Re: Don't Forget, It's Almost Time For Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered On Xbox

JayJ

Honestly I don't think these old Tomb Raider games have aged that well. Maybe if they completely redo the controls to make it control like a modern game it could be nice, but I always thought they suffered from that "early attempt at 3D gaming" feel that can plague a lot of games from the era. Most of their significance is simply on the character by now.

Re: Poll: How Are You Getting On With Far Cry 6 On Xbox Game Pass?

JayJ

I have had it installed on my PS5 for a long time now. I gave it a 6/10 because that's my honest opinion of it. It's not a bad game just a very average and mediocre feeling one. Everything about it just feels safe, generic, and formulaic. Pretty much the same way I have felt about every Far Cry game after FC3.

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Gaming Resolutions For 2024?

JayJ

Been saying "buy less game more." As the number of new games that look interesting to me seems to become a smaller number every year, I have been looking at my back catalog and thinking to myself I really need to just play more of that and stop concerning myself with the latest offerings. Gaming has really plateaued anyways.

Re: BG3 Dev Offers Workaround While Xbox Tries To Fix 'Unacceptable' Saving Issue

JayJ

@Sakai Yeah I think that's why I stopped caring about what the internet thinks about video games, it's become so polarizing depending upon what attracts the most fanboys on gaming sites. Stuff that's popular with them has all sorts of issues brushed off or ignored, games that they don't like for whatever reason get constantly nitpicked and criticized. I am tired of the mob mentality trying to rule over everything these days.

It's like I'm just going to go off what I see and think, couldn't care less anymore if anyone has a problem with that. I am tired of trying to get along with people who can't get along with others. Everyone has gotta be so cliquish and extreme these days.

Re: Metacritic Reveals The 10 Worst-Rated Video Games Of 2023

JayJ

@Jonnybekeww Yeah it's kind of a joke how that game is so hated on, I thought it was a lot of fun. Then again this is metacritic and it seems like hardly anyone uses it anymore, most user reviews are fanboy driven, and critics often jump on bandwagons themselves.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Update Includes New Xbox Fixes, But Deleted Saves Persist

JayJ

@somnambulance Yeah I agree with that as well. Mass social media is basically just a tool to manipulate the general public with, controlled by big corporations with big interests. Smaller forums and sites like this can be a good way to escape that IMO. Even then, some sites and forums can fall victim to toxic crowds, smaller group settings can have their issues. It can be hard to find good corners and spots on the internet where people are open to discussions, but when you find them it can be the best place to discuss interests. Big platforms are usually overwhelming to me, and I often seem to get lost in all the noise.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Update Includes New Xbox Fixes, But Deleted Saves Persist

JayJ

@somnambulance Yeah, I think you just have to find good corners to stick to these days. Like this is usually a rather friendly community, and if you look around you can usually find some people who are nice to talk to, but wow, some areas on the internet can be really toxic, especially the bigger ones. There is definitely a real "follow the leader" sort of situation, where people will simply gravitate towards whatever the popular consensus is wherever they are at. As I've gotten older I've lost interest in having anything to do with that, it's like I have really developed my own taste and understanding when it comes to video games, so I am likely to conflict with others who are all about whatever the most popular or safest thing to be saying could be. I honestly think a lot of people act that way simply because they're pressured to fit in anyways, while I just prefer being more authentic.

I feel the modern day social media atmosphere has really screwed things up in a sense, where there can be all this pressure to fit in with different popular crowds, cults, and cliques. I guess some people just really love having that sort of connection, but if I can't relate I usually find them off-putting/toxic to be around, as I have been around a lot of them that just treat people like garbage. There is definitely the situation where you can become the company you keep as well, if people behave poorly, it's probably not a good crowd to be hanging out with, and they will probably have a bad effect on you in the end.

So yeah, I just think the best thing to do is to be yourself, not being afraid to be outspoken, and sticking to people who can be friendly towards others with contrary taste and opinions.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Update Includes New Xbox Fixes, But Deleted Saves Persist

JayJ

@somnambulance Yup, I am very familiar with that sort of mentality coming from today's proud e-warriors as a fan of Starfield. It's like god forbid I might actually enjoy the game and find it appealing, because there's some bugs with it, meanwhile the darling of those people, BG3, has a game-ruining problem that deletes saves, and it's like how dare you even acknowledge that, the game must be praised.

Stuff like this has made me really lose interest in being a part of most online gaming communities these days. Everyone has become so toxic and fanboyish, it's just annoying, and it's made today's buzz/hype/feedback misleading to the point where it's become worthless.

Re: A Bunch Of Xbox Games Are Closing Their Servers In 2024

JayJ

@Commander91_YT If you have a game digitally it doesn't matter if they delist it, I have a bunch of delisted games installed on my old Xbox One X. The only thing that matters is them taking away the servers from a game that requires an internet connection, and in that situation it doesn't matter if you got the game physically or digitally, it will be unplayable no matter what.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Update Includes New Xbox Fixes, But Deleted Saves Persist

JayJ

@somnambulance Yeah I find it amazing how in an era when it seems like every big developer comes under fire for any issues their games might have, how a game like this can have it's issues, this serious, shoved under a rug so it can get praised and placed on a pedestal. Everyone has become so biased it's just ridiculous.

Re: Starfield Dev Calls Out 'Unreasonable' Criticism From Some People On Social Media

JayJ

Yeah I could never understand the obsession some people seem to have over hating this game. Personally I always loved it, it's theme, subject matter, world(s) and gameplay totally grabbed my interest like hardly any games do anymore. I guess some people just need to hate on it because it's a first party Xbox game, sad how they have nothing better to do.

Re: A Bunch Of Xbox Games Are Closing Their Servers In 2024

JayJ

That's a real bummer on the loss of The Crew, and I think this is a perfect example of why I hate the concept of live service games. It's online features feel completely unnecessary, I think I hardly interacted with anyone despite having beat the game put a ton of time into it. That probably hits me harder than most because I always loved that game, and I thought it was a lot better than it's sequel. There is really nothing else quite like it, and it will be a shame to lose that amazing map it had.

Re: Forza Motorsport Compared To Gran Turismo 7 In Huge Graphics Breakdown

JayJ

As a big racing game fan, I have always been disappointed in the new Forza Motorsport. I have come to like it more than I did when it launched, but it's still a game I have no real interest in owning (sticking to it as a Gamepass game) and I still think the graphics aren't as good as they were made out to be. GT7 just looks better and cleaner to me, with more attractive lighting and paint effects, everything just looks more real and accurate.

Heck I know this has been gone over before, but I think it's ridiculous how I can compare Forza 7 to the new Forza and say it looks better in some areas.
