Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered is officially out today, marking the arrival of three PS1 classics on Xbox consoles. We're very happy to see these old school third-person adventures finally land on Xbox - if you'd like to read our full review on the collection, check out the link below!
While this release has extra significance for us considering it's the first time these games have come to the platform, it has got us thinking about potential remasters that did launch on Xbox. Specifically, we've been thinking about what we'd like to see return from the OG Xbox era.
Being big racing game fans, we'd love to see some classic racers return to modern Xbox platforms. The first few PGR games, some of the older Burnout titles or classic Need for Speed entries like Underground 2 would all make for amazing remasters on Xbox Series X and S.
There are some more obvious titles that would receive massive fanfare if they returned though. We immediately think about The Simpsons: Hit and Run and how popular that game remains 20 years on from its Xbox release. Seriously, everyone seems to want a Hit & Run remaster - even DOOM composer Mick Gordon!
Now that Xbox owns Activision Blizzard, there's potentially more scope with that library too. Last month we talked at length about five Activision games we want to become backwards compatible - including OG Xbox classics Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex and Tony Hawk's Underground. If Microsoft fancies going all-out with remasters of these, we'd definitely be on board!
Having namedropped some big titles here, are there any other OG Xbox games you want remastered for Series X and S? Whether that be seminal collections like today's Tomb Raider re-release or more of a one-off hit like SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, what other Xbox classics do you want remastered for modern consoles?
Drop your top wishes for OG Xbox remasters down in the comments below!

Jade Empire, Mechassault, Crimson Skies and Blue Dragon, to start.
@CharlieChooChoo using the tech from Flight Simulator drool
Not OG, but man, I'd love a remastered Lost Odyssey, or even an FPS boost. That game lured me over to Xbox 16 years ago and I've been rocking it ever since.
JSRF, Otogi series and Panzeer Dragoon Orta.
<<<< (brute force). Also Morrowind, Splinter cell, and chronicles of riddick.
The buffy game was always a guilty pleasure of mine. I would love a remaster of that but the IP might be dead after the creater got heat for being a creep.
Jet set radio future but just a port would do, wish bc was still going.
How about Final Doom or Quake 4 to go along with the Quake 2 remaster
I say it every year around E3 time.....JSRF
Steel Battalion, also need to get rid of the Kinect controls from the Xbox 360 sequel.
Soldier of Fortune series would be great.
American Wasteland please
Og xb emu may solve what u need
I'd buy classic Resident Evil and Dino Crisis on Switch and PS5 in a heartbeat.
Manhunt, Deus Ex: Invisible War and The Suffering.
I'd just love to be able to download to my series X the games I purchased digitally on my 360 that have been delisted, principally Sega Rally and Outrun
(my 360 is long since dead)
Gun & Crash Twinsanity.
Give me both X-Men Legends games, Advent Rising, Killswitch, abd Black, please.
Test Drive: Eve Of Destruction
It’s still a firm favourite in our household - would love a new one though!
Easy
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic one of the best xbox games ever .
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3. My absolute favorite one of the series. I was crushed when I heard that there was one planned but then Bobby Kotick canceled it. Hopefully with M.S. now owning Activision it will be back on.
Of course Simpsons Hit and Run especially with some QoL changes.
I would also like to see a Remaster of Chrono Trigger since they did the other games in the series but left out Trigger.
> Panzer Dragoon Orta. It holds up surprisingly well in backwards compatibility mode, but I would love to have a true 16:9 version.
> Psychonauts. A remaster of the original in the engine of Psychonauts 2 would be pretty awesome. I want the 16:9 experience on console!
> Blinx: The Time Sweeper. Again for the 16:9 experience, but also to modernise the controls and add in an easier mode (yes I said it).
Hulk Ultimate Destruction
Azurik Rise of Perathia
Jade empire The Starwars old republic games and as always Morrowind
@Kaloudz Those two games will always be among my favorite OG Xbox games to play!
the suffering
Activision classic Pitfall The Lost Expedition the last console entry, it has it's moments of like Tomb Raider a bit dated dialogue wise but at the same time a metroidvania in 2004 during the time of Prime 2 like I just love the game. It's approachable of difficulty, the adventure is fun, the locations are fair, the abilities in terms of the shaman shop or the gear you get makes it fun with primitive tools but effective to get the job done. No guns or sci-fi or fantasy tools here.
