Bizarrely, I’m seeing Kiwami 2 as ‘owned’ in the store, though I’m certain I haven’t paid for the update. The 0 directors cut and Kiwami aren’t showing as discounted at all though. What a mess this is.
Yep, I’m still waiting. Just looked on my Xbox and it’s saying I can buy it at 50% off, so the same sale price as for anyone that doesn’t own the digital 360 version. Gits.
I think I’ll be sticking with GPU for now, but will see how I feel about its value at some point next year. Can see myself downgrading to Premium, but no plans to cancel my membership altogether.
I’m disappointed with the amount it’s gone up (an increase was inevitable though), and have no interest in U+ classics or Fortnite, so not really getting the vaunted ‘extra value’!
Just going from how many of the dev team are being let go, it’s hard not to conclude that FM’s days are numbered, which is very sad. Forza Motorsport is still the best feeling driving game of the current gen, for me, though I know I’m vastly in the minority for thinking this.
I’d love for it to receive one last decent update, perhaps with a newly remastered track, that’s still missing from earlier games, just as a ‘thanks for the memories’.
Much as I love GT7, and it really is a great game, I still prefer the actual driving and racing in FM. I’m very sad to see the huge layoffs for their team, though I’m optimistic we might get improvements to the game over time, in the future.
Having seen all the fanfare around Death Stranding 2 on PS5, with DF among others saying it’s the best example of current-gen yet, I’d say this aligns with what we will hopefully see on Series X in the future too. I think there’s plenty of reason to be optimistic for seeing the full potential of both XSX and PS5 over the next year or two, and I agree with @Coletrain, there have been plenty of bangers this gen already. I’ve loved playing games this gen.
The Forza Horizon games are easily the most fun I’ve had in driving games, for a long, long time. It’s ace that more players can now get in on the fun; just a shame that FH4 wasn’t able to be ported too, as it’s now delisted, but hey FH5 is plenty to be getting on with!
I’ve always thought that, if you think the price of something is too high, then don’t pay that price. I’ve not bought a new game for full price since, probably, Elden Ring, and I subsidised that with Rewards points; ergo, only pay the price you think something is worth.
If 79.99 is too expensive for you, then wait for a price drop, or shop around. It’s really that simple. And yes, it is way too much for me, and I won’t be paying that sort of price for a game.
As long as they keep making an Xbox console for me to buy, I’ll buy one, as it’s my preferred platform, still. I’d rather the majority of first party games were timed exclusives, for Xbox, but have to agree that more people playing XGS games is good for Microsoft and Xbox, especially if it helps create more first party games that come to Game Pass, on Xbox.
Yeah, this really is one for the nerds! I suspect that it’s basically saying the PS5 is limited to 4:2:2 chroma sampling, whereas the Series X can go full 4:4:4, but you’d never really notice the difference unless you were zooming into a freeze-frame. Interesting to know though, I guess.
Given that the Metacritic score is still an 86, including some decent scores from other sites that I also trust, I’m going into the game with optimism that I’m going to enjoy it.
I actually really like it, especially in comparison to GT7, which I find too much of a grind. I know I’m firmly in the minority, but I just find FM more fun to play, and that’s what counts, to me.
As for the comment about having to play to upgrade cars (although they have since given the option to just spend your in game credits to do that), I like that mechanic, and the game at least gives you multiplayer from the start, unlike GT7.
I have to be honest; since panning it for the launch day issues, I’ve definitely noticed a vast improvement since, in terms of getting the game to start, then jumping into a flight, etc.
It isn’t perfect, and it’s always going to be dependant on having a having a stable internet connection, but I’ve been enjoying my time with it so far. When it’s all working properly, the visual upgrade is marked, and it’s much quicker to get into. Very impressed with the new game modes too. An easy 8/10 for me at present.
I finally got in earlier and have spent a couple of hours on it. It’s shameful that it wasn’t ready for (what seems like) the vast majority of players when it actually launched, but once you’re in it is a vastly improved experience.
