Re: Review: Starfield - Bethesda Serves Up Its Best RPG Yet In A Messy, Exciting And Emotional Space Odyssey

RetroMan71

Another good review which is good to see. I'm really enjoying the game. I bought into the early access which I wasn't going to, but just couldn't resist after reading some of the reviews. I have played other Bethesda games through the years, but because they go on for so long, I tend to move onto other games and never go back. But this just draws me in and I can see myself wanting to complete as much as possible.

@TC2020 said "I think when you've decided to sit and play a game for an hour, then you notice 3 hours have passed, there's got to be something about it that works."

Haha I can relate to that. I sat down to play once at about 6pm and 10 minutes later it was 7:45pm... Honestly that makes no sense, but that's how it felt. 😊

Re: Early Access Players, What Are Your First Impressions Of Starfield?

@Sveakungen "mini map would be good"

I personally think NOT having a map has made for a more enjoyable journey. Also, the scanner is very useful. You have to take in your surroundings to a much greater detail because you're having to remember which way to go, and the longer you play, everything becomes familiar from landmarks or places you've been through before. Even if you do get lost, chances are you'll find something new on the way. This is exploration after all.

@Smooshy Pretty much the same experience as you mate. I never really put a lot of time into other Bethesda games, but the vibe of this game just sucked me in. I'm having a great time with it. I've put about 22 hours into it so far; main questing, side missions, exploring, ship mods, base building, improving weapons and my character, I'm loving every minute. There is one loading screen which is on for about 8 seconds, but it also shows the photos you've taken on your travels too, so I like that and don't have any issues with it at all. Then you have the blank loading screens when you enter certain areas and these take literally about 3 seconds and your back in the game, not a big deal really 😏

Re: Poll: Starfield Explorers, What Do You Think Of Fast Travel So Far?

RetroMan71

You need fast travel in a game of this size, I don't see an issue with it.
Anyhoo, I am absolutely loving the game. I enjoyed it so much over the weekend, I'm annoyed to be at work 🀣
I love everything about it... sure I agree with some of the comments above, but they don't bother me at all. I actually like the loading screen where it shows what photos you have taken on your travels too. The game is exactly how I expected it to be, love it.

Re: Where's Our Starfield Review?

@Dan1283 "xbox fanboys thought it was going be the best game ever lol"

Nothing wrong with that, what with all the hype and build up surrounding it. From what I've seen so far, the game looks brilliant, so hopefully, Bethesda will take on board some of the feedback and comments and make the game even better.

I am really looking forward to Starfield, but I'm still concerned about it's size when it comes to exploring, especially when you are only able to walk or jetpac. I understand there will be plenty of other stuff to keep you occupied like main missions, side missions etc. but will random exploration really be of any benefit on these 1000s of planets? Maybe random events will take place?

No Mans Sky for example... I love that game, but exploration does get boring when you don't really find anything or achieve anything from it.

@mac_da_man I absolutely loved SW Battlefront 2, are there still plenty players online? I might have to revisit that. It's a shame they stopped supporting it.

Anyhoo, I've been chipping away at Everspace 2. Now, it does look great and I am enjoying it... BUT! some of the missions where you have to search empty vessels in your ship are a bit annoying. You have to grab things with the ship, then transport that item elsewhere... it might just be me, but it gets fiddly. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
