Good news if you're an Alan Wake fan and you're planning to play the sequel on Xbox Series X! Remedy has announced today that it has "somehow" managed to incorporate a Performance Mode for Alan Wake 2 on Series X and PS5.
The full details on this have yet to be revealed, but Remedy's Thomas Puha says that it's a "solid" new way to play the game. That said, he's advised that Alan Wake 2 was always built to be a 30FPS experience on consoles:
"I’m glad to say that Alan Wake 2 will have a Performance mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X. The game has been built from the beginning as a 30fps experience focusing on visuals and ambiance, but somehow we have managed to include a solid Performance mode. We’ll talk details later."
In a follow-up question, Puha was asked whether the Performance Mode will be "unlocked with a 60FPS target or a true 60FPS lock [for the] majority of the time", to which he answered that the team is "still tweaking that".
Hopefully we'll find out a lot more information in the near future, as Alan Wake 2 only has exactly a month to go until release! The game arrives for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on Friday, October 27th.
