Re: Xbox's Sea Of Thieves Becomes 'Best-Selling' Pre-Order On PlayStation 5

Sakai

@jFug I mean technically all 3 party terms are made up, but nobody thinks games like Ronin, Stellar Blade, Detroit or Heavy Rain are first party, because they were not developed by a first party, that much is obvious.

Just like nobody thinks Ori or STALKER 2 is a first party title, because it was developed by a 3rd party.

They are exclusives (or they were at one point) but that does not make them first party games.

Re: Xbox's Sea Of Thieves Becomes 'Best-Selling' Pre-Order On PlayStation 5

Sakai

@jFug

Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, and Concord are all 1st party, AAA games coming this year to PS5.

All of those games are Sony-published which equals 1st party.

First party refers to developers that are owned by the company responsible for the console.

Rise of Ronin and Stellar Blade are not first party games, they are second party games. Second Party refers to individual companies taking exclusive contracts from platform holders

I am really looking forward to Ronin for what its worth and Team Ninja are arguably my favourite developer

@Sol4ris I could have guessed who the main commenters on this article would be before I even opened it. PureXbox is the home of concern trolling. The Alien guy is always here like clockwork, along with several others (we used to have the train guy, the shadow guy, the snakev5 guy and several others that are still here religiously)

It is exhausting to read as a multiplatform gamer who enjoys all the consoles and is one of the reasons why I have decided to use PureXbox less and less

Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 Launches With Uncapped 30FPS Performance On Xbox

Sakai

I prefer 60, but 30 is OK if it's consistent and properly frame paced. Consistency is king.

This no man's land framerate is horrible to play and look at and I will not reward the devs or publishers for making such a poor decision.

If people stopped buying games that release in a mess, maybe we could finally get games that release when they are ready from a content and technical perspective.

I loved the original Dragons Dogma and the Dark Arisen dlc, but until this is fixed, I will be voting with my wallet.

Hopefully Rise of the Ronin is better as I am really looking forward to that game later this month and will play that instead

Re: Roundup: Dragon's Dogma 2 Impresses In Final Previews Ahead Of Xbox Launch

Sakai

The uncapped framerate averaging 31fps is a deal breaker for me, and I own a VRR TV. That sort of no man's land framerate is awful to play and looks horrific

Consistency is king and they need to offer a properly frame paced 30fps cap or I won't bother wasting my time on such a technical mess and I loved the original and the Dark Arisen dlc.

I am not rewarding them for their incompetence and would prefer to send the dev and publisher a clear message that this kind of framerate is unacceptable.

Re: PlayStation Follows Xbox In Announcing Significant Layoffs For 2024

Sakai

I hope the folks at London Studio, Firesprite, Insomniac, Naughty Dog and Guerilla (and anyone else effected that we do not know about) land on their feet quickly in this difficult time.

But it was expected after their last financial results, sadly the writing was on the wall.

Best of luck to everyone effected and thank you for the gaming memories.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 24-25)

Sakai

On Playstation i just finished Death Stranding Directors Cut, loved the story and the ending was really interesting. Enjoyed it alot more than I thought I would. Now playing Kena from ps extra after recently resubscribing due to a 59% discount offered by Sony.

On Xbox I am playing Tomb Raider Remastered. Just finished tomb of khamoon in TR1, up to Opera House in TR2 and finished the jungle first level in TR3. Really enjoying the nostalgia trip and the games still hold up today

Re: Tomb Raider Fans Spot 'The Last Revelation' Teaser In 1-3 Remastered

Sakai

Really enjoying the remaster so far. Got it on Sunday and finished the first 3 levels of Tomb Raider 1 and finished the first 2 levels of tomb raider 2 (great wall and venice) venice was more confusing than I remember!

Such nostalgia. And really great games.

Maybe it's because of my past experience, but the tank controls are perfectly fine. I actually prefer them to the modern control scheme for these games!

