I've always been a multi-console gamer, but it's this gen where I play all my multiplatform games on Xbox. Meaning the gaming library for my Xbox is growing much much larger than my PS and Nintendo ones. The ease of backwards compatibility, the quick resume feature, the smart delivery. It's just such a good functional console.
I'll still wait until storage hits the £50-£70 mark. As much as I'd like more space, I can't justify spending even £150 when I can just delete/manage my storage more effectively at the moment. (It also helps having Flight Simulator on the cloud and not installed on the console 🤣)
I hope she (or at least the other people on the writing team) is British/British Knowledgeable. The Fable series is so intertwined with Britishness it's the one thing I fear will be missing in the new iteration. Everyone from John Cleese to Stephen Fry were in those games and it all felt so perfectly British.
Edit " I really don't want to come across as some patriotic nutjob. Just as a Brit, the little writing touches were very noticeable and appreciated in the old games"
Wrapping up the final markers on Assassin's Creed Origins here, alongside starting a new game of Assassin's Creed 2 as well (definitely my favourite in the series. I can't play an AC game without just wanting to go back to Ezio in 2)
@Floki I'm not the biggest fan of Naughty Dog 😂 but I get your point. I also wonder how Xbox One would turn out if they hadn't forced Kinect so heavily at launch, and again allowed Rare to make a decent game again... So many what ifs.
Happy for Bungie though! And seems their games will come to PS and Xbox moving forwards too so it's win-win for the gaming community with them as well.
Sony spent their money wisely with the Bungie acquisition. Whilst Destiny isn't my cup of tea, there's no denying how big and successful it is, and the experience that they can bring to their other studios.
That and they still deliver some of the best FPS shooting mechanics out there. MS should have tried harder to keep ahold of them, but wish Sony all the best with this quality team!
And Favourite Bungie Game... Oni (or maybe if I'm being more serious Halo 3)
It's obvious to everyone that Sony have very aggressively pushed the £70 price point along with charging £10 for upgrade paths too. Yes, EA and 2K do it, but guess what, Sony does it too! And more aggressively! I mean, Sony are charging £70 for Last of Us 1 remake! A game which (albeit looks very nice) is literally the same gameplay wise as the original. No wonder other companies are following suite when they see what blind fans are willing to pay.
@Kezelpaso Every new release of theirs just gets better. The difference from one WRC to the next is so tangible when playing as it's clear the developers are actively improving their systems. With Codemasters having the WRC licence from next year onwards, it's great that KT Racing have another franchise to get stuck into instead.
Whilst I'm not the biggest fan of this developer, huge respect for the way they consistently release their titles to a high standard on a regular punctual basis.
Wow that is big! I'm curious as to how this will turn out, like many here I'm not sold at all on the art style, but more than happy to give the game a go and see if it clicks whilst playing. 51GB though!
Big acquisitions have to be checked by all countries relevant authorities. It's less of a "competition check" and more just regulatory procedure. If Disney can buy 20th Century Fox globally without issue, then this deal is just a drop in the ocean compared to that.
A very underrated game. Also worth pointing out this game had involvement from James Gunn who is of course a LOT more well known now than when he worked on this. A little on the short side but one of my most fondly remembered PS3 games back in the day. Very very funny as well.
@Would_you_kindly they originally said they were focusing on network co-op before split screen co-op. That said, I don't have any faith in the technical ability of the dev so wouldn't be surprised if the split screen co-op is silently cancelled. Despite MS making it very clear after Halo 5 that the next Halo game WOULD have split screen co-op...
I'll be downloading this later. The base game was absolutely fantastic. A perfect combination of artstyle and creativity combined with fun "just one more try" gameplay.
Gave Last Stop a go last year, I enjoyed the London setting which felt very familiar to me, but the story just took far too long for me to hook into. That and one of the characters you play as is repulsive.
A game that I'm glad I played through Game Pass and didn't spend money on
Hopefully after all this time it will be a decent game. The ship sailing in the Assassin Creed games has been a highlight of the series as a whole for me. So I'm cautiously optimistic about this game.
The Switch has been a very well supported console for Indies for a long time. And it stands to reason the development team didn't want to make 4 versions at once. I'm thankful it's coming to console at all at launch. It'll be on Xbox 6-12 months after launch anyway. Either way it's going to be a must play. "I am rubber, you are glue"
I had the pleasure of meeting Nolan North at a London Comic Con. When asked what game he's worked out that he's the most proud of, he answered "Spec Ops" It really is a must play game. One that stays with you well beyond the end credits.
