Re: Xbox Veteran Suggests Recent Decisions 'Probably Aren't Being Made By Phil Spencer'

Fenbops

The author can 100% believe what he wants, Xbox is where it is because of uncle phil. It would be unfair to put the blame on him completely as MS is a mega corporation with no shortage of talking heads, but uncle Phil has had a huge part to play in this.

As someone already pointed out, he became the head of Microsoft gaming a couple of years ago and was happy to take the title. He must have known then plans to move away from the Xbox brand.

Re: Random: Phil Spencer Is Getting Trolled In Fallout 76 Following Xbox Controversy

Fenbops

@Fiendish-Beaver I don’t buy any of that. Xbox is where it is now because of uncle Phil. I’m sure he’s not agreed with every decision but he’s had a huge part to play in Xbox being where it is now. He said years ago exclusives are against what gaming is and look where we are. Xbox studios have become a laughing stock with no direction or firm management, that’s also on him. I’m sure there’s other things. I don’t feel sorry for him and the millions of $’s he’s made over a decade.

Uncle Phil’s biggest accomplishment is convincing some gamers he was one of them, he’s always been a corporate stooge. Like I said in another thread, unless he resigns and speaks out, I’ll hold that opinion of him.

Re: Report Claims Xbox Is Planning More Cuts Following Studio Closures

Fenbops

AA and Indies are where it’s at at the moment. Honestly they can close as many big studios as they want for all I care because all they do is pump out dogshit. From the ruins of big devs you get smaller studios opening who’ll work on interesting, fun games, away from the constraints of big corp. There is a positive to all this somewhere.

Re: Latest Rumours Suggest Perfect Dark Reboot Isn't Going Smoothly At Xbox

Fenbops

Who really wanted this game anyway? When they first revealed the game and the supposed superstar dev team behind it I thought why? Why make another Perfect Dark instead of something new and original, especially with the talent. Since then it’s become a laughing stock as usual with devs leaving and no sign of a game. This could be their next Redfall.

Re: Reaction: Xbox's Push Towards 'Microsoft Gaming' Looks More Drastic Than We First Thought

Fenbops

I’m fed up with both companies and the ‘triple A’ gaming industry as a whole. It’s absolute garbage. One things for sure I ain’t on board with what Microsoft are doing and see zero point of buying an Xbox when all games will be multiplatform under a ‘Microsoft gaming’ banner. Confidence in Xbox releasing anything of worth is very low for me personally anyway, between their poor releases since the Xbox one and them being completely onboard with consulting agencies, I expect nothing of value to come out of any of their studios.

I predict they’ll carry on making record profits with their huge amount of studios and big popular franchises, but the Xbox brand will diminish and their hardware will continue to slump.

Re: Xbox Reportedly Testing The Waters With Sea Of Thieves PS5 Release

Fenbops

I very rarely play any game on release now, so if the majority of Xbox games come over to PlayStation in the future, it’ll be easy for me to just wait and play them there and not bother buying another Xbox . Halo and Gears have been diminished so much over the years I’m barely even interested in them, wouldn’t buy a console even if they keep them exclusive.

Re: Hellblade 2 Sounds Like A True Next-Gen Showcase In First Xbox Previews

Fenbops

I thought the first game was an annoying mess. Good to look at but just not fun. Average combat, dull puzzles and the voices in her head annoyed me more than anything. Thankfully it was only short so I got though it.

I’m only interested in the sequel because it looks graphically phenomenal and the combat does look improved. I’ll give it a chance at some point but I’m not expecting anything special.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Prefer Shorter Or Longer Games In General?

Fenbops

@NEStalgia how much is Helblade 2 it’s not the full 70 right?

I get your argument that people want value for money and with higher priced games people want more content, but I would also argue that for the most part that demand is just leading to bloated, overlong and ultimately boring experiences. I would actually argue that in that regard, consumers are coming away worse. I don’t think any game should be 70, but I also think less can be more, a tight, interesting 20 hour game you never get bored playing to me is better value than a 80 hour one doing repetitive tasks. Regardless of price.

Re: Phil Spencer Celebrates 10 Years As Head Of Xbox This Weekend

Fenbops

The Xbox brand is currently a joke. It’s not all uncle Phil’s fault and I’m sure there are other actors pulling his strings. He’s just another corporate mouthpiece at the end of the day, one who comes across as being a gamer because he’s always saying how great exclusives are… on other systems. He’s done some great things for the brand in his time but I’m not going to lie I feel like the brand is not in a good place right now. Just my opinion.

Re: Major Game Maker Reportedly Questioning Xbox Support Amidst 'Falling Sales'

Fenbops

I dropped Gamepass a month or 2 back as I just don’t have the time to play so many games and since that I’ve hardly used my Xbox.

I do wonder what impact Gamepass has had on sales in the Xbox ecosystem, are people waiting now to see if a game they want hits Gamepass? What % of Xbox users have Gamepass?

Couple that with consistently underwhelming exclusives like Starfield (cringefest) and Forza, their games going to PC day 1 and I can see why Xbox consoles are staying on the shelves. I predict stories like this will become more common going forward and if Xbox keep releasing their exclusives on PlayStation I still predict the ecosystem becoming irrelevant no matter what hardware they bring out.

Re: Dragon's Dogma 2's Microtransactions Are Causing Controversy At Launch

Fenbops

What makes this game different to the thousands out there that already have micro’s? We as gamers have let this happen, because the vast majority buy into this stuff and have done for years. I bet most leaving negative reviews have been a part of the problem. It seems a weird place to finally make a point about it again.

I don’t like it, but to single out DD2 seems strange.