Going to get on with some more tomb raiding tonight when the little ones go to bed.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 17-18)

Sakai

Death Stranding Directors Cut. Made it to edge knot city and just defeated the big BT. Think its act 10 or possibly 9? The story is very interesting and I have even found the gameplay fun. It may be a walking sim kind of, but I have enjoyed it none the less. Especially the firing range its been fun getting the S rank on them all.

Think my next game will either the MGS collection or the tomb raider collection. Which one would people recommend playing first as I like both of the series

Re: Reaction: Xbox's Commitment To Console Gaming Is Pleasing, But Big Questions Linger

Sakai

@Kaloudz I for one would appreciate your continued input on the site, however if you feel unable to for whatever reason, I wish you the best of luck in the future.

I have enjoyed your contribution to this community and feel your input (wether I agree with it or not) will be missed.

We all disagree from time to time, and have different opinions, but we should not lose sight of the fact we are all just gamers trying to share our love for our favourite hobby

Re: Reaction: Xbox's Commitment To Console Gaming Is Pleasing, But Big Questions Linger

Sakai

Maybe we're overreacting

That was the overriding feeling I got reading this article to be honest with you. Will there be more games? More than likely. Will it be everything? Probably not. Will they launch day and date multiplatform games? Absolutely.

Phil refusing to reveal the four games that are going to other consoles

I am sure they will be announced when the developers are ready? I am not sure why so many are reading so much into this.

Some of the articles from Purexbox and Pushsquare have been baffling yesterday and today. And it's clear some commenters only heard what they wanted to hear yesterday.

@RadioHedgeFund
This was a little snippet about xcloud on ios from yesterday's interview if it helps.

Re: Xbox Talks Game Preservation, Says Players Should Be 'Confident' Building Digital Libraries

Sakai

I still think it's cool I can insert my ninja gaiden discs I purchased all of those years ago, and they work on the series x and play better than ever. (Ninja Gaiden for life!) Yes I know its not running off the disc, but the end result is the same.

I hope the Switch 2 is physically BC, as every switch game I have is physical and I am really looking forward to the Switch 2. But who knows as Nintendo always like to Nintendo.

If only xbox would add JSRF to the BC list I could finally stop asking every, single, showcase.

Re: New Xbox Update Makes More Improvements To Installation Speeds

Sakai

@Cikajovazmaj When not running a game, my series x gets 300-350mbps, my ps5 gets about 150-190mbps. Both on the same 350mbps fibre connection and both using the same brand of CAT 8 cable.

The switch is noticeably slower still but that is wireless as I have the launch model without the ethernet port in the dock. Don't think I have ever got above 65mbps from my Switch, which is one of the reasons why I never buy games online for it and always buy physical

Re: Xbox Legend 'Major Nelson' Shares His Curiosity About This Week's Rumours

Sakai

@Titntin thanks for clarifying, as you say it's been increasingly difficult to distinguish fact from fiction in all of this. But who knows you could be right!

This is a far bigger discussion than childish chest beating over whether you prefer a blue or green toy?
This could change the course of gaming, for better or worse, in a way that transcends ridiculous brand loyalties.

This has been one of the most frustrating things in the whole discussion. I wish more people would understand this and see the bigger picture

Re: God Of War Creator Suggests New Exclusive Strategy Could Be 'Desirable' For Xbox

Sakai

Here is a question that I do not have the information to answer with 100% guarantee, which is integral to the whole topic. Maybe somebody else does and could chime in?

Would the increase in 1st party game sales on other platforms like PS and Nintendo, offset the potential loss of 3rd party game sales, dlc and microtransactions on their store if less people purchased stuff from the xbox store and xbox consoles in general. Microsoft make 30% on everything.

If I was to guess I would say no, not at all.

I think its something Jaffe and most other people completely miss in their calculations

Re: The FTC Is Concerned About Xbox's Recent Batch Of Employee Layoffs

Sakai

@somnambulance @Widey85 Since the 1970s, no verticle merger has been unwound in the USA. The government has lost all 3 verticle merger challenges in the modern age with those cases being:

UnitedHealth/Change
Illumina/Grail
AT&T/Time Warner

And most of those had the support of the DoJ as well, which they do no in the MS/ATVI case

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Expect To See From Microsoft's Update On The Future Of Xbox?

