It's time for another weekend! Xbox is stacked with things to do over the next couple of days, including some new Game Pass releases, multiple Free Play Days titles and a special free Assassin's Creed weekend from Ubisoft!
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
I don't even know where to start this weekend! I guess I'll kick things off with Assassin's Creed - of the five games that are free to try on Xbox right now, I've only played a couple. Valhalla seems the obvious choice, but I might actually check out Assassin's Creed 2 to see what all the fuss was about... I've always been interested in the Ezio Collection!
Another game I might dip into is the new release of Legend Bowl from Super Pixel Games. If you like (American) football games, it's definitely worth a look-- the gameplay is fun (albeit difficult!) and it seems pretty in-depth so far.
And of course, I'll be playing plenty of Quake 2 on Xbox (and PC) Game Pass!
Have a good weekend, folks.

When Stray launched as a PS5 exclusive last year, I, like many others, was absolutely smitten with the idea of a furry four-legged romp through a neon dystopia. I wanted to play immediately, forever, now… but a part of me always thought, “What if Stray launched on Xbox?”, so I held off.
It was a long and scary year not knowing if I’d ever knock a can of paint off a roof and down into the streets, or paw at a paper bag until it somehow ended up on my head and I could no longer see... scary times indeed. So, of course the launch of Stray on Xbox this week has pretty much firmed up my weekend plans.
Outside of the walled city, I’ll be continuing with Baldur’s Gate 3 because, well, It’s freaking brilliant! And, If I’ve still somehow got an hour or two to spare, I’ll continue with the pixelated flappy flaps of A Short Hike - what a charmer it is.
Happy gaming!

Playing Gravel bought it complete for 2,99 euros in the digital store. Thanks for the tip. Love it.
Bus Simulator 21 Next stop which is really relaxing and back into world war Z with the new horde XL map
This weekend I plan to finally finish up Trails to Azure so unless something unexpected happens IRL, that's what my primary focus will be on.
Otherwise, I guess I'll play Quake II and maybe something else on the side.
Anyone else still waiting for their Xbox dashboard update? Still not had mine.
Anyway, mainly jumping between Remnant 2 and Pikmin 4. Still on the fence on buying Atlas Fallen 🤔
I’m also trying to finish the campaign in Diablo 4, so I can start the season mode. NGL, it’s starting to drag now with battles becoming something of a chore where I just feel like I’m going through the motions.
Playing Deus Ex Mankind Divided on Series X - but not too much as I don’t want it to end.
Dipping into Quake II at 120fps, Forza Horizon 4 and a little bit of Halo Wars just for good measure.
Happy Days!
Beat Catherine Full Body and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening on the Switch the past week.
I’m currently playing DC SuperHero Girls: Teen Power and I’m meaning to play Ghost Trick next.
I’m also finally back from vacation to France so I’m planning on playing Herc’s adventure on Ps5 and A Short Hike on Xbox Series X
Also will finish up Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 before the next season in 2 weeks.
I’d like to finish Venba. I started it on Monday and just… haven’t played anything since then. Outside that, I dunno. I’d like to play something, but I’m in this weird lull right now where I’m not actually playing anything in specific and sort of feel like I’m just waiting for Starfield right now or Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5.
@FraserG I agree with @Kaloudz about Valhalla. Stick to it. It’s not the best game in the world, but it may be the best modern AC game (we shall see about Mirage though). The map is so huge and there’s frankly too much to do, but you can pick and choose a bit. Like doing the looting thing? There’s plenty of that you can do. Like fighting powerful enemies? You can choose to do that too, but you don’t have to. Just want to enjoy the story? Well, you can skip all the side stuff and dive into a 30-35-ish hour campaign then… even though you’ll probably wander around a little bit more than that. It has its flaws, but it’s such a fun game that it’s easy to forgive them and remember the positive things that the game does. It’s frankly the epitome of what I’d call a really solid 8/10 game. I honestly enjoyed my time with it more than a fair number of games I’d objectively call better games.
Bro force forever and quake 2 remaster for me that remaster for quake 2 is amazing theres a lesson rockstar for you
Yoshi (3DS) - Been hankering to replay this for awhile.
Forza Street (Android) - Can't seem to get the offline workaround running for this.
Imperia Online (Windows Phone) - At the final mission now.
Really interested in what someone with no nostalgia thinks about AC II.
I've got all the Achievements in Hogwarts so now is WWE 2K23 and Yakuza 5 for me.
Diablo 4 and Remnant 2
Some Paw Patrol with my daughter
This weekend I’m keeping my gaming pretty light due to work obligations. That said - I’m working my way through Uncharted: Golden Abyss for the first time on the PlayStation Vita. I have the Platinum trophies for Uncharted 1-4, but never got the chance to play this game.
I have to say - I find this game quite remarkable. For starters, the pacing is top notch. Secondly, I’m surprised by how well the controls are, and how the touchscreen isn’t mandatory for the basics - jumping, shooting, and so forth.
Overall, it’s nice to jump back into this universe, particularly when Nolan North is at the helm. Nathan Drake is such a great character. And most importantly, it still feels like an Uncharted game, with its quirky dialog and humor, despite being developed by another studio (Bend).
I’m hoping this game, along with multiple play throughs to get the platinum trophy, will hold me over until Sea of Stars comes out in a couple of weeks.
