Update (Tue 23rd Aug, 2022): Well, as part of Gamescom 2022, we've now got a full reveal trailer for The First Descendant, and it continues to look really impressive! You can check out the trailer above, which confirms that the game is targeting a release on Xbox One, Series X and Series S, but there's no release date as of yet.
"Watch dynamic shooting action through co-op battles against huge monsters composed of diverse characters with unique concepts!"
Original story (Tue 9th Aug, 2022): Nexon has recently revealed a new teaser for its upcoming co-op shooter, The First Descendant. We'll openly admit that we hadn't really heard of this one before the new trailer dropped, but boy does it look impressive so far!
The upcoming title, which is running on Unreal Engine 5, screams Outriders to us, along with a little bit of Gears of War thrown into the mix. That probably makes sense though, given People Can Fly worked on both of those series'.
The First Descendant is from a completely different team of course, but the influences are clear to see. Developer Nexon says this will be a free-to-play co-op shooter with RPG elements, which also sounds very 'Outriders', minus the free-to-play bit. Anyway, here's a bit more footage from a slightly older teaser trailer, if you want to see a bit more gameplay:
Unfortunately, we don't have a release date for this one as of yet. However, we're assuming it's pretty far along, seen as the publisher is hosting a PC beta test through Steam, from October 20 through October 26.
How is this one looking to you? Gears/Outriders vibes? Let us know in the comments!

Looks visually impressive but its more about the story and game-play. Whilst Gears and Outriders can be played co-operatively, they are also playable entirely Solo. I tend to play games like these Solo through to the end at least once before I'll even contemplate playing a campaign co-operatively.
I want to take as much time as I want, explore freely, pay attention to the cut-scenes and dialogue etc first without being 'rushed' through the game, have people talking/skipping past important plot points. mission objectives etc.
I don't know if this appeal to me, the F2P business model is a massive 'black flag' to me and more likely to put me off completely...
Free to play and co-op focus is preventing any level of hype from me.
@Somebody That trailer was a roller coaster. I went from instant hype at the start to zero interest when I realized it was a co-op shooter. There are like a million of those that have come out over the last couple of years.
@BAMozzy
Same here, no single player
Looks cool, also got a bit of Crysis vibes from it, but yeah free to play no campaign, so not for me.
Looks generic and by the numbers.
Over the top bracers and shoulder pads? Check. Robots and cyborgs? Check.
Guns and swords? Check.
Insurmountable odds and giant bosses? Check.
Deep gravely masculine voice spouting something stupid? "..just reload". Check.
If its F2P, that's good. At least people can try it for free or outright ignore it, upon release.
Looks very generic, and how much actual gameplay was there in that trailer? Still nice to finally see a UE5 game that's not a tech demo.
