Crashes & Major Issues
- Adjusted character settings so that unkillable characters will now respawn if they mysteriously die, preventing blocked quest progression.
Quests & Area Design
- Loot piles will no longer be placed in unexpected locations when created while the player is far away. Previously affected saved games will now have the loot pile back where the owning character died.
- Players who killed Kostya and destroyed Solace Keep will no longer experience a dropped conversation when speaking with the leaders of the Living Lands during The Siege of Paradis. (Players with affected saves can now simply walk in and out of the meeting space to retrigger the conversation.)
- Bounty Masters in Dawnshore, Shatterscarp, and Galawain’s Tusks now correctly allow players to turn in bounties, even if they have acquired more trophy items than expected.
- Vemas now allows players to turn in Debt of Blood, even if they had already spoken to him upon returning.
- The player will no longer become stuck with no objectives active during An Untimely End.
- Fixed an issue where the player could become stuck in the environment near Dehengen's Cottage.
- Enemy loot will no longer disappear if the player killed Ygwulf and the assassins in the Cistern, saved their game, and then reloaded that save.
- Ambassador Hylgard can no longer die from drowning in The Strangleroot while following the player, which was preventing him from appearing at the embassy in Paradis.
- The player will no longer be blocked from finishing Ancient Soil if Fior mes Iverno becomes inaccessible.
Systems & Gameplay Improvements
- Godless chests and sarcophagi now have currency in their loot lists.
- Upgrade materials (metal, wood, leather) are now more consistently available across stores in each region.
- Upgrade materials now properly refresh when store stock updates.
- Autosave frequency has been changed from 5 minutes to 10 minutes by default. (This can still be adjusted in player settings.)
- Autosave slots increased from 3 to 5.
- The ability Bleeding Cuts now applies Bleed Accumulation more reliably.
- Logging into Xbox Network on Steam no longer resets the player's selected language setting.
- Kai is now less likely to teleport inside a wall while using Leap of Daring.
- Companions now assist in combat more reliably.
Visual & Art Fixes
- Militia Guard patrolling Claviger's Landing now has the correct neck texture.
- Adjusted health bar position for the enemy Putrid Skeleton Wizard.
- Fixed jittering of player hair and armor when afflicted by Poison Accumulation.
- Reduced opacity of a water fountain inside Ondra's Temple.
User Interface (UI) & Controls
- Companion abilities bound to the Quick Slot menu no longer become undone after reloading a save.
- Added new settings for controller users to adjust gamepad look acceleration strength and ramp-up time.
- Corrected typos in the Encumbrance tutorial and on the Compiling Shaders screen (now correctly states “a few minutes” instead of “a few moments”).
Miscellaneous
- Launching Avowed with DirectX 11 is now disabled, as the game does not support it.
- Some players have been using a DirectX 11 launch parameter as a workaround for various crashes, performance problems, or compatibility concerns. However, this can introduce additional problems that we cannot troubleshoot or resolve, including unexpected visual or performance issues.
- If you're encountering startup crashes, we recommend updating your drivers, verifying your game files, or reaching out to our support team at support.obsidian.net for assistance.

If you haven't already taken a look at our Avowed review, here's a quick sample of our thoughts about the Xbox release:
"Avowed arrives in pretty great shape overall, and presents a very moreish, highly replayable campaign that we will 100% be running multiple times as various classes over the coming months. Which really speaks to the fun we've had with this one. With more time on our hands we'd likely have spent double the amount of time just exploring every nook and cranny here, which is all the recommendation you could ask for, really."

