What a win this is! Back in June, the Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection was revealed to be coming to pretty much everything except Xbox, and then last week the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 suffered the same fate.
There's been talk over the past few months that Capcom's MT Framework engine has caused issues with bringing these games to Xbox, and it was suggested that Microsoft was working in the background to try and help out. Well, that's proved to be true - it's been confirmed today that both titles will now arrive on Xbox in 2025.
When they do make their debuts on Xbox next year, the Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection will include the likes of X-Men Vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes, while the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 will feature highlights such as the two Power Stone games and Street Fighter Alpha 3 UPPER.
Obviously the downside is that everyone else is getting the Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection this month whereas we have to wait until 2025 on Xbox, but let's focus on the positives - at least we're getting these now!

Never been so happy to be wrong. Will eat crow daily until they release. Made my day!!
¡Grande Capcom! So many good moments thanks to these guys.
Great news! Glad they were able to work together on this. I'm particularly excited for Capcom Fighting Collection 2!
Street Fighter Alpha 3 UPPER.
I was expecting that to say Street Fighter Alpha 3 SUPER, saw it had two p's and so read it as Street Fighter Alpha 3 SUPPER and wondered what the hell that game even is. I'm tired.
@BHPM Power Stone!!!!
By then, I would expect that these 2 game collections will arrive on Gamepass on their release.
Although a great outcome I would imagine that by the time it comes out on Xbox anyone wanting this would have purchased elsewhere.
Now just need to bring Snk x Capcom too
Don't get me wrong, YAY and I'll certainly pick one up on Xbox...
But this is Capcom. They'll point to these 2 games not selling as well on Xbox (despite arriving much later) as to why X game doesn't come to Xbox down the line.
Judging from the games website, it looks to be a digital only release much like the Switch version in the EU
@martynstuff I wish Xbox was getting physical, but digi better than nothing 🤙
Thank goodness. Now get rid of that ridiculous Xbox Series Version of all new games demand and maybe we can get the FF Pixel Remasters.
While I'm genuinely stoked we're actually getting these now, seriously what sort of work do they need to do that it's going to take until next year for them to release? Surely that's going to kill the majority of sales potential, and then capcom might use the lack of sales to justify not porting other titles in a vicious cycle!
So happy to hear this. I still have my doubts it was a "technical issue" that needed fixing.. but regardless, I'm ecstatic that Xbox listened and pulled whatever string it was that needed pulling
Fair play, MS needed this after so many of these stories have started coming out. Hopefully they can start to get their house in order with regards to helping other games get on the platform
Seems it WAS THE MT FRAMEWORK issue.
That's great news, really.
I can wait, that's not a problem.
Can definitely wait for this I do have both PS5 and Series X but my investments in games as always been Xbox 😊
Hey, that’s good news. Better late than never.
POWER STONE POWER STONE POWER STONE!!
Best news so far this week!!
These games will be instabuys.
This is good news, however what of the unreleased Mega Man Battle Network collections? Will this finally follow, or was that not made on MT Framework?
Again, this is really good news, but if Capcom is just going to let prior collections never be released on Xbox even after this, that's not too reassuring.
Great news! I love Capcom which is a very great developer/studio. I own most of their games, so I am gonna support them on these classics
To those always saying it's all because games don't sell on Xbox, I'm very happy to see that Microsoft care about those technical issues and we (genuine) players can get those games on Xbox.
Will release...on Xbox One.... glad we are getting the support we deserve for the Series generation of consoles. I get they're not very demanding but c'mon give us the new XSX boxes at least for the physical version.
@PapaGlitch this is a start. However I can’t say the same for Black Myth Wukong and Enotria. They’re complaining of Xbox not communicating with them hence the releases are indefinitely delayed. But this Capcom thing is a start at least.
And also they may be the ones holding up the FNAF Into the Pit console release as well.
@Kilamanjaro MT Framework isn’t supported on XSX and PS5. So they can’t make a native version of those. Hence it would be backwards compatible.
@Elbow that and Great Ace Attorney were also made on MT Framework. I suspect they haven’t come because of sales of previous games on Xbox.
And before you point out Apollo Justice and Investigations collections, I would have to believe that Xbox may have paid Capcom to release those games on Xbox.
Really good outcome, no matter if having to wait is a side effect. At least it's coming, even if it's digital only too.
@FraserG Too bad you didn't find some green (Marvel) hero greeting Ryu artwork. 😁
W00t! Canceling my PS4 copy right now!
@anoyonmus I actually wasn't aware Great Ace Attorney wasn't on Xbox, so I would also add that to my list of games I hope now come over if Microsoft footed the bill for them to fix up the compatibility issues with Xbox.
Did they move their ports/collections to a new engine recently-- like is everything just on their RE engine now? If so, maybe that's why the newer ones are still releasing, though I'm just randomly guessing.
@anoyonmus I see that the reason it isn't releasing on XSX or PS5, possibly, is not because MT Framework is not supported by XSX or PS5... but that they don't need to release a native version.
The PS5 and XSX were made as backwards compatibility boxes, the Series consoles even more so since the operating system that runs both the One and Series is identical across all systems, they just changed the drive and graphics card.
@Elbow Great Ace Attorney uses MT Framework while Apollo Justice and Investigations use the RE Engine I believe.
@anoyonmus Ahh, combined with the sales, that helps explain it. Thank you. I do still hope the games that never saw an Xbox port see one perhaps next year, shadow drop them with the other incoming Capcom ports.
@anoyonmus I think Apollo is actually unity. I don’t know about investigations; I can check.
We'll know if it was actually an issue with the MT Framework if past and future games using it end up getting Xbox ports. Even if this is another case of Microsoft throwing money at the issue, at least they're collections for good games.
@mousieone Apollo is RE engine.
Idk about Investigations tho
It's important to remember online play has no cross platform support, so you'll only be facing users on that console's online ecosystem. Xbox will have only a tiny pool of players compared to the other three.
A huge win for sure! I’ll be sure to pick up both of these collections when they release 🙂
I hope this means we’ll also get the Mega Man Battle Network Collection. I have all the other Mega Man collections on Xbox, so it would be lovely to be able to finally complete my collection of collections.
@Azathoth that’s fine for me as I don’t play online. I just want to play these games with a comfortable controller.
