Re: Those Xbox Series SSD Expansion Cards Will Be Hot Swappable

Porridge2215

I was intending to get one of these day one but at that (unofficial) price, probably plough the money into a PS5 instead, a month or two down the line.
at the minute I'm really restricted myself to play a game to end before starting another, so I'm thinking I don't really have to bother with expansion...
Have a 2 terabyte hard disk drive and a 240 SSD at the minute so plenty of opportunity to swap games in and out of the internal drive!

Re: EA Disables In-Game Replay Ads In UFC 4 After Heavy Backlash

Porridge2215

It's gonna set the wheels in motion for future. They'll be announced on the back of the packaging in a year or two, so you know it's there, and they will be smaller and less intrusive. Maybe just billboard style 'textures' that will change regularly we see it in real life in football, so it will be in FIFA eventually, then billboards in Fortnite etc. Can't see them ever being 5 second ads like TV

Re: Talking Point: Which Modern Games Will Get A Remaster In 20 Years?

Porridge2215

Nice topic, Fraser!
For me, is like to see crazy remakes TODAY of manic miner, JSW, with incredible graphics, I know Retrospec have done wonders, but something really over the top. Hard to describe here.
Most games have a style and might be wrong to try and re master and improve that, but in truth I'd like a photo realistic version of Spyro just to show that we could, sod the staying true to the original cartoon style!
But to answer the question - enter (and exit) the gundeon would be my candidate
but that's maybe cos I don't like the graphics, love the gameplay, mind you, is that the case in point here?

Re: Random: This Fall Guys Xbox Series X Concept Needs To Be A Reality

Porridge2215

@PretendWorking pretty convinced that the BC team have said that the way they change API and libraries and whatever (!) At the system level, they don't have anything to do when it comes to games to work better. I think that was around the time of red dead 1 getting an amazing 4k lift, guessing it was same as having a better spec pc means better FPS
But more recently, they are managing to get HDR out of old games by playing about at the system level not at the actual '.exe' level

Re: Talking Point: Should The Xbox One Version Of Halo Infinite Be Scrapped?

Porridge2215

I'm wondering now if this is just a strange transition period for us all...
I mean, I'm all for MS approach (eg. scraping the console war, sign-up the developers, getting great games with game pass, that whole subscription-based instead of how many consoles sold, and ability to play games from previous generations with backwards compatibility, I'm play them anywhere I want with cloud streaming.)
But in my head, it's taking some getting used to
Because even though I agree with ALL of that, I still desire the Sony approach of bestest shiniest game on launch day.
I suppose the delay is disappointing but I have confidence that we can have it on both generations.
I also (probably naively) think that the wow-factor graphics aren't there because of of the art style of the game.

Re: Talking Point: Should The Xbox One Version Of Halo Infinite Be Scrapped?

Porridge2215

I said yes, but thinking about it, that was probably to... emphasis to MS that the game needs to look truly stunning (someone mentioned gears 5 running on XSX earlier).
I'd rather have 60fps stunning than 120fps not so stunning (I'm just awake lol !)
I don't know much about game dev, but I think they should have started with XSX (overboard bells and whistles) and gradually to them out until it ran well on the XB1 (turn off raytr, reduce LoD, draw distance, etc)

Re: Phil Spencer Teases 'Really Great' Announcements For Xbox Game Pass

Porridge2215

@ThanosReXXX I totally get that. what I've done in the past 2 years is once I like a game, I will only play that game until the very end. So this is good for game pass games, but the other thing is I just getting mixed up between the plot to various games as well is is messing up the controls. I'm getting too old lol.
It's the reason why I haven't really got into RDR2 yet too

Re: Microsoft Reveals The Xbox Series X Will Launch In November

Porridge2215

@Dezzy70 @Dezzy70 already have and that's probably why I'm looking forward to even faster loading.
Going the half generation with the One X I suppose I should have expected with diminished return on investing on the next gen.
But spending all that money for launch day and not seeing something really special. Mmm.
Much though i detest Sony and PSN, the thoughts of ratchet and clank with its game play, Ray tracing, next gen, SSD etc (even if it ends up being checkerbox 4k) is launch day, well, it's pretty appealing

Re: Microsoft Reveals The Xbox Series X Will Launch In November

Porridge2215

@Dezzy70 already have external ssd, use it on all games I actively play. Huge difference.
But proves my point that One X users get diminishing 'returns' and that's the price you pay when you want to have the latest and greatest.
I'll just feel a lot better when there is killer app to make my jaw drop in amazement, even though I am with MS when it comes to game pass brilliance
But a Sony fan, and will never get PSN, but would get an instant fix of next gen with ratchet and clank as a day one release...

Re: Microsoft Reveals The Xbox Series X Will Launch In November

Porridge2215

I always look forward to a day one game that shows off the new features.... Is there anything to do this?
I'm on game pass ultimate, so yes I'll get all those 100+ backwards compatibility, great, but upgrading from One X, I have already marveled at eg Alan Wake and the 4k advancements.
Anyway, I'll buy day 1 but can help thinking it'll be a disappointment
Main reasons to buy (for me!) are to get faster loading on eg RDR2, which I've been holding off playing.
Oh and the sooner the new AC is out the better lol

For me this is hardly with it until i get a phone holder plus controller. I don't know if that's a clip for the (bulky std) controller to hold a 6.7" phone, or an extendable controller that holds same (expensive!)
Either way 15£ or 90£ that I don't have atm (skint after covid affected job etc)
