Hyperkin has been on a bit of a roll in recent years when it comes to Xbox nostalgia. It all started with the company making an officially licensed 'Duke' controller for Xbox One, before the team brought back '05 with a remake of the Xbox 360 controller earlier this year. Now, they're going back to the original Xbox lineup once again.
Named the 'DuchesS', Hyperkin's new take on the original Xbox 'S Controller' has been unveiled today. Pricing and launch date plans are to be announced, but the team has provided some details on the new gamepad.
First off, it'll be available in black and white variants - both of which looks absolutely gorgeous. There's also some nice features packed in here, including 'hall effect' sticks, an Xbox Series X|S share button, a detachable connection cable and more.

As usual, this third-party pad is wired only, which is unfortunate for those of us who struggle to move away from wireless controllers these days. Still, it is officially licensed by Xbox - and the widely used USB-C connection cable is a nice touch.
We put Hyperkin's 360 pad through its paces a few months ago and came away thoroughly impressed with the team's effort. These throwback accessories really do feel like modern versions of the real thing, and it's nice to see the DuchesS complete the Xbox lineup. That white variant is lovely - we'll take one of those!
Are you interested in the Hyperkin DuchesS? Tell us which variant you'd pick down below.

Wow! Was wondering if they’d do this! I love the s controller definitely one of my favourites. Hopefully get a cortana edition.
I hope it has bumpers. I assume it does considering they put them on their Duke.
thank you hyperkin!! i love the older controllers they’re more durable and have a “video gamey” look to them . i still need to get the duke too , but i currently have two hyperkin 360 controllers & love em both . i never have to worry about stick drift again.
man i loved playing halo with this memoryyyyyyyyss
Best controller of it’s generation IMO
Nice bit of nostalgia. Love to see it.
At the same time i'm generally of the view that controllers have only gotten better with time. I'd take an Xbox Series Pad over this anyday.
Pretty much the original Xbox controller that laid out their design going forward.
So happy they're using full colored ABXY buttons!
Loved this controller back in the day. Will buy one for sure.
Looks good. I missed the white/black buttons I don't know why. The feel/aspects seem close enough, the Duke with the animation was cool, the 360 one is close enough.
Hyperkin has done a fair job I'd say. I don't own any but I think their cool for what they have tried to make possible to replicate them.
@SuntannedDuck2 If you ever play the original Xbox classics on a modern Xbox it's really nice to have the black and white buttons, one of the reasons why I love using my Hyperkin Duke to play those games (well that and for the authentic retro feel).
I missed the big Duke Hyperkin they did, which is a shame as I wanted it for some nostalgia fueled runs on Halo CE on MCC! I'm less interested in the S, but I do think it was a big step in controller design that helped to create the standard that is used today! With Hall Effect sticks this should be a nice, robust controller.
These look cool. I guess I'll see the price, but really when I've got two controllers already I'm not really interested in buying more.
@JayJ I do play OG Xbox games (mostly Star Wars games as they are on the list, any others I've seen I can't as they don't support the Xbox One/Series back compat list) on my Xbox One X yes or my 360 (PGR 1 & 2 did in 2020, first experience with the games) with it's separate list of games supported.
But PGR and Star Wars are all I have so far. Mechwarrior/COD2 I've seen copies of, even Legend of Spyro New Beginning but have nothing to play them on yet.
I am used to the L & R and the triggers to get used to the differences of 360-Series controllers but yeah White/Black buttons do help for the authentic experience i bet (or whenever I get an OG Xbox again as building up my OG Xbox library from scratch.
I'll seek out copies of Forza Motorsport 1, Blinx 1, Scaler got on PS2, 2 copies but used to own on OG Xbox, XD, I'll get to others eventually those researched of the OG Xbox library exclusives and just third party copies I see).
