Re: Hellblade 2 Apparently Failed To Crack Top 100 Game Sales In Europe Last Month

1) physical provides marketing lack of that= lack of marking
2) lack of matketing = lack of marketing

Almost like MS forgot how to market things because they are so big. Social media doesn’t make up for marketing it just doesn’t. It’s a trillion dollar company that doesn’t like to spend money. Then can’t figure out why they can’t make money.

Re: Capcom's Old Game Engine Seemingly To Blame For Certain Releases Skipping Xbox

@lokozar the issue comes from a change I think on MS side that broken the MT Frameworks ability to code for that platform as a new game. Existing games could be updated because the devs do have the know how. I didn’t link that video either but XboxEra Jesse said between 2020 and 2022 whatever it is is it happened when MS made the change from the old XDK to the GDK for even XB1 games.

Games that started development before this change would have been fine but games started after would need the new upgraded GDK instead of XDK.

And something between these two kits it’s what broke it.

@ValentineMeikin First off if you look at the games that skip Xbox none of them have PS5 native versions. None.

Second Capcom isn’t claiming anything. Jawmincher isn’t not Capcom. And Windows Centeal doesn’t claim their sources are Capcom either.

Third all of those games are old minus MHS 2 not sure of the list just hasn’t been updated with the collections because their ports or what. But technically the Switch/PS4 version of MHS 1 just released like this month and they don’t list it as a separate game because it’s a port.

Forth If you look at the Re Engine games none of them have skipped Xbox https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/RE_Engine

Finally pretty sure 2022 is when MS officially said they aren’t making XB1s anymore but Sony hadn’t yet
https://www.theverge.com/2022/1/13/22881211/microsoft-discontinues-xbox-one-consoles-2020

They’d actually stopped production sooner just no one mentioned it until then.

@ValentineMeikin the Ace Attornery games have moved over as have games like Ghost Trick. It’s kind of hard for me to consider this a Capcom issue when clearly they are in process of moving everything over. I just think these skip games were in development for a while. Not recent. And monetary wise didn’t make sense to update the engine.

@JoakimZ why would they do that though? I’ve only seen them step in for games like Palworld that have huge player bases.

Re: Capcom's Old Game Engine Seemingly To Blame For Certain Releases Skipping Xbox

@InterceptorAlpha pretty much this. Not to mention the older titles would have been in development for quite some time before release. At least as far back as 2022. To fair the support probably stopped before then that’s just when the last MT Framework game launched.

Also want to point out MT Framework doesn’t support PS5 so those games only have PS4 versions.

Re: Helldivers 2 & Ori Bosses Share Their Thoughts On Xbox's Studio Closures

@theduckofdeath I don’t think they gave them a chance to do that though. Judging from the tweets and how things seems to go down this was a massive surprise to everyone. In fact it looked like they were working on a Switch port.

I’m not suggesting they take the IPs because that studio worth is the talent not the IPs. None of Tangos IPs are huge sellers on their own. They also pretty recently were allow that studio to hire.

No I think this was a snap decision.

Re: Major Game Maker Reportedly Questioning Xbox Support Amidst 'Falling Sales'

mousieone

@Fiendish-Beaver sure but I’m not sure those games are going over. I’m not sure of anything right now but the truth is neither is he. He is of course just guessing.

While things are dicey for Xbox right now. Judging everything by one podcast? Eh. I’m not happy with the direction but that’s pretty far fetched.

And the context is that podcast has always be less than positive towards Xbox.

Re: Major Game Maker Reportedly Questioning Xbox Support Amidst 'Falling Sales'

@Fiendish-Beaver the thing is the games didn’t blow up the charts. Well one did and is. These were test games. I truly do believe more games are going to PS5; I just don’t think it’s every game.

As I thought Seas of Thieves is the one doing the heavy lifting. Which tells me they will most likely be looking to move more of their GAAS style games over.

Dring also mentioned in the same podcast MS is less focused on GP which no they aren’t. They are doubling down on that. They just aren’t adding ad much third party content to the service. Looks to me liked they’d rather use their own first party content now for the service.

Again I do think more games are going but I’d exercise caution at taking everything he said as gospel.

Also while Xbox slipped considerably in EU it was actually the console that slipped the least in Feb in the US.

Re: Ori Dev Criticises 'Senseless Arguments' Between Xbox & PlayStation Fans

mousieone

@GeeEssEff they didn’t just help fund it. They own it. What’s being missed here is the cut of the games sales per platform. Moon gets nothing from people playing on GP, but again that’s the studios choice for basically selling the IP.

If I hade to guess I bet the Steam cut is the most money for them even from the Nintendo version. But that’s a huge guess with no facts.