Sakai

Is that not normal for everyone to not know....Other wise leaks happen....I would only expect senior management to know until the information is public. These discussions will only involve senior management. Why do people think that is weird?

The more interesting part of his post is that he is also insinuating that a lot of the people who started the rumours last week/weekend are backtracking on them as they did not have a clue?

Only Microsoft knows, but they are slowly destroying all their good over the next week

Re: Phil Spencer Addresses Xbox Speculation Ahead Of 'Business Update Event'

Sakai

@themightyant i did not say anything remotely like that mate. it's not about the game coming to another platform, it's the fact it will be the death of xbox, and competition in the gaming industry for the reasons I have already mentioned.

You already have devs comming out questioning if its even worth making a port for xbox now. This is only going to get worse and worse. Just so we are on the same page, nowhere did i complain about more people playing games. I am complaining about xbox kneecapping their own system and providing no competition.

They have death spiralled their own console and brand to make a few quick bucks from game sales, it's insane.

Re: Xbox Indie Developer Shares His Concerns Following This Week's Rumours

Sakai

And this is exactly what I said in the other thread.

If they put any exclusives onto rival platforms without it being reciprocated, it is the beginning of the end for the ecosystem.

Nobody is going to waste their time porting games to a dieing platform that made itself irrelevant.

Even if its only a handful of games, every game announcement and every xbox direct, people will not be discussing the games, they will be asking what platforms or how long its exclusive. They will have effectively killed every single drop of hype on their platform.

Next week could make Don Mattricks E3 look like a fun family vacation

Re: Phil Spencer Addresses Xbox Speculation Ahead Of 'Business Update Event'

Sakai

And if it is only a handful of games like some are hoping, that just means every game announcement, every bit of information, will be followed not by excitement, but constant questions of if its comming to PS/Nintendo, or that it will eventually go there anyway. Xbox hype will be dead. Its death by a thousand cuts and the writing will be on the wall.

Re: Phil Spencer Addresses Xbox Speculation Ahead Of 'Business Update Event'

Sakai

It will be just the start of a death spiral if they put any of their exclusives on rival platforms, even after a year or two. Less reason to own an xbox, even less people buy xbox, less 3rd party games come to xbox, xbox slowly dies. Don't fall for the PR speak, if they follow through on the rumours, this is the beginning of the end for xbox.

As a multiplatform gamer I supported the ABK aquisition as I believed it would increase competition in the industry and we the consumers would benefit. For MS to run away and wave the white flag is a disgrace.

There is a reason nobody else would be stupid enough to give their exclusives away, as it would destroy their ecosystem

Re: Reaction: We're Conflicted About Xbox Exclusives Potentially Going To PS5

Sakai

If they put their exclusives on ps and Nintendo there is no reason to own an xbox at all, not even gamepass will save the ecosystem. Even less people will spend money on or even purchase the platform in the first place and honestly I will have very little sympathy for them, as they did it to themselfs.

They may not plan to be the next Sega, but if they do this, they will. The xbox ecosystem will be deader than a dead thing from deadland

Re: Thrustmaster's Latest Xbox Elite-Style Controller Is Here, Featuring 'Cutting Edge' Tech

Sakai

@InterceptorAlpha everyone has their own preferences but we survived for decades with wired controllers, I am sure you will get along fine with it mate, it is 3m so you kind of forget its there to be honest.

@MaccaMUFC make sure you buy the SE as that is the one with hall effect sticks. I have had mine for a while now and find it a really great controller. The sticks are way more accurate than those found in the standard controller aswell, so you get precision and reliability.
Makes you wonder why the standard controller does not have back buttons or hall effect sticks, if gamesir can do it at a reasonable price point.
