Welcome to the weekend! It's time to calm down after the Xbox Showcase madness this past week, but we've still got plenty of great stuff to check out on Xbox this weekend including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge on Xbox Game Pass, more Free Play Days titles, and the massive ongoing Deals Unlocked Sale!
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, News Editor
To the surprise of no one, I'm definitely going to be checking out Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge on Xbox Game Pass this weekend, but I've also got plenty of other games I'd like to spend some time with, such as Sniper Elite 5 which I'm really enjoying (particularly in co-op) at the moment.
Road 96 is another game I've just started playing on my Xbox Series X, and I'm really into it so far! Need to spend some more time with it, but I can already start to see why we gave it an "Excellent" 9/10 score here at Pure Xbox.
Have a good weekend everyone! I need a rest after this long E3 period...
What Xbox games are you playing this weekend? Let us know down in the comments below.

TMNT off course, but I'm also in a Street Fighter vibe, since the announcement of VI, so I bought SFIV : Arcade (in sale for a few bucks, right now) and its extension ULTRA for a few more pennys.
That game is still awesome.
Oh, and I'm still on my run of playing all of the Lego Star Wars games, with the Obi-Wan Tv show airing. Currently at Lego Star Wars III - Clone Wars and it's very different from the Complete Saga.
On the switch I will continue with xenoblade chronicles 2 currently exploring the leftherian archipelago, its quite overwhelming how big these maps are in this game plus the amount of side quests and requirements for the side quests.
I will also give Mario Strikers another try, so far in not really enjoying it, it's just too hectic and I've lost 9/10 games online and even when doing 2v2 I've lost all but one.
On PS5 I will continue with Trails of cold steel 1 and Scarlet Nexus
A double dose of Game Pass with TMNT:Shredders Revenge (which so far is easily the best brawler since SoR4) and Assassin's Creed Origins which is also turning out to be a very fun game.
Elden Ring on PS5 and I’ve been trying Omori which was released on Gamepass this week. It’s….. different. I’ve seen people saying it’s a masterpiece but it hasn’t quite grabbed me yet, will give it more time.
TMNT "Shredder's Revenge" and Forza Horizon 5
I picked up Mad Max this week in the sale - only £2.99! I had it on PS4 but now I can take advantage of the 60fps boost. Looking forward to diving back in.
Update…Wow, for a game 7 years old this still holds up well, and the 60fps boost means it plays better than ever. I forgot how much fun the vehicle combat is! I can see myself losing many hours to this over the summer! Really hope Avalanche studios do a sequel one day.
By the way, am I the only one to constantly feel that I don't have enought time to play ? XD With gamepass and all of the sales going on, how can a man follow ?
Getting some game time this weekend with the kids so I've started TMNT last night and then played FH5 and Halo Infinite last night with my buddy that just got a series S. Will likely play some Mario Party or Kart at some point, maybe more TMNT, likely more Halo and Forza with buddies again. Was hoping for some time to try Elden Ring but hasn't happened yet lol
TMNT Shredder's Revenge with the guys. Having a blast of a nostalgia trip with this!
Also Turbo Golf Racing with the guys. I am terrible at it but it's still really fun.
Little Hope. This game is laughably bad, but I'm still enjoying playing through it.
I might drop Foreclosed, actually. The style is there, the gameplay is not.
Also finishing off the Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes Demo.
@Bobobiwan absolutely not my friend. Id say i have like 5-10% of the gaming time required to actually try and play half of what gamepass has. I blame the multiplayer aspects of games cuz they fun and you don't move on vs the one n done story stuff. I try and force myself to focus on the campaign games here n there. I honestly think i need to make a chart and plan what I'm playing and when when. It's just too much.
I am ten years too late, but with the announcement of Diablo IV and how stunning it looks, I decided to buy Diablo 3 Eternal Collection (my first entry in the series) and it is phenomenal. I’m not that far in the game; I just discovered what the “Fallen Star” was and defeated The Skeleton King.
I love the loot system and the randomly generated maps and quests that pop up. I find them intriguing and also haunting. For example, I was exploring and found a rundown shack. I got swarmed by monsters after killing them a farmer storms out and says his wife has been wanting them gone for days. He led me inside, and down in the basement was his deceased wife sitting in a rocking chair. Her head fell off and rolled onto the ground. Turns out, the husband was in denial that she had passed away. It was a rather sad story.
Another thing I love is how it’s not overwhelming in its systems and mechanics. It’s easy to grasp, and yet it can be as deep as you want it to be. The customization in skills is really fantastic, and that’s not to mention the different classes and abilities for each one.
Overall, I’m incredibly satisfied with the game. My excitement level for Diablo IV is quite high now.
Other than that, I’ll of course be playing TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge. I played yesterday morning with my 6-year-old daughter and we made it to level six before I had to go to work. It’s so good! And, embarrassingly, she’s much better at it than I am.
