Re: Judge Agrees To Pull Xbox Controller Drift Lawsuit Out Of Court

Porridge2215

I must admit that this is one area of gaming that I think Microsoft has let gamers down on very badly over the past lot of years.
After doing such an AMAZING job with brain the brand back to what it is today, (with the help of game pass ultimate) it's a crying shame that we still get headlines like this.
I wouldn't say anything bad against Phil, IPWT, but he needs to have a word with hardware...

Re: Polish Consumer Protection Office Monitoring Cyberpunk 2077 Progress

Porridge2215

Perhaps justifiable, not here to argue, I'm enjoying the game.
But who actually benefits from the fine money?
So millions (xxx00k or whatever) of copies sold, this office take 10%, and.. what?
Do they refund me a fiver? 50p? Nothing?
Then who gets it? the polish gov?
Great! Does that mean the polish people get 50 cents off their tax this year? Towards a covid fund?
Or towards the investors who kinda have their own thing going on, and likely have enough money to fight for themselves without spending taxpayers money?
Can someone enlighten me please?

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Gaming Resolutions For 2021?

Porridge2215

NYR for last year, no, 2018 was to play through only 1 game (maybe 2, for online) at a time.
Stuck with that somehow, and have ploughed through lots of games on all consoles/pc happily.
Before that, I was grabbed by the next big thing and didn't finish what I bought!
So still to start Zelda BoTW lol

Re: Marvel's Avengers Has Failed To Recoup Its Development Costs So Far

"by offering ample additional content "
Like Spiderman on the Xbox?
No? Ah don't bother then...

Do you think they did bothered doing a demo and showcased it to people?
Perhaps did they, and the youtuber previewers applauded it, (mainly cos it got them the viewing figures to give them cash from advertising)?
Whatever way, the development seems messed up!

Re: PSA: Some 'Optimised' Xbox Series X Games Work From External Drives

Porridge2215

@adamfother1 as far as I know the velocity architecture can only be used when developing games using the very latest development kit.
So basically you have to start building on the latest development kit, it's something that cannot be emulated with backwards compatibility.
Also, it's not just a case of importing a game into the new kit and rebuilding it not simply anyway, it really is from the start - a new approach.
That's from what I've read!
Anyway it does mean that the games that will be coming out in a year or so that do take advantage of the velocity architecture will rocket along, I will imagine something like that PS5 Spider-Man demo where it's putting assets from the SSD at an incredible rate.
to use an analogy I think Xbox will be using its brains with the SSD, whereby PlayStation will be using its brawn

Re: Xbox Series X|S Launch Stats Reveal Lots Of Love For Xbox Game Pass

Porridge2215

Let's face it, it's a great product with a great pitch (4 gen BC), as well as being the most powerful CPU GPU combo (still with a fast enough SSD)
With game pass (and Ultimate including EA Play), consumers know that buying the X or the S is incredible value, with knowledge that your investment is going to repay you many times over.
I don't like Sony, but nevertheless have had every gen of theirs.
I will buy the ps5 for solo play JUST because of eg TLOU and Unchartered style games. But nothing that Sony have said, done or produced has got close to this quality and commitment from MS.

Re: Talking Point: What Will You Be Playing First On Xbox Series X|S?

Porridge2215

My slight obsession with playing games in order, (as well as actually playing what I've bought at full price that are now £15) has me leaning towards Borderlands 2 handsome.
The improvement in graphics of BL2, after BL1 hours and hours, blew me away, so this gen, with RT, etc, well, I'm gonna be picking my jaw of the ground every few minutes.

Re: Rumour: Is Disney+ Coming To Xbox Game Pass?

Porridge2215

Weren't they thinking of a new game pass subscription, i read here a few weeks ago? i'm sure about this
Something about Ultimate Plus (for want of a better phrase) more money of course - if so, then maybe D+ is the extra you pay for, but only a bit extra.
reckon that it'd be a win for disney as with the TV App, people got a month free, subbed a few months, watched all they wanted and left, but this way, they'd get less money per month but def get that over a complete year

Re: Xbox Series Horror The Medium Delayed To January 2021

Porridge2215

Shame was the exact words I thought I'd when reading the headline - and lots of people have said it already!
However, there is enough to be getting on with for launch day, even if no big titles, but then isn't that why we are invested in the system - the whole cross-gen and BC?
With only a few days to go, boy, am I excited?!

Re: Rare Unveils 'Key Optimisations' For Sea of Thieves On Xbox Series X|S

Porridge2215

Don't get me wrong, it is appreciated, but 60fpd at 4k is sort of pretty 'standard' for the Xbox series X
I'm sure it'll be silky smooth and responsive and so on but I'm more interested in ray-traced 30fps.
The games that seem to render at 6k and downscale are pretty interesting of course!
As long as games are a steady 30fps, I'll be ok with it.
I'm thinking of my experience playing deliver us the moon at 4k30fps, instead of lower 60 frames per second.
It's probably why I'm slightly surprised at AC Valhalla been 4K 30fps and it doesn't have any Ray tracing...
Of course each to their own - as long as we all enjoy ourselves on launch day 😉
Just occurred to me to ask - 60fps on an offer gen console vs 30fps on a new console with much reduced latency - what would be the best experience?

Re: English Lockdown Sees Retailers Shuffle Xbox Series Launch Plans

Porridge2215

Game UK rang and asked if they could book a half hour slot to pay in full the week before (I chose Wednesday 4pm)
Didn't send to make much difference a all the money is in game wallet...
Slightly concerned that they started talking about the 30 minutes would cover my options re games and accessories!
I'll be in there for 2 minutes to pay for the console, sod them for this cheap and tacky up-selling strategy

Re: Phil Spencer: Xbox Game Pass Is Completely Sustainable The Way It Is

Porridge2215

Wow, such long comments, debate and discussions!
I only hopped on to say that the GP (ultimate) works out really well for me, and I'm really looking forward to what's coming up in future.
Great to see not only the creativity and freedom, but also the thought of blockbuster games that we haven't really had before.
Someone above doesn't like the GP model, so to don't subscribe, but I'm like that with PSN, I detest that Sony close down their multiplayer servers, especially VR ones, cos only a 'few' people play
