Microsoft has announced the latest Xbox controller being added to the lineup - this one taking shape as an 'Astral Purple' design. It'll cost you £59.99 / $64.99 to add to your collection, and the team's latest accessory hits the market on September 19th.
This is a more basic design overall, with the colour choice of 'Astral Purple' actually already existing on Xbox Design Lab - Microsoft's online controller customisation factory. So, this is basically a new pre-configured Design Lab option that'll likely be available in retail stores too.
Anyway, here's a closer look at the new design, which launches in a week's time:

Wow. Very uninspired.
Oh wow, Xbox’s weekly controller reveal 😂
I won’t buy any controller with a white back.
Unpopular opinion: the dpad in Series controllers is bad and a downgrade from the One controller.
Astral Purple is a controller from our imagination
And when it's fall
It's what we call an Xbox pad sensation!
It is hard to justify more controller purchases when I always use my elite controller. The elite 2 has ruined me.
The white back once again is an eye sore to these controllers. Sticking with my Black stock and waiting on Elite 3.
Still waiting on the to add a gyro and hall effect sensors.
The latter will probably never happen as that would reduce the replacements people had to buy due to stick drift.
Even my girlfriend's Horizon 5 controller has developed stick drift. And she absolutely babies that thing.
Looks nice, but I got the metallic purple one earlier in the year, and it looks much better than this.
Why do they keep ruining them with the white back?!
Well this is kinda boring, just a plain color, nothing you couldn't do on design labs.
Purple is my favorite color but i'm happy with my elite 2, starfield, and my hyperkin duke
Astral purple is just purple.
@belmont I dunno - i use it exclusively in Sea of Stars and oft times in SF6. I think it works pretty well.
@Cashews In those games it is fine but in games like Sonic Mania and 2D Meteoidvanias in not good.
@Fenbops I don’t understand why that is even a thing. It’s terrible.
I'm holding off on buying another controller until they add in those anti drift sticks that everyone keeps talking about. I have drift in a second controller of mine now, out of warranty, so I'm going surgical on it to see if I can fix it. I'd happily buy a wireless one with the magnetic sticks though.
I love purple but I only buy the rubbery gripped models. Using the silver and blue with the swirls on the back right now. Also still have a blue and red X box one set.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner been asking that question about the white backs now for a long while, it looks non complete and lazy. It’s just ugly no matter the color on the front. I stick to the all black and really want an Elite 3 if done right. But these all white backs are UGGGGLY!
@HonestHick it’s like an intern actually added a 0 to the order of white backs, so now Xbox has to use them on every controller
@PsBoxSwitchOwner it’s so stupid looking. They have great colors on the fronts. Just that back makes it look unfinished. My eyes can’t not see it. Someone needs to tell them how ugly it is. At least when PS does their color option the whole controller is the same color. Doesn’t seem hard. Yet here we are!
