@Hi-Fi-Flush I don't understand the antagonism in your response. I hope you do have fun playing it. There is a lot about that game that looks amazing and I would love to see XBox get a W. For me, I really only care about action gameplay and just don't think a shooter at 30fps will be great for me personally. It's not an attack on you or even Starfield. It's just a personal preference.
@abe_hikura Those trailers get me every time. I get all excited by the them and have to keep reminding myself to temper expectations because I hate looters. I will still play because it's fun combat and couch co-op but I am dreading having to manage loot and endless skill trees for both myself and my wife who absolutely refuses to engage with onerous RPG systems.
@Phornix I might give Elden ring dlc a go because the art direction is so compelling and I thought the game was easy compared to wo long so I don't think it would be as hard to get back into.
@Phornix Yeah I guess I asserted my opinion as fact there. I'm sure it's great update for some people.
For me it just feels like I could quickly get back to the point that I could beat bosses but to get back to the point that I could beat several in a row without healing would require the same level of obsessive playing from when I beat it and that's not something I personally want to do.
I don't feel like DLC makes sense for hard games. I would have loved this at launch but after two months away having to relearn the timing and controls while playing an extra hard challenge sounds awful.
I wouldn't even be able to tell there was a difference because I am never on this screen for more than a second. What are people doing in the Home Screen that this matter at all?
Weird that there are no reviews at all for Benedict Fox. I try not to read too much into the timing of reviews but zero at launch for a game with so much marketing feels suspect.
@themightyant I feel like I am getting my values worth more than ever before. I spent $96 on GP for the year and have already played nearly $200 worth of games. I usually do not exceed the cost of my investment until at least July.
I know it's a great problem to have but there are too many games to play!!!
I'm already trying to play through Wonderful 101 before it leaves PS Plus, now I also want to get through Quantum Break, I'm almost done with Wo Long, and just started Last of Us 2 after the show ended. I also want to play through Life is Strange but that's probably not in the cards. And had to drop off Mario Kart despite living the new balance patch.
100% of the time I see someone refer to a game as being like Ori, it is nothing at all like Ori other than having pretty visuals which is a superficial comparison that completely misses what made Ori a great game, top notch platforming.
Halo Infinite and it is not particularly close. I don't get nostalgia. Gaming is still a new medium wherein developers are constantly learning new best practices so even masterpieces from 20 years ago are not close to the quality of mid games today. In the old Halo games the shooting has no weight to it like modern shooters do, the level design is rudimentary, they look ugly, the story is poorly told, Master Chief is a boring ass dated protagonist, and they don't have the grapple.
@BAMozzy It's not that people are confused. It's that Microsoft underdelivered. They may not have used the term DLC but they said Halo Infinite would be a platform for telling several Halo stories. Seems like we are getting one story.
I kind of strongly disagree that a developer direct is what Xbox marketing needs. This sounds like we will be listening to people talk and that's not what most people want from these events. Xbox is always panned after their talking heavy events.
The thing they need is release dates for first party and better marketing partnerships with third parties. These are the best parts of Sony and nintendos marketing events and what makes them feel exciting.
@RBRTMNZ Actually I just remembered that Wolfenstein is an fps that is widely considered to be difficult. I would say it's on par with Control and Remnant but less difficult than Returnal.
@Trmn8r That's an odd perspective to me. By far the most challenging shooters I have ever played were third person. Control, Returnal, and Remnant. They're know to be difficult games but I can't think of a single first person shooter that is widely considered challenging nor have I played one.
@Kaloudz It's really good. It lacks the world building of From Soft games but I actually kind of preferred the combat. The shell provides an interesting twist on the light/heavy/block/dodge format and the boss battles are great. As far as soulslikes go I have it third on my list: Jedi Fallen Order, Remnant from the Ashes, Mortal Shell, Nioh, Code Vein.
They should end it even if they don't replace it with better. Im not personally mad about the poor quality FREE games but it gets them bad press every month so why bother.
I absolutely loved this game. I am normally extremely achievement based in my gaming but this game made it fun to just explore and find pieces of lore. I didn't even mind that the final solution was way too obtuse for me to solve.
I really hate that any colorful game with a jump button is labeled a platformer. This games asks you to make like 4 skilled jumps in the entire playthrough. The gameplay is oriented around exploration not jumping. It's an adventure game.
Compliments on the poll design. I'm really impressed that you could capture most of the complexity in choosing games and how length impacts our choices in one poll with just five possible responses.
