@GuyinPA75 I miss my Windows phones every day so I'm completely with you there. And you're absolutely right, which makes the Xbox situation worse since that was the time they were ahead of the game and were the innovators. Sadly, we're where we are now
How ironic is it that the Xbox was created to stop Sony from getting a monopoly only for now Microsoft considering handing them that monopoly and consumers begging them to do it.
Consoles and games are gonna be extra expensive if that comes to pass.
@GuyinPA75 I think you're right about that. I remember when he took over and he was all about cloud everything. I'm sure that was a big reason it got approved but that was also at the time when everyone was launching their streaming services thinking it was the future of everything.
And we see it now they're all falling apart at the same time. Gamepass, Netflix, Disney+, Peacock, Max, etc, all struggling, all in debt.
Matt Booty is an idiot but i also feel like he's been thrown to the slaughter. Where's Phil Spencer? Where's Sarah Bond? Why is Matt Booty doing all of this while they maintain radio silence?
Subscription services are always guaranteed to stall and fail. You can only reach so many customers, you can only charge so much before people cancel. Microsoft went all in on a business model that was always going to collapse, and it's happening before our eyes.
It's only gonna get worse. They got way too big. I wouldn't be surprised to see Compulsion, InExile, DoubleFine, and a couple Activision studios close by the end of next year.
Nobody is worse at communication than Xbox. Phil Spencer can talk for an hour straight and still say nothing of substance. Maybe that's why Major Nelson left?
Even leading up to it Redfall never looked good and a lot of people knew it. Anytime someone tried to hype it up all they would say is "IT'S ARKANE!"
No talk about the gameplay, characters, enemies, world, nothing because there wasn't anything to get excited about, and that was proven when it actually came out.
Bethesda and Xbox studios struggle to put out high quality games when they take their time. I'm terrified of what a game of theirs would look like when they're rushing.
I haven't hated Gears 4 and 5 as much as others, but I'm kinda at the point where i want Gears 6 to come out just to get this trilogy over with so we can move on to a new and hopefully better story in future games.
@InterceptorAlpha @ShadowofTwilight pointing out minor differences is one thing, fixating on them is another. Two whole paragraphs for draw distance and shadow textures? Saying you "need a side by side comparison to see the difference" but then saying it's a "clear advantage".
I mean i get it, console war arguments drive engagement to their channels, but all this attention to such minor details when you could mention it and move on, feels like making mountains out of mole hills.
More games backwards compatible is the big one. Would also love to see attemps to bring back delisted games like Spec Ops, Enchanted Arms, etc. The biggest one though is some kind of guarantee that digital games will always be redownloadable and can't be taken away.
That last one would be tough to implement with 3rd party games but even that with just first party titles would be a good start.
This game seems like one that could easily make a comeback with a fresh start. For Microsoft why not fund it's return and bring it to Xbox? I'm sure it would do great on Gamepass.
This sounds more like they're making sure all current titles will be compatible with future hardware rather than making more games backwards compatible. Still good news either way.
If it's not coming for another few years then i have no doubt it's going to be open world and that would suck. Gears has gotten to the point where i hope for the best but expect the worst unfortunately.
I play a few rounds of firefight every now and again but that's about it. Never been big on pvp and with the way the campaign's story was I've never been too eager to go back to it
The appeal of indie games is creativity and price. That's why XBLA was so big on the 360, people could buy a couple 10-20 dollar indie games in between bigger releases.
But with gamepass, some people may give indies a try but most are just gonna say "why bother with that when i can play the triple A games on gamepass?" I love indie games but they do not grow gamepass and they're overshadowed by the bigger games.
If a studio like this can afford to port a (seemingly) sub par game like this to Xbox then all these other developers are full of ***** when they say they don't have the resources to do it.
I understand that most people are going digital but not making any kind of external disc drive available is simply anti consumer. Especially if they intend to stop producing the original Series X.
Phil Spencer has made Xbox weaker than it ever has been. I've been firmly on Xbox since the 360 and now i have no doubt ill pull the trigger and get a PS5 within the next 6 months. There's just no reason not to. The best looking exclusives coming are Hellblade and Avowed and even they just look ok. All the others look terrible. And if Hellblade and Avowed are good they'll probably go to PS5 anyway.
This is why "don't judge us by console sales, judge us by gamepass subscribers" kills the Xbox. It doesn't matter if you have 100 million gamepass subscribers, if console sales are low then there is little appeal to make games for the Xbox
My 2TB card is already almost full. My main annoyance is that Series X/S optimized games are mandatory. I would have been fine with games like Killer Instinct or RE2 and 3 staying with the Xbox One versions just to be able to play them off my external hard drive
I doubt Microsoft would consider it. Aside from Rare and DoubleFine when you look at the studios they've acquired it's clear they're mostly only interested in shooters and western rpgs. Hell they had Toys For Bob and then just let them go.

Re: Xbox Reportedly Considering Game Pass Price Hike To Accommodate Call Of Duty
When you run out of customers to sell to you have to get more money from your existing customers. Subscription services will always go down this path.

@Trmn8r Exactly like Netflix.
