@Xbox360Gamer ah cheers. So it probably makes a small difference. I would have liked the video to mention it , even if it made no difference, but they didnāt. They just drilled home how unexpected it was that it performs better on Series X, which I found a little bizarre tbh.
I went with the X version, happy days! Not sure what difference to performance mesh shaders actually make, I wish DF would have at least given some indication, but they canāt dump on their golden goose console.
Either way it just goes to show, optimise properly for the Series X and there should be an advantage going forward, especially as games get graphically more demanding like Wake 2.
Iām glad this turned out well. I played the original on the 360 so will be buying this for the Series X. Remedy are magic, no one else makes games like they do.
@FraserG im like you. Not into D&D or previous BG games but Iāve been enjoying BG3, it stands on its own.
@Fiendish-Beaver Iām still on act 1. 35 hours in. I like the game overall but for me it has a few issues. Iāve been playing through as an utter ***** and to me some content seems unfinished or not very well executed if you make certain choices, I canāt really go into it without spoilers so I wonāt here. I will say playing as a bad person it feels like the game massively punishes you for your choices š party members have already left or Iāve killed them. Iāve had a few annoying bugs too. Itās not held my attention like I thought it would, but Iād still like to see it win GOTY.
1 and 2 are classics, I adore those games. 3 was good too and I enjoyed 4.
5 was just okay, I thought the open world stuff hurt it more than added to it, they jumped on the unoriginal open world bandwagon like everyone else. Apart from Fenix junior, who at least has kind of an interesting arc, the cast is forgettable and I donāt care about them. Thatās a massive failure, the originals were character driven, Marcus, Dom, Baird, Cole are all iconic characters but I fear those days are in the past, we aināt allowed strong bro characters in games kicking the sh*t out of things for the most part now. I donāt hold much hope for the future of the franchise tbh.
So not only would I like to see it return to its horror roots, Iād like to play as great characters again that I can care about.
Sonys COD exclusivity deal comes to an end next year. Interesting times ahead. I doubt weāll see much of an impact to be honest. I canāt see huge amounts of gamers dropping COD on PlayStation or huge numbers swapping to Xbox if COD gets dropped on Gamepass day one. One things for sure Microsoft are going to be swimming in even more money.
Great game glad to see its success. Iāve been chipping away at it and am currently at the end of chapter 6. It runs at a flawless 60fps and looks great, I thought it may have gotten lost in the shuffle but itās not the case. Great stuff.
When is UE5 going to come good? It was hailed as the next best thing and so far all itās given us are sub 1080p games with garbage performance. I think Halos engine was actually good and was the least of 343ās problems. UE5 isnāt going to save the series direction or writing.
@InterceptorAlpha like Remedy have said, the GPU on the Series S is a big issue. Its woeful. First party Xbox games are going to be held back by that machine, Iāve said it since day 1 and will stick to my prediction.
I tried it on Gamepass, love turn based games, but this is rough. I had no crashes but performance from the off was rough, pop in everywhere and stuttering. The animations are terrible and combat doesnāt feel fluid at all to me. I was really disappointed.
@Moonglow I was talking about Square struggling and maybe realising Sonys money isnāt the best option for them anymore financially.
PlayStations business model is a whole different discussion but I think theyāre learning the hard way that top end multimillion $ games isnāt sustainable in the long term.
Sonys money not cutting it anymore? SE are not in a great position, theyāre struggling. Maybe theyāve realised cutting themselves off from other markets and taking money isnāt the most profitable anymore. I think theyāre kind of being forced to open up due to their poor performance.
@Dan1283 I havenāt had it crash but man performance is atrocious š tried the game on performance mode and itās bad, pop in everywhere and terrible frame rate. It shouldnāt be like that itās not pushing any boundaries with its graphics. There was a patch a couple of days ago so I donāt know what thatās done but I donāt even know if I wanna give this game another shot, what I did play was disappointing.
@Fiendish-Beaver a common thing reading the reviews is that itās āa great release to build onā. Thatās something I donāt really like seeing in a review. How can the reviewer possibly see the future? What if they release a patch like Diablo 4ās and ruin the game (lol)?
While itās true the game probably is a great place to build on, people are dropping their money on the game now.
@MasterPlayerOne true it was built with 30fps in mind theyāve stated that. Maybe the cutbacks they had to make to get the game running on Series S allowed them to realise they can run the game at 60 with similar settings on stronger hardware. We shall see.