I finally finished DOOM Eternal and now I'm in the "don't know what to play" state, any recommendation?
Also played two missions of broforce, ridiculous, but fun
Quake II, ori 2, and Oracle of Seasons
After around 30 hours I wrapped up the story part of Exoprimal. The story actually wasn't half bad. It may have been silly and half baked but Capcom did put effort and time into that story. And it was original - past the whole "damsel in distress save the world with a hidden power' trope. I'll probably keep playing it for some time. I bought the battle pass even to support 'em.
Finished Serious Sam yesterday too - wondering if I want to build up a few more cheeves or not. Fun game.
I'll probably get deeper into Xenoblade 1. I've been playing Minecraft Dungeons with the fam. Street Fighter - learning Lily.
cheers all.
Quake 2 and a few games from the backlog. Might finally get around to finishing off dying light 1, I am right at the end of the main story with one dlc to go. Also have another run-through of assassins creed 2 going so I might work on that. Then there is always retro, I have a spyro 1 game going and gta vice city as well.
Not starting anything major until starfield, just plugging away at some loose ends I have going.
I'm currently on holiday, but when I'm back- The Last of Us Part 1 and Baldur's Gate 3 on PC. Waiting for Starfield to hit PC Game Pass.
I'm trying to get through the backlog of tv shows and films right now so only doing handheld gaming while the TV is on.
Super Mario Advance 4 Super Mario Bros 3 and Warioware Twisted on GBA.
Crash Bandicoot Trilogy on Switch.
Just back from holiday and want to have a go on BG3 (poss via GeForce Now because I have a Mac and XSX), but not sure I'll have the patience needed to invest in it. Looks amazing and I can see why it'll be up there for GOTY, but I need to hold off until I can justify the £50 RRP.
Well I missed last weeks entry of this due to being on vacation but man what a vacation it was. Absolutely excellent and in terms of games I basically played almost all of Ghost Trick and played all of Shredders Revenge. Gotta admit Kate is right Ghost Trick is really good. And EVO last weekend? Just reminds me why I love fighting games so much. Excellent announcements and matches all around man. As for this weekend tho. Well starting with Friday I saw the new TMNT movie and played some Splatoon 3 for the new Splatfest. Team Money baby. Got a couple hours into that which is really all I ever wanna do for Splatfests. I imagine if Splatoon was the only game I owned I would play more but when I got other single player things I wanna do it just kinda slips away ya know? But my vacation wraps up Monday as in going back to work Tuesday and for once I have a genuine game plan like a football coach hahaha. For Saturday we got some Pikmin 4 and Final Fantasy XVI. Sunday is Tears of the Kingdom and Tower of Fantasy. And Monday to finish off the most excellent of vacations will be Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed and King Of Fighters XV to test out the new character NAJD. And probably some time next week I’ll finish up ghost trick as I think I’m pretty close to the end of it. As for the anime this weekend also pretty simple. My Tiny Senpai, Atelier Ryza, Zom 100, Liar Liar, Ayaka, Tenpuru, Yohane The Parhelion and Bungo Stray Dogs. That last one especially is just one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen I’m absolutely in love with it. And finally as for podcasts I think I’ll chill with some absolutely stellar Into The Aether and check out this new podcast everyone’s recommending Remap Radio. Have a excellent weekend and Happy Gaming to all.
Downloaded Medieval Dynasty on Game Pass and what a fun game. Think Skyrim meets Stardew Valley. Also, just the most pretty and chill environment to be inside of for a while. Feels good to also slowly build something and watch it come to fruition. It's a game with a bit of grind but the kind that makes you smile and feel good.
@Nightcrawler71 Mine still hasn't updated. I've gone into the settings to see if there's an update that hasn't auto-installed but nope, just seemingly not available to me on my Series X yet.
@LaurenceJ1987 Same. Series X, old dashboard still 🙄
Just finished Rise Of The Tomb Raider, I think i'm gonna start up Limbo next..
I stopped with midnight suns after 80hs, loved the game at first but now it's just repetitive and story is quite bad. I might finish it one day but i had enough of it for now.
I decided to restart Yakuza like a dragon one more time, I forgot how good this game was.
As I, typing I'm downloading baldur's gate 3, not sure my computer will be able to run it but we'll see.
Peggle power wash simulator and gems of war maybe more
Yesterday I knocked out another chapter of Bayonetta 3 and also played through RE4 Separate Ways for the first time. Today I just played a bunch of Atomic Heart and have honestly been enjoying it more than I had previously. It helps that I have a lot of upgrades at this point, but unfortunately overall it just doesn't reach the heights it seems to have been aiming for.
@Wiiiiiiii Not sure if you've played it already or if you're into immersive sims, but I would highly recommend Dishonored. Whenever I'm in a "don't know what to play next" funk, a good immsim always pulls me out of it.
@everynowandben
I've decided to start Bioshock Remastered, but thanks!
Dishonored seems like an awesome game but I'm actually a little scared to play it 'cause I heard it's very hard and I haven't played many stealth games
By the way, I doubt if you haven't played Bioshock already but I highly recommend it, it's a great immersive sim
having fun playing BROFORCE
The main focus this weekend has been Jedi Survivor on PS5. But in between sessions of that I’m working my way through Hive Busters in Gears 5. And on Switch I started the FFVII Crisis Core Remake. It’s been a fun weekend off games! Have a great week!
