I’m still deciding on what to buy. I’m eyeing the Resident Evil 2+3 bundle, and now that Disco Elysium is finally on sale I may grab that as well. It wasn’t part of the sale, but I bought The Orange Box yesterday because I had a hankering to play Portal again and having the Half-Life games isn’t a bad bonus. Also, the Team Fortress 2 servers are still live which is crazy. I tried to find someone to play with but no luck.
Nothing, already bought something in November: Torchlight 2, Machinarium, A Plague Tale: Innocence...
I'm thinking about getting Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy but I'm a bit unsure.
@Alduin if it makes you feel better I hated dead island as well but really enjoyed dying light.
@Chaudy I would highly recommend it if you're interested in a good story, and not overly fussed about the gameplay (which is still good, but a bit straightforward). I went in with low expectations after playing Avengers and came out feeling like I'd played one of the best games this year. It's superb.
Batman by telltale. Im looking forward to shadow mode. That didn't exist when I played it on ps4
Because of my huge splurge in the digital Black Friday sale, I’ve been much more restrained in the Countdown sale.
So far I’ve bought Samurai Warriors 5, Dying Light and the Anniversary upgrade for Skyrim.
I very rarely purchase anything digital unless it’s an indie/old game or some kind of season pass that’s not available on disc.
With that in mind, I did pick up Assassin’s Creed: Origins thanks to the recent news that Ubisoft is cooking up a 60 fps patch. As well as Mad Max, a surprisingly good game I had never heard of before.
@Microbius @MegaWatts thanks both, I'm going to go ahead and get it
As a result of only returning to Xbox a month ago for the first time in about 5 years, im focusing on a lot of Gamepass stuff. So no purchases for me. I've lots of great games to tackle as it is
Nothing. I’ve bought enough this year!
Still have to purchase Raymond Legends.... thanks for the reminder!
I got myself every single Kingdom Hearts game other than 3 as it's on game pass! I've got covid, so isolation will help me get through all of them 😅
I've bought Resident Evil 3 Remake and Resident Evil 8 Village. Excellent games. :3
i would buy avowed if it existed.
No, but I should since I haven't bought any new games for my Series X. Normally, that would bug me, but I kinda don't care as much as I would have if I were younger. All of my older Xbox games are great on the console. Plus, I'm paying $60 for Starfield next year. It's one of the few games I intend to fork over full price to play at launch.
Haven't bought anything on Xbox in a while. Game Pass is more than enough.
Nier replicant
Honestly I haven't really bought anything during this sale, probably because I already bought most of the games I was interested in during the past few sales. At this point there is only a bunch of Xbox/One classics that they recently released that I would like to buy, but of course they haven't gone on sale yet. Gamepass really seems to cover my curiosity about different games, so when I buy a game these days it's something that I really want/like.
AC Odyssey Ultimate Edition. I gave up on this on PS4 Pro purely because of the glacial load times, it completely ruined the game for me.
Played about 6 hours of it today and it's an absolute joy to play on my new Series X, especially with that buttery 60fps and rapid load times. Loving it!
@Shigurui Yeah it's amazing how the super-fast loading of the Xbox Series X can turn some games that used to be really annoying to play last gen due to load time issues into a completely different experience. That and the enhanced framerate really changes the whole look and feel of a game. Now a days I find it hard to play games at 30fps after getting used to 60fps gaming.
I bought Sessions, R-Type 2 and Sine Mora Ex. Only thing really missing in Game Pass are Schmups. Sessions is hard to play because I've played so much Skater XL and Skate 1-3.
Playing Dragon Age Origins on gamepass and having a blast. Might end up skipping the sale
We Happy Few deluxe for the dlc. Just missed buying in the last sale by minutes.
Also Riders Republic which despite a few niggles I'm enjoying more than Forza Horizon 5. The variety of race events and equipment and the mass races are a blast!
Unsure. I got at least one xbox gift card and i'm thinking of putting it towards Elden Ring pre-order.
I’ve got 260k reward points I’m gonna break into and get the DOA and Max Payne games that were in the last round of back compat
Halo: The Master Chief Collection (eventhough I have some of the games from their launches on disc) and Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition. Now have all TR games, including the Lara Croft spinoffs, available on Xbox consoles.
Nothing. Already too I’ve to play on Game Pass and other services
Is NBA actually any good this time around?
I’ll be buying Control Ultimate Edition before the sale ends, despite already finishing the base game on Xbox One. I’ve not played the expansions yet and I really like the look of the next-gen upgrade on Series X with the ray tracing.
