I never played all of them but from what i played i would say Assassin's Creed 2 is my favorite..
Liked the originals but didn't get much time on them, liked Unity and Origins, but loved Syndicate and Odyssey, with the latter just edging it.
Valhalla I bounced right off - way more live service crap than before, and I finally started to feel fatigued with Ubisoft open world games (but then played, loved and completed Immortals: Fenyx Rising?!) - and didn't really like the protagonist, story or playing the bad guys murdering my ancestors lol...
AC2 is still the best no question in my mind. Great story. Great characters. Great setting. Great mission design. And most of all not bloated like the newer ones are these days. Sure the controls are a bit old by today's standards but AC2 to this day is one of my favorite open world games.
Ah PushSquare did this one a while back as well, I hadn't played Valhalla yet then, I have now. And still Rogue rains supreme.
Odyssey just brings together the best of AC2 and AC4: a great story with lots of likeable characters and an open world with naval battles, which were so much fun in AC4. So that's my favourite AC game, I really enjoyed it a lot!
Black Flag is clearly my favorite but I also like Unity and Syndicate.
Unity was terrible at launch but it is a much better game now than it was then.
I've been a megafan since Altair's first outing, and have to say Unity is the "most Assassins Creedy" of the lot. It had issues on release, sure, but all these years later it's incredible on Series S/X with smooth 60fps performance and a fraction of the original issues.
I swear I’m the only person who hated Black Flag
Absolutely not Valhalla. It doesn’t even feel like an AC game. Haven’t finished it because I just can’t get into it. Most disappointing AC game to me.
Origins is my favorite because I love the setting but Odyssey is also great. AC2 as far as the “classic” format of the game.
I am going to be the odd one and say AC III was my favorite. I never was able to get into the AC series before 3, I think it was the settings but with 3 I had to play it. I will admit I loved the setting more then the other old school AC games. But it AC 3 has a soft spot in my heart as it was the first mature game that my son and I completed together as he was 12 at the time. So yeah that alone it makes it one of my top choices. The setting makes it my top choice.
I've got to go for the original, purely because it's the only one I've completed
My favourites would be Odyssey (loved Kassandra!) and Black flag. Full disclosure though...I played both on PS4.
AC2 and its add ons. I loved Ezio as a character and the way he developed across the games, Renaissance Italy was a fantastic setting. All around a superb game without too much busy work.
Rogue does it for me. I love the setting, it's so cold and empty but still has some of your more traditional AC locales as well. Great game no matter the platform
The Ezio trilogy is by far my most enjoyed as we were with him from birth to retirement, seeing the evolution of his story and the games was amazing.
AC3 had awesome dual wield melee, AC4 is a pirate/sailing game, not an AC game.
AC Unity is the best gameplay AC game for me. It has the best stealth toolkit of all the games and the parkour is absolutely sublime. Never been bettered on either count.
AC II
AC odessey
AC black flag
Very different games but love them for what they are, not necessairy because they are part of a series
I've played them all and would of said AC2 was my favourite until AC: Origins came out and rebooted the franchise. I loved the setting and the game-play and wanted to complete 'everything' on the Map - something I didn't do with AC2 and the 'feathers'. I even completed everything with the subsequent DLC's too.
I didn't like Odyssey as much. It was too much clutter and I lost interest despite the beautiful setting. I really enjoyed Valhalla too and completed both DLC's (like I did with Origins) but its not really an 'Assassin' Game. Its a bit like Black Flag which to me was a good Pirate game but poor Assassins Creed game and this is a decent 'Viking' game but not the best Assassins Creed game.
In the end I went for Origins as its the one that really brought me back to enjoying the Franchise and enjoyed my time in the game more than any other overall...
Origins isn’t just my favorite assassins creed game it’s my favorite game of the PS4/Xbox one generation. It along with breath of the wild and the outer worlds pulled me back into gaming after not playing through the entire ps3/360 cycle and most of the PS4/one cycle.
I played all of them literally so this is a hard one for me. I loved AC2, best as far as story goes but I never did 100% everything. While Origins and Odyssey I managed to 100% both. Both excellent games in my opinion, for what they are.
So I broken it down into 4 eras.
AC 1 to AC Revelations era. Best game AC 2
AC 3 to AC Rogue era. Best game AC 4 Black Flag
AC Unity to AC Chronicles era. Best game AC Syndicate
AC Origins to AC Valhalla era. AC Odyssey. (200+ hours and my most time I invested in any AC game I have played).
I voted for 2 since it's the only one I've beaten but I liked IV a lot and Origins is great from what I've played.
I’d have to say 2 is my favorite for sure. But I would say Origins would be a close second.
Loved playing as Evie in Syndicate (plus its Victorian London). I really like 3 & 4 as well.
@Odium I hated the story but loved the naval combat. Felt the characters were forgettable and the plot pretty basic. I remember watching the last cutscene where he sees all those he lost and I couldn't tell who half of them were.
The combat was good in spite of being an AC game. Being able to assassinate people on a ship that you've been attacking for the last 3 minutes is pretty ridiculous.
@RedShirtRod my biggest problem with it was that it was a good game, but a terrible AC game. I felt they decided that they had something good with the naval combat of the third game, so they had to make an entire game based around it. If it was a separate IP based on pirates I think I would have enjoyed it more, but the game felt like a Frankenstein’s Monster of
a game where none of its parts came together well enough for me.
Ac:u with fps boost is awesome. A traditional, oldschool ac.
I voted ACII, because it is the only one I have played. But it was a great game. Maybe sometime I try couple of the newer ones.
Between Odyssey, Unity and Black Flag for me. Unity is highly underrated and for me nails the classic formula with a beautiful massive city, good combat and the best parkour system in the series (and its not even close).
Still Assassin's Creed II, that was some game back in 2009. Great gameplay built off the solid foundation laid in AC 1, a great, new lead in Ezio (also still my favorite character in the entire series), strong overall narrative and an open world that was tons of fun to explore.
Also love Black Flag, Syndicate, Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla but if none of those excellent games could do it, I don't think II will ever be topped.
So I forgot to vote when I posted lol. Anyway, vote added for AC Unity.
@Agnostic So you voted for Far Cry 3 then, or 4
voted for brotherhood, but origins is a tight close second. I love them all though, it's my favorite IP of the HD era.
Black Flag was my favorite.
I’ve played all of them except Unity, Syndicate and Chronicles. My favourite is Valhalla, with Odyssey as a very close second.
Odyssey, then AC2
Tough choice. II, Black Flag and Origins all so different. Depends on which way the winds blowing. Went for Brotherhood just to avoid confusion
I am new to AC, and only played odyssey, which I got on sale earlier this year, so I do t know what a classic AC is like. I like odyssey a lot, though I am getting worn out from the fetch quests. The siege battle is fun. My precious pet sometimes runs off and takes people on singlehandedly and dies, so that is the most challenging part.
@Odium On forums many people suggest to start with IV. I disagree, the best place to start is 1 and I liked it a lot on Xbox One (via backwards compatibility).
Off-topic: I liked AC1 more than Breath of the Wild on Wii U (I played BotW and then AC1). This is for people who haven't played any AC game to not skip the first one and don't skip all until IV like some people suggest elsewhere!
@BlueOcean the first one is a better game than most people give it credit for. III started the decline, but Black Glag truly lost me.