The good news is that you won’t need a super-fast internet connection to play it; I’ve capped the bandwidth to 40 Mbps and had no problems flying around central London.
What an absolute shambles. I’m not at all surprised that there are issues on day 1, but not even being able to log into the game at all? Poor, and a really bad look for Xbox.
I’ve been enjoying it so far, on Series X, going with the default Performance mode. Looks more than good enough, though I might try my own comparison with Graphics mode later. Great stuff.
Brilliant game. Bought it on PC earlier this year and have just double-dipped for my Xbox. As others have said, it is quite obtuse, but that just adds to the intrigue, for me.
This is probably my favourite racing game, despite some of the legitimate negative feedback that we’ve all seen, since launch. The developers have really improved the way the game works, and the driving is so much fun - and all there to be enjoyed right from the off.
I’m actually a big fan of the car-p-g system, and have enjoyed levelling up my favourite cars to level 50; it makes jumping into random races very rewarding, and I’ve spent so many hours just perfecting my laps in time trials. Despite not having anything like the depth that GT7 has, I just find it so much more fun to jump into FM; it’s much more accessible and for me, it’s a clear winner. I hope they keep releasing more and more of these big updates, Turn 10 have been doing a great job.
Man, I spent lots of hours playing this; it was one of the games I got my Xbox One for. Yeah, it was superseded by its sequels, but I still prefer it to FH3, it’s a great game.
@Titntin cor, yeah, I remember that was crazy expensive when it came out! I always wanted a PC Engine after reading about it in (I think) The Games Machine magazine, but it was always too dear for the likes of me. I remember seeing the handheld PC Engine in a grey importer and was desperate for that too, lol.
@16BitHero you make a great point in your edited comment, I totally agree.
It’s going to be interesting to see how Xbox Series consoles cope with the new game and also how variations in internet connectivity / bandwidth affect the game. My fingers are absolutely crossed that the devs can squeeze that same experience into the console versions, whilst also massively reducing the install footprint.
Wow, this reads as ‘Nintendo being Nintendo’, to me. I’m kind of surprised they haven’t sued Sony for the new Astro Bot game yet, as it sounds like it’s as enjoyable as their Super Mario games.
@eastephens Absolutely. I have no issue with PlayStation consoles (Christ, I loved my PS2 and PS3), but the PS4 and PS5 just don’t do it for me like my Xbox does.
There was a lot of crap in there, from my point of view, but some highlights piqued my interest. Anything related to Little Nightmares, Borderlands 4 (still love looter shooters), the Starfield update and a peek at Indy worked for me.
Let’s wait until core Xbox games (Halo, Gears, Forza) are ported to other console platforms, before we pronounce Xbox exclusives dead, eh?
You can bet your arse that the IP owners for Indiana Jones pushed for their game to be multi-platform, and the same will go for any other similar license that Xbox will publish.

@Banjo- cool beans; I’ll just keep my eyes open for the Just For You deals
Re: Yakuza 0, Kiwami & Kiwami 2 Are The Latest Games With Upgrade Issues On Xbox (And PS5)
@niggyt2004 ah, cool. Hopefully the other two will show up as discounted soon, though I’ve no idea what sort of discount they’re going to be.

Re: This Xbox Game Studios Adventure Deserved More Nominations At The Game Awards 2025
100% this game should have been recognised more. It’s a brilliant game, but I guess it’s just not on a fashionable label 🤷♂️
Re: The Timing Of Xbox's 25th Anniversary Just Got A Lot More Awkward
I genuinely don’t see the issue here. If nothing else, it’s a great time to plug Xbox as being the best way to play GTA VI, etc.

I’ve really enjoyed the first couple of hours; it feels great and looks the part, apart from a couple of technical issues, which should be patchable.

@MeanBeanEgg aye, it is!

@Titntin heh, I think many of us are just suckers for shiny new things! I’d love to splash on a PS5 Pro, but no way I can spend that much.
I already have a Series X that I still play every day, and will settle for a regular PS5 when I decide to supplement my gaming, some time next year
