Update (Fri 1st Sep, 2023): We've now got a date for this one! Slender: The Arrival's Xbox Series X|S upgrade arrives on October 18th, 2023, although it won't be free - instead, it's available to pre-order from today for £16.74 / $19.99.
Pre-orders also include a free copy of the 2016 Xbox One first-person adventure game, Valley.
You can check out the new trailer above, along with more details below.
"You're on your own. No one to come for you. No one to help you. No one to hear you scream. Slender: The Arrival is back and scarier than ever with the long-awaited 10th Anniversary Update; a complete visual overhaul of the spine-chilling 2013 release."
"This marks the first time Slender: The Arrival will appear natively on current generation consoles with the opportunity to pre-order today on Xbox Series X|S ($19.99), followed by PlayStation 5 ($19.99) on September 19. As a pre-order bonus, Blue Isle Studios is giving out a free copy of Valley with all pre-orders."
Original story (Fri 28th Jul, 2023): Anybody remember the 'Slender Man' craze way back when? The tall, suited-up spooky boy made his way to Xbox 360 (and eventually Xbox One) in the form of Slender: The Arrival in 2013, and 10 years on from the 360 release, Blue Isle Studios has announced a complete modern overhaul.
This news has come as real surprise, but yep, The Arrival will arrive once again this October, complete with Unreal Engine 5.2 technology to back it up.
"We are thrilled to announce that Slender: The Arrival, the spine-chilling horror game that has captivated millions of players, is about to become even more terrifyingly immersive. Brace yourselves for a huge update coming this October as we introduce a complete visual overhaul utilizing the latest and greatest technologies and Unreal Engine 5.2."
The team hasn't revealed any target platforms at present, but given that this appears to be an 'Anniversary Update', we'd expect existing owners of the game to be able to play this on modern consoles - Xbox included.
While we wait for the team to lock in an exact date and confirm the game's launch platforms, we'll drop a selection of comparison screenshots down below that show the Unreal Engine 5.2 upgrades in action.
New versions on the left, old on the right!

Great way to get this game back into the YouTube/Twitch Streamer circuit.
Re-experiencing? Nah
Experiencing for the first time? Yepperoni. Amazing what the new UE is allowing.
Slender man is looking more like Agent 47 here
@themightyant thats exactly what i thought, too
Dang, i wasn't expecting this, and in October, just in time for Halloween.
Nice! That's wassup.
Now we are remaking every garbage title ever made rather than creating. This has been a good year for games yes - it has also been an awful year and the bad signs of things to come are everywhere.
@Mauzuri I am the opposite - I ONLY buy new games now. I want to support new creativity.
I only make one exception. if a game is extremely hard to find and deemed a classic and I can't find the original for a decent price or I don't have the hardware to play it - I will cave and get a remake if well done. Ghost Trick and Metroid Prime are two recent examples. Some shmups out there that cost 100s of dollars physical that are being released on the Switch - in an improved state. No brainer for me there.
But now every mediocre game or bad one like this is getting in on the milking. No way. Pretty soon every company will operate like Square Enix and just release the same games over and over and over again on every system ever made. No thanks.
The game comes out in less than two months and they can't show any actual gameplay?
