Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 took to the skies this week and it's admittedly not been the best start for this new Xbox, PC and Game Pass release.
The development team at Asobo has already issued an apology following the turbulent launch, and now the team has officially launched a new patch for "all platforms" including the Xbox Series X|S. This bumps the game up to Version 1.1.9.0 and addresses stability and performance issues as well as some general bug fixes. Below is the full rundown:
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 1.1.9.0 Release Notes
If you are playing on PC, outdated packages in your Community Folder may have an unexpected impact on the title’s performance and behavior. If you suffer from stability issues or long loading times, move your Community package(s) to another folder before relaunching the title
Stability & Performance
- Fixed a crash when you selected “As Arrival” in the EFB
- Fixed a crash that could occur when closing and invoking the Camera menu after changing the Drone focus mode option to a value other than undefined
- Fixed various crashes across the title
General Bug Fixes
- Fixed missing cursor on Xbox Live sign-in popup
- Fixed an issue where you could lose focus when creating a new input profile.
- Aircraft selection is accessible via the control menu, but can only be changed from the home page.
- Fixed an issue where you could get stuck when accessing the menu bar from any help page.
As noted by the team, you can leave feedback about various topics on the official Flight Simulator 2024 forums.

I tried it earlier and it played well for me. I rather liked it, honestly. Feels almost like the THPS Underground moment for the series. Looking forward to the reviews now that it’s got the server issues sorted out.
Played well for me too. Always enjoyed these games but the gigantic footprint they took in hard drive space meant I never kept it downloaded for long. I was impressed at how good it still looked and played with the new streaming tech. So now I can happily keep it for a quick flight hear and there without having to give up so much real estate.
I love this game, I think it is incredible. I haven't had any issues since the first day. Career mode is addictive.
Between this and call of duty, my single player backlog is piling up.
Not a bad game but it gives U a break from the shooting kicking the ball the blue mascot running way too fast 🕹️🎮🕹️🎮
I have tried on four separate occasions since release and still haven’t even seen the main menu. Truly disappointing launch of a flagship title and an insightful peek into what Microsoft’s cloud future is going to look like.
@GeeEssEff same. I was considering buying additional controllers for the game, so glad I didn't and held off. Complete joke for an important release. Microsoft haven't got a clue when I'm it comes to their big in house games. Every recent game has glaring issues.
The developer issued an apology earlier this week
Now I'm just looking forward to the 3/10 review from PX 😅....
Genuine question.. how does a game release in such a bad state? Do they seriously not have any testers or quality assurance? It has taken them just one week to release a patch to address these OBVIOUS issues, so how is it that they did not come across the issues before launch? It’s baffling to me.
@Kloppo
Yep this game and stalker 2.
At least dragon age seemed in good condition.
Now come December I’m hoping the Indy game doesn’t end up in its own Temple of Doom.
I have to be honest; since panning it for the launch day issues, I’ve definitely noticed a vast improvement since, in terms of getting the game to start, then jumping into a flight, etc.
It isn’t perfect, and it’s always going to be dependant on having a having a stable internet connection, but I’ve been enjoying my time with it so far. When it’s all working properly, the visual upgrade is marked, and it’s much quicker to get into. Very impressed with the new game modes too. An easy 8/10 for me at present.
@OldGamer999 same, I am really looking forward to Indy but I will wait first to see if there are bugs/issues galore. I can wait for a better experience if needed.
@OldGamer999 stalker 2 isn’t a MS game so absolutely 0 blame towards MS.
You also said it was running flawlessly and there was a campaign against it etc.
So which is it?
@PsBoxSwitchOwner
Didn’t blame Microsoft, it’s just another GPU title that’s is pumped up and by myself included being honest that turns out a flop.
It’s just Xbox gets so many disappointments with nearly anything it gets involved in.
Yep I did not get any of those issues that have been mentioned during the early stages and at the start of the open world undertaking a few side missions. When the storm weather effects kicked in I thought it looked great and still didn’t get any issues.
Obviously they are there further into the game.
Anyway was thinking again, I have always had an Xbox even if it was for best place to play third party titles like Xbox one x that Microsoft used to brag about.
Now there is even one less thing Microsoft have not got, with the Pro now released.
The parent company Microsoft could not do more or their own worst enemy to give reason to have no Xbox console. Even when it comes to their own studio games and paid for GPU titles like Stalker 2.
One reason why I’m so staunchly anti-cloud. Rendering on local hardware or GTFO.
Tried to start it up once ....either crashed on the loading screen or was going to take about 20 mins to load ..so I quit
They still haven’t fixed the ‘Customize Identity’ feature, which shows the red man holding an error board. When trying to change anything the game just shuts down and dashboards you back to Xbox Home Screen, this is preventing us to make a start on Career mode and prevents us to board and leave the aircraft to walk around.
Also when in the game is anyone seeing very low res textures on buildings, landscapes etc? Don’t remember MFS 2020 looking this bad.
I have a question for those that have played MFS 2024, Can you choose to fly just helicopters? I'm not interested in planes.
Is anyone here playing this on series s? How is it?
@CD456 yes you can just fly helicopters if you choose to.
It's working fine on Series X now- however, it generally doesn't look as good as 2020 in my opinion and that's with 700 Mbps download. Trees and terrain can look better but large cities in particular don't look as lovely as they did in 2020. Not giving the option to do a large install in addition to the cloud streaming technology is a bit of a shame.
@BolkaRover I play on Series S and once you get into the game it runs fine. Loading and swapping between menus was a bit choppy, but I'm sure that will smooth out over time.
@RetroMan71 great thanks. Think I’ll get a series S. I only have PS5 at the moment but the S could come in handy for a few things.
@BolkaRover Well I've had my Series S for just over 2 years now, played a lot of games and it's been great. I've never noticed or had any performance issues, so I say go for it.