Lamplighters league and Darktide Iāll try if I get time. Jusant looks interesting but I donāt like Dontnod as their games usually push some sort of āmessageā. If it turns out decent I may try it.
Iāll play this itās my type of game but it sounds like it needs patching asap. Iām happy to wait and see if issues get fixed, plenty of other stuff to play for now.
I really like this game. About 6 hours in and I think itās great. The graphics are fantastic, enemies are interesting and fun to fight and itās tough. I like the world itās set in and itās pretty linear which I think works in its favour.
Iād score it a 9 at the moment I like it that much.
@Pimpernel I dropped GOW:Ragnarok when BG3 came out, that game is both good and dull. It reminds me of Gears 5 in that it just has open world areas for the sake of it and the game as a whole feels less focused and suffers because of it.
@Pimpernel I would absolutely not copy what Sony do. 3rd person open world or story driven games and little else in terms of variation. Their formula has become so stale to me personally, Ubisoft like almost. Xbox pump out a greater variety of genres from their studios they just need to be better in general.
Microsoft donāt need to buy more, they should invest in the studios they have and improve them.
@OldGamer999 yep theyāre the ones. I was listening to their special podcast today about it too. I will not be interested in a console that uses the cloud, I donāt like it now and I doubt itāll be any better in 5 years time.
@OldGamer999 if I really had to pick one I think Xbox would just nudge it right now. Iām playing more indies and double A games than ever and Gamepass is great for those titles. The leaked documents make me worry about Xboxās vision for the future however.
@OldGamer999 choosing one of the 3 is tough. I can easily say at this point in time I can do without Nintendo, Iāve hardly picked the Switch up over the last 2 years.
Between the other 2 itās tough but I feel for the most part both have been disappointing. Iām bored of PS current exclusives and Xbox have continued to struggle to get incredible first party titles out. Very hard to choose between the 2.
@Spider-Kev so you think they should be the only console maker and therefore console gamers would only have one market place to buy their games? That wouldnāt end well.
Iām not sure what care to their fanbase Nintendo show? Theyāre pretty close to an ABK or Sony with their pricing now and seem to have jumped on the remaster bandwagon charging top $ for them.
@Spider-Kev we need the big 3 for competition are you mad? I dread to think of a world with one unrivalled console company, it would be awful. All 3 companies need do better, Nintendo aināt perfect either.
Thatās crazy. I would have thought a split of around 60/40 in favour of S but 75/25 is significant. I still donāt like the approach Xbox took having 2 separate systems and still think weāll see the X suffer for it going forward but as a business decision it has been a success, thereās clearly a market for it.
@InfamousOrange BG3 has mass appeal. CRPGās in general you could argue donāt but BG3 has had massive success. It could be the genres defining moment that brings more players into it going forward.
Iām playing through when I can and while I think BG3 is a very good game Iām not sure Iād consider it as my personal GOTY, but I can understand why many would. Did MS misjudge the popularity of the game? Absolutely and theyāve lost sales from their decisions no doubt.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner whatās not fun to you is to others. If itās too hard, donāt play it, the developers chose to take that risk, itās their choice and like I said I see no issue with it.
There are so many games out there, one not catering to you or me doesnāt matter, play a game you enjoy (like Starfield you mentioned) while others play some games you canāt. Like I said not every game has to be for everyone. Thatās okay.
@NeutronBomb why? Itās a developers choice to decide the difficulty of their game. If theyāre willing to not cater to a portion of gamers then I donāt see a problem with itās their choice.
@Kaloudz Those policeman grunts are no joke š¤£
@BAMozzy āIn some ways itās teaching people an important life lessonā
I think thereās real value in this, if you fail, do better next time, donāt give up. Thatās what make these games so rewarding and itās also a good attitude to have outside of gaming too.
@Kaloudz it gets harder š¤£ I beat the demo and the last boss on it, yeahā¦. š
Iām a fan of the game though but itās tough. The parrying is extremely tight and unforgiving. Not every game has to be for everybody and thatās okay.
Why do these games have the cringiest, unlikable characters introducing you to the game and giving you stuff to do? Horizon is the same, I donāt want to interact with these people.
This is a pure Forza Horizon rip off and the review makes it sound like a pretty good one but Iām not interested.
