out and as a mammoth TES fan I assume will consume much of my year, and will be "free" on my sub. And there's no chance I'm paying $70 for those other games, I'll wait until they hit $45 or so.... maybe $50, if I even finish Horizon 1 by then.

@WallyWest I know they are playing non first party games. Just saying they have to spend way more money to have something to play consistently in comparison to someone with GamePass

@Chaudy Believe it or not that's how people played games prior to Gamepass, you remind me of the Netflix generation who struggle to understand the concept of actually buying and owning a film. I'm subbed to Gamepass but i actually still buy the games i really like or really want to play like Halo Infinite because i like owning my games in some form.

Maybe consider that there are people out there who actually need gamepass because it makes games much more accessible for them. @Chaudy I'm subbed to Gamepass, it was a great way of catching up on all the X1 games i missed last gen and its also a great way of trying games i might not normally buy due to not knowing much about them, with XCloud its even better as i don't need to download them to try them as i can play for an hour and if i like it i will download it or buy it, its also how i'm currently playing Forza Horizon 5 as i plan on buying it when the version what comes with the season pass or whatever they named is on offer. So yeah i get and love what Gamepass offers but for many people they aren't bothered if they have to buy games, if Gamepass was this be all and end all service then the PS5 would be struggling but as it is its "winning" and clearly by a lot considering scalpers are charging way more for them, clearly owning games is still what the majority prefer, i mean look at last year and how the Switch dominated lockdown as everyone wanted Animal Crossing and Mario Kart.

@WallyWest yeah that's great that a lot of people like to own Games but a lot of people also prefer gamepass. Due to accessibility, consistent stream of games etc there is an audience for each scenario. Basically again it just depends on what you as a gamer prefer and can afford.

@Ashadelo You still did ok buying MK11 Ultimate since the edition that will be on Game Pass very likely won't have all the DLC that comes with the Ultimate Edition. I'm still going to consider buying it when it gets really cheap again even though it'll be on Game Pass because I want the DLC and eventually (likely a year) the game will be off of Game Pass anyways like a lot of others.

I'll play The Gunk for sure, and possibly Firewatch as well.

I live in China and never imagined I would get gamepass. But I was looking at how to play Diablo 2 online and decided to pick up a year of gamepass for D2 Online, Halo and Forza. But it ended up turning into the biggest gaming blessing I have ever had. Going forward I am only playing gamepass games and only buying digital games that I need to buy.

BTW, I own a Japanese series S, but all my games as well as account are American (its the way I get passed all the censorship here).

Anyways, great stuff. Too many games to play and not enough time.

I too recommend Firewatch to anyone who likes story-driven games, and if you haven't played What Remains of Edith Finch, please do - it's brilliant.

I will be trying out The Gunk and Lake - even though it may be a little too slow for me. Lodoss War isn't my cup of tea and must be one of the worst gaming titles ever, but looks like a very well executed Castlevania-like!

Oh and one more thing: Race for Ryan looks better than the new Hot Wheels game.

Glad to see Transformers: Battlegrounds on this list. Even when on sale was too expensive. Race With Ryan might good too.

Firewatch is a game I've wanted to play for ages. I'm surprised it's taken this long to make it's way to GP as it seems like a good fit.

last night i decided to stream to my tablet Firewatch and about 4 hours later i beat the game...highly recommended for those that want a story driven game that's fun and short.

@Blessed_Koz Nice! I prefer short games. I've got stuff to do rather than have to grind out killing Brown Rats to buff my "Brown rat killing" stat just so you feel like you're getting your money's worth.