There's still some things to fix. Just yesterday I did a quest in a certain order and then I was locked out of doing another one peacefully.
Still a really fun game.
Just wish they would sort out the issue thst stick drift is causing every time click on inventory ext. It's so slow. Got about 20 hours into the game and enjoying it but this issue is really annoying. Hopefully it improves
@Kb42 yes, the menu stick drift issue is ridiculous and frustrating. It forced me to buy a new controller. There are also still character animations (series X performance) that stutter bad in both cutscenes and general gameplay. She said it would have jank, and it sure does. Still having a blast at 46 hours in though.
Great game and really enjoying.
The only thing for me is mid distance foliage mainly really does fizz when panning around.
Must be the upscaling I think, spoils the mid distance look of the game.
Series x, performance mode VRR 120hz.
Tried some different settings but that dam fizz will not go away.
Is definitely the game as Indy never had mid distance fizz at all.
After 30 hours i am just done with this game. The leveling sucks. Every side quest i try and do is 2-3 skulls and a beat down. Can’t get better armor, my weapons are good and leveled up but that does very little. I like the world and the graphics but the combat is absolutely trash! You can’t block with a shield cause there are enemies hitting you from all sides. I wanted to like this game but it’s beyond mid.
I’ve been playing other things but had a brief look at launch. Although the gameplay was smooth (Series X, performance mode, VRR, 120hz tv) the early cut scenes sometimes ran run at a lower rate (perhaps 30-40fps). Is this something that has now been addressed or is it still an issue?
@HonestHick i am doing an unarmed pugilist run at the moment and not having any issues in combat.
Not sure what build you are doing but armour can & should be upgraded too. Break down anything you are not using inc. legendary weapons / armour. Sell gloves, boots, jewellry & gems to buy arda to upgrade quality (arda & lockpicks are all you should generally buy )
Kai can be set up to tank with a provoke that can help crowd control & later you have another companion that can be set up to heal. There are options in your own skill trees for CC, health return on hit & more health / stamina / essence or on call stealth if you need to break aggro.
Also don't neglect food & cooking in camp as you can get some quite long lasting buffs that help. If you eat food while at full health / essence you get a regen effect more you eat longer regen lasts so top up before a big fight for a steady health recoup.
I’m enjoying Avowed as a less intense RPG when I need a break from KCD2. But for the love of God could you please add at least one custom waypoint marker for the map Obsidian.
It's great to see they've added controller acceleration settings in this update. That was my number one issue with the game (other than my fear of spiders). Now it should feel much better to play on PC Gamepass.
@HonestHick as wide as an ocean and as deep as a puddle sadly.
The more you play. The more you notice things.
Still a solid game but certainly has issues
Nice to see patches. I second the need for a custom waypoint.
I'm also astonished we have a ' compass ' which doesn't show you where N, S, W, E are? Stupid, I continually have to open the map to to check my orientation, which is really stupid and totally unnessessary if their compass worked like every other compass ever....
Edit. The larger arrow for North has now been pointed out to me. Amazed I didn't see it, what a Muppet!
@Titntin There's a North arrow on the mini-map. They didn't put an "N" on it, but they did provide an orientation point.
Played it for about 8 hours last week.
It's okey, but it just feels too clunky and dated.
Feels like the game should have stayed in the oven for another year.
Just wish the story was better, as there's nothing there, to pull me back into the game.
If it came out in 2009, I would probably have loved it.
@MALEBRIGNON Thank you. Amazing isn't it that I can analyse a soft pixel and what aliasing is being used, but couldn't notice a larger arrow on a compass, even when looking for it?
They still haven't answered why the "Balanced" mode doesn't pop up even though the X is hooked up to a VRR monitor capable of 120+ mhz.
@RiverGenie i will give it another try tonight, cause i want to like the game, but i don’t like how all the quest seem way out of reach. 2-3 skulls on a lot of them. My axe is great, my shield is even great. But my armor is basic and i think that is one issue. Thanks for the tips,, i do cook some but i am not eating before a big fight. I need to try that.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner i agree with that. Good way to say it. Thing is i really want to like it cause at times i do. But the leveling up and the overall side missions being either way to easy in combat or to high is annoying.
@HonestHick I’ve enjoyed it so far, but my initial ‘hype’ has definitely lowered.
Either way there’s a great platform to build from for a second entry.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner agreed. They should try another one cause there is enough there to like or in my case not like. It’s an odd title for me. Cause i do have 30 hours in it. But the combat and lack of armor is killing it for me.
The game was released with bad optimization. It needs a lot of bug fixes and patches to improve performance. XBOX should create a supportive studio that will help the main game developers with optimization/performance for their games. Nintendo has a similar tactic with Mario Club, a supportive studio about testing, quality control, debugging, etc for all Nintendo titles.
Where is the patch that makes the friendly npcs not static placements? Tired of games coming to game pass unfinished, we've had some great games on game pass wartales, darktide, Yakuza and then got these AAA games that come out as a rushjob when they needed more development time to be fully realised.
@HonestHick I just started the game so can't know, but I'm reading this. Maybe it will help you.

It seems to address all those challenges and more.
I tried getting into this game, more than once. Put in about five hours or so. It's just not for me. It's a mediocre game. Maybe a 7. Typical Xbox exclusive. It seems that Microsoft says "alright guys, don't forget that this is going on Game Pass, so let's not make a great game, just a good one." I mean - Starfield, Redfall and now Avowed.
@Banjo- Thanks buddy, yeah i knew most of that and i am searching every inch of the map for items so i can level up my gear, it helps for a little while and then i am in area’s with loads of guys that are 2 skulls or more tougher. I am still playing it cause i want to love the game but the combat choices and leveling choices aren’t my favorite.
