Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is our most anticipated racing game of 2024 so far, and the team's latest trailer is only getting us more hyped for cruising around Hong Kong Island on Xbox next year! Feast your eyes on KT's 'The Racer' trailer up above - showing off a chunk of Test Drive's new game world and car upgrade systems.
This one is starting to look more and more polished each time we see it in action, and while it's not 100% there yet, it's looking like numerous delays are starting to pay off for Solar Crown. The world itself seems quite densely-packed, and hopefully Hong Kong Island can make a great driving playground for open world racing fans next year.
However, it's not just about cruising around here - Test Drive has plenty of high-stakes racing jammed in as well. Here's a fresh quote from the game's lead designer, Guillaume Guinet, on what to expect from competing in the world of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown:
"In Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, the experience is based on realistically depicting what it's like to drive the most prestigious cars on the planet. We also wanted to convey this in the racing experience by motivating players to push their vehicles to the limit.
We designed the competition so it would not only reflect the intensity of a closed-track race, but also in a city reproduced on a 1:1 scale. That carries certain limitations with it, which means you have to know the strengths and weaknesses of each of your cars, install the right parts and choose the right driving modes. The goal is to not only determine the best driver, but also to find out who knows and manages their garage the best."
At the time of writing we don't have a release date for TDU: Solar Crown, but you can expect it to cross the finish line sometime in 2024. Wishlists are now live on PlayStation in addition to Steam, so hopefully we're creeping ever close to this one actually coming out!

Video does look good but I’m going to wait this one out. It’s a bit early, but that will be one of my New Year’s resolutions, don’t buy games that are too expensive or released too early (no more Beta testing) 😀
@Pusher2021 That's fair - good way to do things! Hopefully we can bring you some impressions around launch and test how much of a 'beta' it is. Hoping the delays will help!
@Kezelpaso Will follow things up for sure since it is my favorite genre. Beta testing was an overall feeling not meant for this game alone. They delayed a lot of times so maybe this means they have another attitude towards releasing broken games. Fingers crossed!
It certainly looks promising but I'm with @Pusher2021 here; if there's one thing everybody should have taken away from gaming in the last few years, it's wait, wait, wait.
@Kezelpaso Pure Xbox finally catering to its Welsh readers, thank you 👍🤣
Kinda hyped for this one to be honest. I liked the new The Crew game more than I thought I would, and this looks like a better take on that concept.
I've been really looking forward to this one as I used to live in HK, so it'll be interesting to see the accuracy and also what's changed.
The TDU games have always been the better open world racers for me so I will be getting stuck into this one for sure!
