Update [Tue 12th Jul, 2022 07:00 BST]: 343 community director Brian Jarrard has chimed in on social media to clarify 343 Industries is targeting "the week of July 11" as the start date for the campaign network co-op preview. At this stage, the team is "still hoping" to launch the flight this week, but it won't be on July 11th. Here's the message in full:
PSA: The team is still working on our upcoming #HaloInfinite network co-op Insider flight build. While we always said our "target was the week of July 11", many sites reported it simply as "starting July 11." Still hoping for this week, but it will not start today.
Flighting is fluid as the process entails discovering issues in initial rings and resolving them before expanding to a larger audience. A few issues were discovered in our current flight ring and the team is working to address.
Apologies to folks who expected the flight today - we're eager to get this into your hands but we also want to ensure it's a positive and worthwhile flight experience. Still targeting this week but it's day by day as work continues. Ty for your patience and understanding.
Original article [Fri 1st Jul, 2022 04:30 BST]: 343 has just released an update on the Halo Infinite Campaign Co-op preview - revealing a targeted run date from the week of July 11th.
In a lengthy blog over on Halo Waypoint, the development team mentioned how co-op cross-play would be "fully supported" between Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC, including Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Additionally, the game will support up to four players (each player will take control of Master Chief), and all games are hosted on dedicated servers. To jump into a game, you'll need to form a Fireteam - then from there you select co-op from the main menu.
In this mode, "everyone's progress counts" - meaning players pick which save slot they want their Co-Op progress to count towards. 343's "No Spartan Left Behind" will also play a part:
"When players join the Fireteam and choose their save slots to play on, the game aggregates the states of all missions across those saves and sets up a world state in which any missions completed by all Fireteam members are marked as complete while any missions not completed by all are marked as incomplete."
When out in the field, there's an Area-of-Operation to keep players within the distance of each other. This is the maximum distance (800 feet warning radius, 1000 feet kill radius) players can stray from one another as they explore Zeta Halo.
Along with the Co-Op mode, there'll also be a "Mission Replay" mode rolled out and some new Co-Op and Mission Replay achievements. You can read more about this in our other story:
To participate in the upcoming Co-Op flight, make sure you're signed up to the Halo Insider program and have opted into the Network Co-Op flight program when it goes live. Progress from this flight will not carry over to the full release.
The full version of Halo Infinite's Network Co-Op is currently scheduled to be released by "late August", according to the Season 2, 2022 roadmap.

Mission replays, thank you.
I missed some collectibles and didn’t want to replay the whole game right away to pick them up. So I’ve been checking periodically to see if mission select has been added, but tbh now that it’s soon arriving I’m probably ready to just do my Legendary play through now anyway 🤦♂️
Has local co op been silently cancelled ?
@Would_you_kindly they originally said they were focusing on network co-op before split screen co-op.
That said, I don't have any faith in the technical ability of the dev so wouldn't be surprised if the split screen co-op is silently cancelled. Despite MS making it very clear after Halo 5 that the next Halo game WOULD have split screen co-op...
Once this feature is out (and a big discount), I'll finally jump in to the game.
Infinite co-op is going to be crazy. I really didn't use the marines too much cuz they couldn't travel with a grapple hook and just got stuck, died or brought down an army on me lol. But with other players this is going to be great fun.
@frabbit - ditto to that, looking forward to replaying some of those missions without the need for a restart
@Richnj I read failure instead of feature. Kinda made sense too. You haven't bought into gamepass?
@Cherip-the-Ripper Nah not yet. The way I game, like playing just one game for a full month until completion, or coming back to a game years after it launch or I started playing, doesn't really fit well with subscription models.
I've tried all three, and I just spend far too much time playing content not on the services to feel worth it.
@Richnj totally makes sense mate, hope Infinite proves to be worth your while!
Only, what, 7 months late?
Pretty much every reason the game sucked for me at launch. I don't know if I care enough to play it anymore though.