Many 6th gen platformers, racing or shooters I'd say. Dr Muto WB/Midway won't do anything with. They'd probably have to change some thing though.
COD of the OG Xbox era, come on Acvitision. I got PS2 versions because I don't have an OG Xbox but will eventually. I could have gotten some if they made them back compat but I can't.
I mean TimeShift, Blur, Prototype and more just make them back compat available Activision please.
Raze's Hell, would be interesting. We had Conker or there is a mature Indie platformer. I think a game of it's tone and gameplay (not a platformer) could be interesting again with the cute looking aliens.
So many racing games of PGR, Auto Modellisa, R Racing, will never happen. Sega GT 2002. I'd love a fake licenses racing games like Wreckfest/Flatout, Ridge Racer (arcade or sim gameplay structure of careers and handling) but most companies don't do that.
Forza Motorsport 1 is the last one I need, have the rest (not 8/Series consoles entry). I miss it's tracks not in other entries, the region system of 1 & 2 that Ride 4 improves on. But ah licensing/car makers/sponsors/ads/music. They are time capsules.
Blinx is on back compat of 360 and Xbox One/Series but I mean a remaster would be nice. If they had voice acting in 1 I don't know. 2 did have it and it was fair alongside it's balance of characters.
2 needs more support, it's action focused but was also never put to back compat like the 1st always is and people barely know the 2nd exists. The puzzle focused 1st one needs refinements in areas of difficulty/pacing in some levels, the vacuums/store which 2 fixed. The 2nd dumbs the puzzles down but it has co-op is action focused so. Maybe a blend of the two would be nice.
Loving Tomb Raider 1-3 on my Xbox. Other older games I’d like to see them give the same treatment, JSRF, Resident Evil series, Silent Hill series, Fatal Frame/Project Zero 1-3, Shenmue. Yes I know some are playable on the current Xbox, but to be able to toggle with updated graphics and controls would be a blast. I’m sure there’s others I’d like to have as well but those were off the top of my head. I’ll be diving deeper into the Tomb Raider games this weekend.
@FarmDog08 Lost Odyssey & Blue Dragon both would be awesome. If they do want a few more Xbox games on other consoles, I think those would fit in easily with the other ecosystems.
Am sure some have already been mentioned, but The Suffering, Jade Empire, Arx Fatalis, Black, Escape from Butcher Bay, Darkwatch, Enclave, Fahrenheit, Gun, The Punisher, and The Thing are all games Id love to revisit new/improved versions of…
I'd settle for BC for Star Wars Obi-Wan and Genma Onimusha, since Capcom only remastered the PS2 version. Why the hell is Obi-Wan the only OG Xbox Star Wars game that isn't BC!?!?!?
Gauntlet Dark Legacy. That game is still fun as hell, but them graphics are looking pretty rough these days.
I'd also love to see Ubisoft do a remaster/remake of Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
the 3 TMNT games from the era, with QoL improvements
Tao Feng
JSRF
Crimson Skies
KOTOR since thats not actually happening
Hit and Run
OTTOMH
I would like if it was possible. For either Dynasty Warriors Gundam 1,2 and 3 to be remastered. Also Def jam vendetta, Def jam fight for NY. NFL Street and NBA Street. I would love that a whole lot. Hoping it might happen but wishful thinking 🤔
@NoLifeDGenerate
This winds me up too! There are literally no license issues going on here, so it can only be technical reasons? I know that the xbox 360 couldn't emulate the game because the controls wouldn't allow the joysticks to work properly. So maybe they are having the same problem with the xbox series X/S XBONE port?
It's a crime though, such a great game!!!
@Savage_Joe
Theres a very very slim chance this might be made Backwards compatible with the Activision Buyout.
Very slim though as theres those license problems they have to sort first
Heck, I rather more games added to backwards compatibility. But any remastered are welcome too.