Worth pointing out that for us Brits its still only available for pre-order and it's available here for a couple of weeks I think. I loved the first one immensely, a great story and the time puzzle mechanic was a lot lot less frustrating than I thought it would be. Quality series by a quality writing team.
Whether or not his claims are true, to publicly call out the company that contracted you this work is a surefire way to ensure they won't be contracting you again. Surely there was a better way to make their grievances known before going public. I'd literally never heard of this company until now, and I don't associate them with the work on Sonic Origins but with playing the blame game first chance possible.
Got it as part of the premium add on bundles already, so will have access to this and the 2nd expansion once they come out. Looking forward to it. Hopefully it'll be a smoother launch as well compared to the slightly rough start the base game had.
It's around that time where all the Loot Shooter Destiny clones that have been in development for the last 4-5ish years are being announced to little or zero fanfare. Feel sorry for the devs, never fun announcing a game to get poor feedback immediately. That said, game companies shouldn't always try to imitate the next fast buck. Thankfully the PC Total War side of Creative Assembly means the company isn't at risk if this flops. I just wish the team could have been cooking something a little more original than just "another looter shooter" these past few years. Shame.
Superb review. This has gone from a "maybe I'll check it out" to a "installing now" scenario. On a side note, anyone else can't help but reminisce about the old X360 online shooter Shadowrun as well?
There's a small slither of hope in me that once MS own Activision they can undo all the ludicrous nonsense and harm to good gaming that has been done...
What I like about the response isn't that it's "job done" yet, but acknowledging that inclusion and openness is a journey still being undertaken. Nice one. Really hoping they can help fix some of the toxicity at Activision Blizzard once they have control. Devs like Double Fine show you can be totally open and inclusive with it having "zero" impact on your end product.
I got £8 the other week from them. I was at first confused as when I went to buy a game on the storefront, it said I had £8 in credit to use. Initially baffled I saw the message from Xbox and couldn't believe my luck. Very decent of MS.
Fallout 3 as it was my first Fallout Game. New Vegas is a close second but the bugs I encountered when playing were too numerous to be ignored. Fallout 4 was ok... But 3 is my number 1.
Next year does look to be a super year for sure! And if the delays to games like Redfall and Starfield makes them better games then it would have been totally worth waiting for too. Also, for this year, Pentiment has "stealth" game of the year written all over it.
A double dose of Game Pass with TMNT:Shredders Revenge (which so far is easily the best brawler since SoR4) and Assassin's Creed Origins which is also turning out to be a very fun game.
I remember playing this on PC when I was a kid. Unlike the LucasArts adventure games at the time I remember you could actually "fail" in this one so I wasn't as keen. Maybe coming back decades later may make a difference.
To go from hover mode to glide mode you need to press a button in the cockpit in the cockpit cam. It's great fun to fly but I spent my first 10mins with the Pelican flying nowhere but skyward with no clue how to turn 😂
Obsidian is fast becoming the jewel in Xbox's crown akin to Insomniac with PlayStation. A good consistent run of high quality releases, interesting games with different gameplay approaches and of course that far off dream of New Vegas 2. Pentiment alone has me hyped for November, that game couldn't be more my cup of tea.
The problem isn't the game itself but people's wildly different expectations as to what the game should be. From a Flight Simulator in space, to expecting FPS iD style action people are wanting all sorts of things. It's a Bethesda Game Studios game, it's going to have the same game structure as Fallout and Elder Scrolls but only with a space ship, interplanetary vibe and additional gameplay to suit that. I'm happy with that!
@BartoxTharglod I'd even extend the point with Mass Effect, that no matter how excellent the voice acting is, I'm always playing "my version" of Commander Shepherd as opposed to "my own character" with other Bethesda RPG's. The voice acting also definitely helps with Mass Effect's cinematic vibe too, but I feel Fallout 3 and Skyrim are much more open world freeform games compared to Mass Effect.
Fine with me to have my character not speak dialogue. Bethesda games for me are RPG games where I get really, really engrossed and immersed into my character. Having a lack of voiced dialogue really helps with that. Also, what's up with people not enjoying reading lately?!
The only disappointment was that this expansion didn't release yesterday 😂 This looks solid and fun. I'm looking forward to getting stuck into this expansion soon
I'm in two minds on this. It sounds like it could be really interesting to play, and the team are clearly very very passionate about this one... That said, the visual style just isn't "clicking" with me on this. Sadly, it comes across as the poor comic book approach of the early 00's where actual artwork was replaced with this weird photoshopped modelling... Hopefully the writing will make up for the art style (or maybe it works when it's actually played)
