You just feel sorry for the developers who have clearly put so much time and effort into something, for others to spread toxic nonsense. I do hate people sometimes...
Another good review which is good to see. I'm really enjoying the game. I bought into the early access which I wasn't going to, but just couldn't resist after reading some of the reviews. I have played other Bethesda games through the years, but because they go on for so long, I tend to move onto other games and never go back. But this just draws me in and I can see myself wanting to complete as much as possible.
@TC2020 said "I think when you've decided to sit and play a game for an hour, then you notice 3 hours have passed, there's got to be something about it that works."
Haha I can relate to that. I sat down to play once at about 6pm and 10 minutes later it was 7:45pm... Honestly that makes no sense, but that's how it felt. π
I save quite regular too. I had one crash so far. The game started seriously stuttering mid game then crashed. It didn't set me back much, but yeah... I save quite often.
That's a great summary and I completely agree about the atmospheric music. Especially when it plays just as your ship takes off, just magical. I always play with my headphones on too and it's just like playing in a movie sometimes.
I personally think NOT having a map has made for a more enjoyable journey. Also, the scanner is very useful. You have to take in your surroundings to a much greater detail because you're having to remember which way to go, and the longer you play, everything becomes familiar from landmarks or places you've been through before. Even if you do get lost, chances are you'll find something new on the way. This is exploration after all.
@Smooshy Pretty much the same experience as you mate. I never really put a lot of time into other Bethesda games, but the vibe of this game just sucked me in. I'm having a great time with it. I've put about 22 hours into it so far; main questing, side missions, exploring, ship mods, base building, improving weapons and my character, I'm loving every minute. There is one loading screen which is on for about 8 seconds, but it also shows the photos you've taken on your travels too, so I like that and don't have any issues with it at all. Then you have the blank loading screens when you enter certain areas and these take literally about 3 seconds and your back in the game, not a big deal really π
You need fast travel in a game of this size, I don't see an issue with it.
Anyhoo, I am absolutely loving the game. I enjoyed it so much over the weekend, I'm annoyed to be at work π€£
I love everything about it... sure I agree with some of the comments above, but they don't bother me at all. I actually like the loading screen where it shows what photos you have taken on your travels too. The game is exactly how I expected it to be, love it.
@docLEXfisti Just thinking out loud really, but if you leave your ship behind, board another ship that takes off, does your original ship stay where it is?
Well I'll be leaving work within the hour. Got the whole weekend to myself and Starfield. So with the wife away π¬ RetroMan is gonna play, watch movies, drink some beer and just chill.
Sounds similar to how Tod Howard explained his experience one time. He boarded an enemy ship that randomly landed, and whilst involved in a gun fight onboard, the ship took off π€£ He never really said what happened next... SO! what happens to the ship once you've killed everyone and your still onboard? π€·ββοΈ
@Aniscape Sounds great... I'm going to pace myself too and make my own experience. I'm looking forward to getting stuck into the ship building feature.
@Xboxer999 Same here... I wasn't going to bother with early access, but after reviews and videos on youtube, I took the plunge. And besides, the early access cost also includes the first DLC when released.
@Xboxer999 Yeah some reviews are quite strange actually. Take Metro for example, they are pooping all over Starfield reporting bugs and making negative comments overall about gameplay and design etc. whilst others are praising and reporting the complete opposite. You really have to play the game yourself and ignore the comments.
@Dan1283 "xbox fanboys thought it was going be the best game ever lol"
Nothing wrong with that, what with all the hype and build up surrounding it. From what I've seen so far, the game looks brilliant, so hopefully, Bethesda will take on board some of the feedback and comments and make the game even better.
It doesn't happen often, but I have the whole weekend to myself and I'm seriously tempted to get the early access now. I've read some some great reviews and read some stinkers too, but it looks so damn good.
I can't wait to play this, but I haven't bothered with early access. How-ever, depending on how I feel after the reviews, I might change my mind π€·ββοΈ
I do prefer a more linear approach when it comes to shooters. You can't beat a good close quarter gun fight with no where run, just take cover and throw everything you got at the enemy.
I played a few hours last night and looking forward to jumping back in again. I really like the interesting level design and always get a tiny buzz of excitement every time I find a treasure chest. π¬
I've just downloaded this to my console so I can jump straight in when I get home from work. However I fear when Starfield is ready to play, it might get pushed to one side for a while.
@J_Mo_Money Indeed, I think these two games will keep us going for a while. I'm really looking forward to Starfield but desperate for a decent racer to play as well π
I am really looking forward to Starfield, but I'm still concerned about it's size when it comes to exploring, especially when you are only able to walk or jetpac. I understand there will be plenty of other stuff to keep you occupied like main missions, side missions etc. but will random exploration really be of any benefit on these 1000s of planets? Maybe random events will take place?
No Mans Sky for example... I love that game, but exploration does get boring when you don't really find anything or achieve anything from it.
Believe it or not, these aren't games I've played a great deal of, but just purely for the fun factor I would go with GTA, but I do prefer the look and feel of the world in Red Dead.
@mac_da_man I absolutely loved SW Battlefront 2, are there still plenty players online? I might have to revisit that. It's a shame they stopped supporting it.
Anyhoo, I've been chipping away at Everspace 2. Now, it does look great and I am enjoying it... BUT! some of the missions where you have to search empty vessels in your ship are a bit annoying. You have to grab things with the ship, then transport that item elsewhere... it might just be me, but it gets fiddly. π€·ββοΈ

@GeeEssEff Yes I love this too. I'm always taking pics of my journey and it's always great to see some of the earlier ones when they show up.

"Give your pals new clothes..."
That's it then. I'm going to find the most ridiculous looking outfit and pass this on to someone.
