We have two new Xbox Game Pass additions today, folks - both via the EA Play library. The major addition here is Ascendant Studios' magic shooter Immortals of Aveum, while Cloud users can also get stuck into NHL 24 on Game Pass later in the afternoon.
Here's a brief introduction to today's two new Xbox Game Pass titles:
Immortals of Aveum (Console, PC, Cloud) - Later Today
"Immortals of Aveum thrusts players into visceral and action-packed gameplay, testing players’ skills in fast, fluid combat that is easy to learn and satisfying to master. Legions of Rasharnian forces stand in players’ way as they learn to unleash over 25 different unique spells, thoughtful combos and well-timed counters. Featuring a deep progression system with over 80 unique Talents, there are countless ways to build characters and even more ways to crush enemies."
EA Sports NHL 24 (Cloud) - Later Today
"Experience the rush and fatigue of a high-pressure game with the Exhaust Engine, where sustained pressure in the attack zone leads to new game-changing effects like goalie fatigue that slows the netminder’s reaction time the more they get worn down with offensive action; change the momentum with Physics-Based Contact as you break the glass and send players into the bench with big body checks; and get unparalleled player command with the new Vision Passing System and Total Control Skill Moves."

I will try Immortals eventually but have very low expectations supposed to as bad as RedFall. Too many games in backlog I would rather play.
I hope Immortals of Aveum finds an audience on EA Play/Game Pass. I played a bit at a mates, it's not a bad game, just a little uninspired. But it felt like the sort of 7/10 that will appeal to many players looking for a fix who will enjoy it more.
I'm also interested in giving NHL a try as I haven't played one in years. NHL 94 was an all time classic... 30 years, sheesh, i'm gettin' old!
Immortals is actually OK, far better than its demise would lead you to believe.
I tried it on PS plus and I'm glad to see it on Game Pass now as the devs clearly put a lot of work into it and deserve to see it get played. Its by no means perfect, but it's a good 7/10 game imo and perfect for trying on a sub service..
I'm only interested in Immortals. It looked like a game of Style over Substance - with generic characters, plot and game-play - not something I wanted to buy at launch but maybe would have picked up in a Sale at some point.
It's been awhile since I've laughed at a game as hard as Immortals. They literally skinned "magic" effects over guns. Nothing about it felt magical at all. It was just familiar pistol, shotgun, machine gun, etc but...MAGIC! Uninspired is about the nicest thing you can say about it. 5/10 at best and only because it did seem to work okay.
Anyone play Immortals on Series S? I heard it was horrendous at launch but that was over a year ago. I hope they've patched it up
I’ve actually already played both. Immortals is a great great starting point and it’s a shame they’re never gonna get a chance to take it further. Immortals of Aveum 2, would have been amazing or game changer, or both. Just so happens, since it wasn’t the most bought game ever in its opening as a new ip it’s dead. Such a shame.
I will try immortals as I don’t wanna buy it.
@Kooky_Geezer don’t even bother. Performance is awful on series x and it doesn’t even look great. Voice acting is B teen movie level bad. Very bland and uninspired.