This seems pointless. If they are going to make any changes it shouldn't be to the format which is already great. They just need to copy Sony and shrink the tiles so you see the title card. That's why people like PlayStation's interface more even though it's a mess to navigate.
Is it really review bombing to criticize this mess? Having a persistent stream of new content is essential for a live service game. They don't have that essential feature so it's a bad game even if the bones are solid.
@Oggiedoggie I don't think the existence of Elden ring precludes Sony and Nintendo from having amazing years. I realize that may not be your opinion but based on subjective criteria like critical and popular reception Sony and Nintendo have released a bunch of bangers and have more scheduled for this year.
I also think your comment about delays misses the mark. Sony delayed one game to 2023, Forespoken. They indicated that it is finished but they delayed it because they don't want it to compete with their other fall releases. They literally have too many games this fall. Nintendo delayed Zelda but they had Pokémon on deck to fill the spot. They can still slot in Advanced Wars if they have an empty month. And rumor has it we are getting a Metroid Prime remake.
It is simply not true that the other console makers are failing in 2002. They are having great years. Xbox is the only console maker having a ***** year. They should have delayed Halo to this year and released it with coop and a steady stream of multiplayer content. 2021 would have still been great without Halo, 2022 wouldn't be barren, and the people would not have abandoned multiplayer due to the lack of content.
@d0x3601 So if I'm understanding this missive correctly you have two main points...
1. The popular and critically acclaimed games released on other consoles are not as good as everyone says they are and to support this you offer your personal (Seemingly biased) opinions on the popular and critically acclaimed games.
2. Microsoft, a 2 trillion dollar company, deserves a pass on GP having a down year because They were consistently outbid by a company 1/20th their size.
@d0x3601 I definitely do not think it is true that all the consoles are having a bad year. If anything Sony and Nintendo are having banner years while Microsoft languishes. Sony has God of War, Horizon, Sifu, Stray, Gran Turismo, Last of Us Remake, Valkyrie Elysium, Babylon's Fall, Ghostwire Tokyo, PSVR 2 news, and a new subscription service that rivals GP. Switch has Pokemon Arceus, Kirby, Neon White, Splatoon 3, Xenoblade 3, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Bayonetta 3, Mario + Rabbids 2, Switch Sports, Triangle Strategy, Live A Live, Mario Kart DLC, Kirby Dream Puff, Mario Strikers, Fire Emblem Three Hopes, Monster Hunter Sunbreak, N64 added to online, and a bunch of smaller releases. Xbox has Pentiment, Tunic, Rogue Legacy, and a fine but definitely down year for GP.
@GoninChelsea No, I'm just expressing my empathy for anyone who has to do the very hard work of finding exciting Xbox news in 2022. It is possible to be critical of the ***** year Xbox has had without it being fanboy nonsense. I love my Xbox but this year has been bad with major delays, Halo failing, a weak GP slate compared to previous years, and little else to generate excitement.
I don't understand why anyone cares about this. I spend maybe 2 seconds/day on the dashboard. What on earth are y'all doing with your consoles besides launching game or streaming apps?
@Somebody That trailer was a roller coaster. I went from instant hype at the start to zero interest when I realized it was a co-op shooter. There are like a million of those that have come out over the last couple of years.
I don't mean to disparage GTA games when I say this because they are fun but I don't find these games to be particularly creative. If anything they are kind of reductive. They feel like you're playing "Video Game: The Game."
I really hope Microsoft doesn't feel compelled to copy the PlayStation controller gimmicks. On every Sony game I play I turn off all the dumb ***** the second the opening cut scene ends. It's all so distracting, kills the battery, and in the case of the adaptive triggers very uncomfortable for my hands and almost certainly contributing to long term damage.
Not to disparage any of these games but I really expected Xbox to come out with fire this month after the delays. I know there are games here people will love but this definitely is not the response to the delays that I thought we would get.
They really should have held Halo until this year. They still would have had a great 2021 without Halo, 2022 would not be so barren, and it would have given them time to prep co-op as well as get ahead on making seasons for multiplayer so they could have had a tighter release schedule after launch.
The combat and art look great. I was so hyped before learning it's a rogue lite. I think I just need to force myself to love roguelites because this Keeps happening.

@Hi-Fi-Flush it's not entitlement to have preferences. They don't owe my 60fps but I also don't owe them my time and money.

I'm never playing another 30 fps shooter. This game is dead to me u less it gets patched.
