5/10 here. I'm only a few hours in, but it hasn't hooked me. Kai is a less-than-interesting first companion. There are tons of unpolished little issues with the graphics, at least on Series X. It really feels ten years old. I don't normally care about character customization, but couldn't help but notice the limited options. I am a huge Obsidian fan boy and really want to say 9 or 10, but it's just not there. Maybe once I've seen more it will improve. Right now it seems not just undercooked, but underdreamed.
I bought a Series X for Starfield...SMH. But, I also knew I'd need it for GTA6 and have been eagerly anticipating it. Bought my grandson one for Christmas so he could play new Farming Simulator as well as this when it comes out. It's already selling consoles.
Heh. I think the folks pretending GTA isn't the greatest game franchise of all time are the same ones that think Game Pass needs more indie trash. I'm confident Rockstar will deliver me hundreds of hours of engaging gameplay regardless of FPS.
Who even asked for this? What kind of freaks still want to play anything split-screen, let alone a turn-based RPG? We used to play split-screen out of necessity, not because it was a great way to play together. Remembering Twisted Metal and all the clones of it on split-screen and wishing we could hook up another TV and each have our own screen like we could with Command and Conquer on PSX Dual-link. I've lived through the entire evolution of video games and am certain only the tiniest minority of gamers see this as a "feature".
6-10, but none of those were 2024 releases. This has been one of the worst years for games I've ever experienced. Honestly can't name one memorable new title I enjoyed.
A celebration of mediocrity. These might be some of the best this year, but that just shows what a bad year it was for games. Even Indy was just okay. Certainly not remarkable or award-worthy. Hope Avowed proves itself worth waiting for in a couple months.
4/10 seems perfect. Looks like it's at least ten years old. Lots of bugs. Everything feels familiar and uninspired. Clunky inventory. I heard it recommended as spiritual successor to New Vegas and whoever wrote that should have their credentials revoked. Played about two hours, realized I was neither engaged nor having fun, and deleted off my Series X.
I agonize over RPG character creation, but traits and skills and such are what concerns me. I rarely feel the need to play dress-up with my electronic dolls. I was popular in WoW because I enjoyed clearing old content but had no interest in cosmetics.
Well, it's a fantastic game. Just recently replayed it and still holds up quite well. However, it's just another case of Game Pass finally getting something that isn't indie trash only for it to be something I already own. Really wish I didn't feel like I "need" Game Pass just to play Forza with my grandson a couple time a month.
@cardcrusher29 I was trying to find the joy. It's kinda like when you get weak weed and keep smoking it because you already paid for it and you're certain you'll catch a buzz eventually. I'd already spent my game budget on this instead of Baldurs Gate 3, so I literally had nothing better to play. I remembered how long it took me to warm up to Fallout 4, which eventually became my go-to game over Skyrim. I desperately wanted to love Starfield. I bought a Series X just for it, I was that hyped to play. Emil makes me worried they'll continue with this homogenized games-by-committee formula.
Disappointed again. Starfield is the most disappointing game I've ever purchased. I've played hundreds of hours looking for the fun. With the exception of the Terrormorph quest line, it's all been forgettable. Not so much as an engaging and memorable character like Moira in Megaton. No lines stuck in my head like "arrow to the knee". Much like Andromeda compared to other Mass Effect titles, Starfield is somehow less than all the BGS games before it. If you've never played a Mass Effect game to compare it with, Andromeda is an excellent game. Same for Starfield.
I bought premium, so I feel obligated to play Shattered Space, but I keep turning it on, putzing around for a bit, then playing something else. My crappy phone game, Watcher of Realms, holds my interest better.
I haven't seen anything worth buying this year. I like single-player RPGs that don't make me feel like I'm retrogaming, have engaging NPCs, and tell a somewhat mature story. So, I haven't liked anything since BG3, obviously.
I literally bought a Series X just for Starfield. Got the premium version. Used a couple vacation days to maximize my early access. Played well over 150 hours searching for the magic. Left completely disappointed. It's not terrible by any means, but it lacks everything that makes the other Bethesda games so captivating and replayable. It's all so sterile and homogenized. No memorable characters or dialog. No story beats I yearn to experience again. I loved building settlements in Fallout 4 way more than I thought I would. Trying to find the same joy in Starfield was completely fruitless, especially when I colonized an entire system, set up mines and supply chains through much trial-and-error frustration, and then realized I had so much surplus cash I could have just bought everything without mining at all.
It disappointed as a sandbox. It disappointed as an RPG. It mildly succeeds at being a shooter, but it's supposed to be those other 2 things first.... 4/10
It's the same stuff for the same sale prices. I have 20+ games on my wish list, most of which never go on sale. The few that do get 10-15% off or are so overpriced that 50% still isn't a bargain. Looking at you, GTA Trilogy. I don't know how they select their sale items, but I sure wish there was more variety.
I already find it too expensive. Too much indie trash for my tastes. I especially despise that we can't have full versions of older games like New Vegas. I let Game Pass run out once I got bored with Starfield and haven't seen anything added or even coming soon that would pull me back in.
It's been awhile since I've laughed at a game as hard as Immortals. They literally skinned "magic" effects over guns. Nothing about it felt magical at all. It was just familiar pistol, shotgun, machine gun, etc but...MAGIC! Uninspired is about the nicest thing you can say about it. 5/10 at best and only because it did seem to work okay.
I really wanted to like it. Graphics are gorgeous, but everything else was lacking from voice-acting to overall gameplay. Kinda felt like they copied Just Cause and then sucked all the fun out of it. I rage quit after losing 3 hours of progress to an auto-save glitch.
I'd say about an 8. It's great, but sterile and kinda lifeless. I was playing Everspace 2 up until Starfield released and it had better space travel, combat, and better starports. The story is awfully weak. My eyes rolled so hard when I found the major Skyrim parallel. And the characters suck. I don't like anyone I've met do far. They are painfully characters instead of people. Met lots of peopley-people in Fallout and TES. None here, except maybe Sona. I'd rank this below Fallout 4, Skyrim, and New Vegas, but better than Oblivion. All that said, I'm 30+ hours in and keep coming back for more. I love how episodic it can be. I can play through an entire quest line in 90 minutes or so and then put it down and go to bed without FOMO.
Nothing exciting here. Wish we could get fewer games but of higher quality. I do love that we keep getting somewhat interesting rpgs, but I always shut them off after an hour or so of reading. Indie or not, there is zero excuse for not having voice-acting these days. At least give me a narrator. I love books; I just don't want to read my video game.

@Titntin There's a North arrow on the mini-map. They didn't put an "N" on it, but they did provide an orientation point.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled On Xbox Game Pass?
Ugly, clunky, glitchy....it's almost shovelware. Would've been possibly okay on 360, but shameful today.