Gonna be working on trying the challenges in TMNT while also playing the pleasant surprise that is Omori, both as a game so far and that it also shadow dropped on gamepass.
TMNT with my daughter, also started the last stop since it will leave game pass soon and maybe some chorus ,a very fine space shooter.
Cris Tales this week.
Love the old school turn based combat and the whole art direction is a bit crazy but it's a fun game
Finished TMNT. Decent game (7/10) not playing anything else this weekend.
Currently playing Guardians Of The Galaxy..
@Bobobiwan
Super Street Fighter 4 / Ultra is the best fighting game ever made imo. Everything about it is just amazing, the pace, the precision of the moves, the range of characters and stages, the depth of the gameplay. I can understand the difficulty being offputting to fighting game newbs, but for long time fans the game is basically fighting game perfection.
I could never get into SF5, SSF4 just seemed better in every way.
Hopefully SF6 is good
Everybody is raging about TMNT, but for Father's Day my wife bought Tiny Tina's Wonderlands for me. Probably play some co-op with her or my son.
Same thing last weekend p5 dancing on my Vita. It needed love and I need happy hints before diving into the new Ai Somnium Files.
Finished Shredders Revenge yesterday. Good times, but I doubt I’ll replay it much more than the level I played as Casey Jones. Other than that, probably just some Far Cry 6 while I wait for Shadowrun Returns to drop next week
@Auglicious that’s the game I REALLY wanted for Dads day gift, but 57 for the X/S version is too rich for my blood….hoping it’s down to like 20 by fall
7 Days To Die and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge.
I was near the end of Sniper Elite 5 but Im away at the moment so Switch it is. Traingle Strategy and Celeste. I did play the first 3 levels of TMNT before I left. Its radically awesome!
@Raffles I already had it on PS4, but I could not resist the sale, just for being able to play it on Xbox.
And I don't know why, but I'm fairly optimistic about 6 and its way to teach newbies all of these mechanics shenanigans.
I think it will be the perfect entry for new gamers. After all, it's the return of the franchise for a lot of people.
I never touched 5, for exemple. And I don't really know why, cause I do have a PS4. But it was not the same, to know the game was exclusive to one platform only.
But, man, for 6 ? Crossplay and all ? Oh, it's gonna be good !
Weird west. Its a great rpg. Also a bit of battlefield V and some 2042 before it dies. Gotta get my 50 quids worth outta it.
Vikings: wolves of midgard.
Resident 2 remake (rt = as low as 27fs series x. Ew no, shuf it off!)
Super castlevania iv (via anniversary collection)
Sniper elite 5 ( how massive have the levels become this time? They're taking me hours.)
@UltimateOtaku91 you haven’t finished scarlet Nexus? Or replay?
@Dusk_Actual If I were buying it myself, I'd say the same thing! I think my wife found it for $47 at Best Buy.
@mousieone when it first released I did yuito's campaign then moved on, but now I'm playing kasane's campaign and got the dlc this time as well
@UltimateOtaku91 yeah You kind of have to play both routes for the full story at least til phase 9. I need to do all the DLC stuff but so little time lol which phase are you on?
@mousieone I'm currently on phase 6, just in the facility that looks like a museum
Interesting little game called Industria - great art direction so intrigued what their next game will be.
@MarkD01 that one’s on my wish list. The screens and no small amount of comparisons to Half Life 2 have me intrigued
Xbox Series X: TMNT: Shredders Revenge. Finally going to check this one out this weekend. I heard alot of good things about this game.
WWE 2K22 Got a GM mode going against my son. Just had a PPV and he's beating me fan wise for now so I need to rethink my strategy.
Tabletop: Dungeons and Dragons: Going to be continuing my campaign this weekend. Right now my players are getting ready to explore some ruins.
Finished the story of TMNT Shredder's Revenge (XSS) it was everything I wanted it to be so I've gone back to Yakuza Kiwami (PS4) into chapter 7.
@MarkD01 any good? It looks interesting.
@Fenbops A fairly quick completion but love the art direction. Fairly standard shooter otherwise. Their next game definitely will be one to watch.
@NeutronBomb
Vikings: wolves of Midgard was a hidden gem. I hope you enjoy it.
I just started the halo:infinite campaign this week and am absolutely loving it. One of my favorite games in a long time.
TMNT and Monster Hunter. I gotta finish prepping for Sunbreak.
@Dydreamr I am. Very much. Already looking for another diablo-like for after. Though I might give the Torchlight games a crack.
@MarkD01 I’ll keep an eye on it for a sale 👍🏻
Diablo Immortal, TMNT & AC Origins.
Playing tmnt (of course) and river city girls since I just bought a couple of 2D games for my series x (river city girls, shantae 7 sirens, and bloodstained).
Played Shredder’s Revenge a great deal and also the Naraka: Bladepoint beta.
@NeutronBomb cool. I’m glad your liking it. I Can recommend grim dawn if you haven’t played that yet.
@Dydreamr I'll give it a look thanks. 👍