I have bought a few games that I wished were in the Countdown sale. Max Payne 1 & 2, Insurgency Sandstorm and I’ll buy Control UE in the next couple of days.
Nothing. Still playing Forza and Halo. Would pick up Diablo 2 for $9.99 but that game is still too expensive. Far Cry Primal for $5.99 would have convinced me too. Battlefield 2042 for $19.99 maybe. Oh well.
@Alduin Dying Light is a fantastic game. It was well worth the full price let alone free with points. It’s far better than Dead Island was, so I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you grab it.
I've searched the page and it seems that only I've got Blasphemous. Anybody got it before? I've beaten it and even though it is a solid metroidvania, Ori is much better (both of them). I also recommend Ender Lilies: another hardcore metroidvania - I completed it back in July on Ps4 (which I've sold to get my Series S).
I take my initial comment back, I bought Deus Ex: Mankind Divided in the recent sale, but it was a gift for a friend (I already own it). Pretty sure he's going to love it!
mgs V
looking forward to this!
All from the Windows Store on PC:
Quake II
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Big Buck Hunter Pro Adventure
Overcooked! 2
Yakuza Kiwami 2
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood
Wolfenstein: Youngblood
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Darksiders III
and Final Fantasy VII!
@Alduin nothing yet, but yeah propbaly gonna pick up that Dying Light Platinum , and then find some time to play it...
@Chaudy it’s not a bad game, story is pretty good and the visuals (particularly the environments) are some of the best this year. The combat and exploration are kind of bland though. I wouldn’t say this game is a must play personally but perhaps worth it if your really in the mood to play something and nothing else interests you.
@CrazyJF that’s quite the trio of games 👍
Redout dlc track packs, really enjoying the additional courses. I picked up Crash 4 also so looking forward to playing that.
Although not in the sale I'm really enjoying playing Timesplitter's 2 again via backwards compatibility. That along with some Quake and Forza Horizon 5 has me all set for a while Xbox wise.
@JayJ The 60fps bump definitely makes a game like Odyssey feel really good to play but with Watch Dogs Legion I'll happily play that at 30fps to keep ray tracing enabled.
It's the load times that matter most to me and they absolutely make AC Odyssey feel like a different game compared to the miserable times I had with it on PS4 Pro.
I'm tempted to get start wars squadron. That new game Chorvs looks like a better space shooter, but it's not on sale so I'll wait a while on that one.
The great FM7 delisting has me paranoid that other Game Pass 1st party games might someday disappear, so I bought Gears 5, Gears Tactics, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves, etc.
With all of my saved Rewards points I spent nothing. win/win
@Bobarino I liked Chorus much better than SW Squadron FWIW
Röki, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Resident Evil and Death's Door. Decent selection I reckon.
@Phantasystar77 It's fun, but I just skipped the mumbo jumbo religious lore. Besides that, it's a challenging game: so much so that after beating it, Ori was just a piece of cake!
Guardians of the Galaxy…Spyro Reignited…also Nickelodeon Racers 2…not sure if that’s the actual name, but it’s pretty trash as far as kart games go. Will probably save it and play it in short bites to earn the daily achievement Rewards points. 🤷♂️
Not in the sale: Disco Elysium, Chorus
@Phantasystar77 would love to know how you’re liking Grim Dawn. That’s my next wait-for-sale purchase I think.
@everynowandben that’s a better cyberpunk game than C2077, imho. Hope your friend loves it!!
@OldgamerDave I picked up Blasphemous but on Switch. Played for about a half hour to get a bit of a feel for it. Game controls great. I love the parry mechanic. It’ll be one I play all the way through for sure
Bought Halo MCC and AC: Valhalla. Figured I’d be playing these for quite a while and worth a purchase.
@Dusk_Actual Yup, parrying is the way to go with Blasphemous. It's super satisfying when you parry a boss; it's like every time you do that you mentally say "no, you won't, kid"! But depending on your skill level it may take you a few days - even on my vacation it took me several afternoons.
@OldgamerDave I may end up double dipping just for the hell of it.
I bought gta 4, watchdogs, far cry 6,
I did get Raymond Legends so that's all of my game purchases for 2021 in one go lol.
Control Ultitmate Edition, Dark Souls Remastered and Yakuza 0.
@Justifier all dope games, I bet you’re having a blast!
@Phantasystar77 if I’d have thought of Grim Dawn while I was in GameStop a couple days ago I’d have bought Xbox credit and taken the plunge…ended up buying the Forza 5 series X controller 😊
